Montego Mermaid Beach Motel

Mermaid Beach|0.83km from Nana Thai Restaurant
I am deeply disappointed and disgusted my the service I received at Montego Mermaid Beach Motel. I chose to stay at the Montego Mermaid Beach Motel because of its recent renovations that are displayed all over its website. I even spared extra money to upgrade to a superior double room with a balcony. When I arrived, my partner and I stood at reception waiting to be greeted for several minutes. We had to call out to be have someone come and see us for check in. The woman looked like she was too busy watching TV to be greeting her guests. This was not a good start for us. When we arrived to our room we were horrified that our room was nothing like it was pictured on the website. We saw photos of wooden floors, comfy new couches, newly painted walls and tidy kitchen spaces. Our room was the complete opposite. It was covered in old, dirty-stained carpet which looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. There was old furniture, no decoration to the point it felt very dark and depressing and my allergies were playing up from dust-mites after 15 minutes of arrival. I specifically requested to have wooden floors in my comments when booking and this was not honoured. I was deeply upset and had to leave the motel immediately. I tried to call reception and the lady on the phone was argumentative and unwillingly to help. I requested to move rooms and was refused and spoken down to like a child. She was not interested in helping me or did not care about the quality of my stay. I told her I had horrible allergies to the room and could not stay there. Due to my requests being ignored and be feeling so uncomfortable about staying there, I asked to be refunded and to check out to which she refused a refund. I was in tears after our conversation and have never felt so disrespected due to such a poor level of customer service. I was so upset I decided to book another hotel to stay at the night as my whole weekend felt ruined. My partner and I were looking forward to this week to celebrate our five-year anniversary. I ended up having to pay another $250 at another hotel where I received excellent value for my money. To top off such a horrible experience already, I immediately checked out after I booked a new hotel, and half an hour later, my exact room was advertised on booking.com again with vacancy for the same night. It was booked within the hour. Not only was I refused a refund, the motel kept my money and received quite the profit in having someone else pay again. They wouldn’t of even had time to clean the room. I would like to be contacted from both the motel management and booking.com about this disgusting and disappointing visit. I will be spreading my review on all possible platforms until I receive appropriate compensation and a refund for this experience.

Portobello Resort Apartments

My partner and I came from Victoria and since the beginning before we even arrived the hospitality provided by Portobello was unmatched. During all the uncertainty of COVID, we weren’t sure whether we would end up arriving or not. The owners (Dorelle and Marty) went out of their way to help ease our worries, letting us know that they wouldn't take any payments before we arrived. Upon arrival they greeted us at the reception, and were very helpful and friendly, giving us a run down of the area and the best places throughout Broadbeach and surfers paradise. When our hot water was playing up, they offered the room next to us to be able to use until our room was back up and running again. You couldn’t ask for more! The room itself has everything you need, from a microwave and an oven to a washing machine, dryer and a comfortable bed to sleep on! The location was perfect, being 200 metres from The giant Shopping complex and only a few blocks down from the broad beach shops and food strip. The beach is only a short walk and there is a private back entrance to get in and out of the place. Not to mention the tram and bus stop was right across the road, making it easy to get to the big theme parks and surfers Paradise. We didn’t have to travel far for everything we needed! On our final day they allowed us to keep our room till 1pm until we left for our flight, instead of the normal check out at 10am. And when our flights got delayed they provided us the room next door to be able to leave our bags and relax until we had to leave again. Both Dorelle and Marty went above and beyond with everything they did for us, and I would happily stay there again without a second thought. My partner and I are very thankful and would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to enjoy an affordable and cozy getaway.
Diamond Sands Resort

The location was not the best as there was not a lot of shops nearby, anyways the rating was not based on that. The pool area was fantastic and the vibe from the outside overall presented well, produced a good holiday house vibe, inside the apartment is spacious however quite a few letdowns that I picked on during the stay, little things do matter * Furnitures are old and bring down the whole experience of the stay in a so-called 4 star accommodation * No air-conditioning in. Bedrooms, we were lucky this year it wasn't too hot during Christmas, so could live with it. * Pedestrian entrance needs to be improved, I hit my head on the wall light which is fixed too low while trying to dodge the plant grown over the path. * Unpleasant Registration Form, basically ”orders” you to do certain things otherwise threat you with a charge, straight away first impression gone first day when I saw this, see attached photo

Blue Heron Boutique Motel

WOW what a delightful surprise, it is a fabulous boutique Motel that has been renovated beautifully to a high standard. The room was light and airy with its own fridge, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and microwave. There was also cutlery, crockery and everything we needed to be self sufficient. The bed was comfortable and the shower was fabulous. The grounds were well maintained with an inviting looking pool, they had there own coffee van open each morning on site which was very handy, parking was easy and we got a spot each time we returned to the property. It was in a fabulous location a couple of streets from the beach and there were restaurants within walking distance. Although it is located on the Gold Coast Highway there was very little if any traffic noise. We will definitely stay at this Motel again it was an amazing find and I would highly recommend it to other travellers.
