I return as often as I can when in the city. Sant Ambroeus Coffee Bar which operates adjacent to the hotel is great venue for coffee, and wonderfully crafted snacks, breakfast fare and pastries.

The daily amenity fee is 39.9 US dollars including tax, which must be paid. Drinks and food can be consumed in the minibar for no more than 25 US dollars. The problem is that a 750ml bottle of Evian is 16 US dollars, so I only saw this fee in this American hotel, which is very bad! The phone service was extremely slow to respond, not at all Intercontinental service standards. There are also random deductions from the credit card deposit, and one extra person's breakfast fee. I only said to apologize when I went to find it in person, and said that it would take 5 working days to return the same way. So this InterContinental is not recommended at all in New York! !

Two doormen stationed at the front entrance saw us retrieving our luggage from the cab trunk, but made no attempt to help. I had checked in a day earlier and was great full that the room was made available at 12 PM . They did tell us there was no view; I was okay with that as we are in NY regularly and at this trip it was not a priority. I haven’t stayed at this hotel in a few years, but remembered the excellent butler service and lovely accommodations, and was looking forward to it. The checkin felt like something one would expect at a Highway motel. No explanation of any services, no welcome drink, no Butler introductions, nobody accompanied you to the room or directed you to the elevator. The room had the tiniest window, with a curtain without a valance (# 1406) facing a wall a few feet away. No Natural light what so ever. The leather head rest on the bed was ripped on a couple of spots. It had only one not very comfortable lounge chair in a fairly large king room. So if you are a couple, you cannot even sit together for a cup of coffee. In the past at checkin the butler would introduce themselves, offer coffee , tea etc and make sure you were satisfied with the accommodations. We had ballet tickets for a matinee, so initially decided to just go with the flow. Went for a quick lunch at the Astor, paid around $170 for 2 ceaser salads, a bloody mary and a glass of Duvel Leroy Champagne. I have no problems paying premium prices for value , but $28 for a Bloody Mary with a celery stalk garnish and stoli vodka? They claimed to have invented it , but definitely not worth the price. When we returned back from the ballet and returned to the room , it seemed really depressing. They call it an interior room , but it could easily be in a windowless basement. We requested a room change and requested to speak to a manager. We were told the manager was downstairs and would call us back. We were going to dinner, so left the front desk our cell number. The manager ever returned the call. On our return when we requested a room change, we were told that they were completely sold out. At this point we were exhausted an decided to just let it go and returned to our room for a good nights sleep. It was around 10:30 PM, and there was a continuous loud rumbling sound. When we called the front desk , we were told that the noise was from their service elevator which was being used a lot that night as 2 of their 4 passenger elevators had been broken for a couple of days. They offered to now move us to another room. So at 11 Pm we had to get dressed and pack up to move to another room. The new room (1903), had a moldy smell. Got up next morning with a back ache as the bed was not comfortable. In the morning the moldy smell seems to have gotten even worse and I did report that. For hotels next to Central Park, as long as the rooms face the park, the room rate is doubled. Many rooms in the hotel have been sold to private owners, entrepreneurs or celebrities. Very convenient location, room is sparkling clean and has everything you need (if not, housekeeping will bring to you). Room is a bit dark and it will be nice to have more lights, but since mine was on high floor it was ok when I opened the curtain. Friendliness is so-so, but not particularly unfriendly either. The hotel doesn’t seem to have any other facility like gym, pool or even a restaurant, but you can make your coffee and cocoa at lobby for free. There’s a small lovely balcony at the lobby as well. Overall happy with stay and will come back if I have chance.

Stayed here with a family in October 2022. The room size is generous by Manhattan standards, and we were able to see the Chrysler Building from our window. The room and the hotel in general are clean and well-maintained. The reception staff was friendly and courteous, quickly resolving a few minor issues for us. The breakfast variety is good, although it may be a bit crowded a little later in the morning. The elevators are fast, although sometimes you may have to wait a bit for them to arrive. The location is great for your general NYC tourist destinations. Nothing negative to say about this place, if the price is right, you are not likely to regret your choice.

Because the plane was late, I arrived at the hotel at 1 o'clock in the middle of the night. The lady at the front desk helped me to check in very quickly. It was the speed of New York. Hotel location is very good. About 5 minutes walk to Fifth Avenue, turn to Central Park, and the subway station will walk for 5 minutes. The hotel is a post-modern urban minimalist style, the room is good, very New York apartment feel, but the breakfast is a bit too casual, too simple, but the breakfast at the New York hotel is probably so good, it is a very good hotel

Great location. But the service standards absolutely disappointed. In room telephone was not working and despite repeated complaints it was not repaired through my stay of 4 nights. So basically we had to go down all the way to reception every time we wanted something at the room. From toiletries to food to water. Even the front desk as well as the duty manager simply expressed inability to do anything about it Initially even some of the lights in the room were not working. Clearly one of the worst stays of my life at a big brand hotel All in all a big disappointment

5 night stay for a family birthday and reunion. On arrival there was a little mix up with the booking which manager Chris & staff worked quickly to resolve to our satisfaction. The suite had oodles of space , the bed was massive and very comfy. Have in your mindset this is an older hotel , with old fashioned lifts ,decor and doors. March weather was very cold and the old, drafty windows made the rooms a little cold when the curtains were pulled open, but there’s easily operated heating in the bedrooms which you just turn on to heat the room quickly.There’s lots of space to hang up clothes.The shower was over bath and adequate.The cleaning service was very efficient with the room cleaned every morning. Complimentary bottled water, tea & coffee making facilities in room. Food at both the bar and restaurant is very tasty, especially the Irish breakfast. You can get a sense of the real will from the management and staff to get back to normal after the awful pandemic closure. All the Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location is excellent. All in all a fantastic stay in a wonderful city!

PEOPLE PARTYING PAST 2AM I know this is NYC but... Never again totally lacking Front Desk staff wonderful but not enough to offset. They send a confirmation with no totyl price??? I had to call 7 X to get a copy with the total cost!??

My daughter and I first learned about the beautiful views from the Panorama Room right after it opened from a person we met that lives on Roosevelt Island. They were right! Likely my favorite views of the city! So when my daughter graduated this month from Columbia, my husband and I decided to make a week's reservation to stay at the Graduate Hotel! When I made the reservation several months ago, we decided to get the ”Get Up + Go Package” which included a continental breakfast from their Anything At All lobby restaurant. I mistakenly made the reservation for one person instead of two, so I made a reservation change online and also called the hotel to make sure they adjusted it. The person I spoke with ensured us that our reservation was changed to two and that the price would be the same (we were spending well over $2600 for our stay). Upon arrival, the person at the front desk said the reservation was only for one person and that only one of us could get the continental breakfast. So I explained what happened but she had no record of it. She said she would talk to the manager about it -- and later advised that the manager said we would have to pay extra for the continental breakfast. It all felt so silly - we are talking basically coffee (which is free for all anyway) and pastries, fruit, or granola. Besides, we had to miss breakfast a couple times during our stay because we had to leave for graduation events before they served it. They relented after all but we felt it was a poor way to start our stay. I think communication is a problem in general there because before we arrived I sent an inquiry to the Panorama Room asking about the Mother's Day brunch menu and they never responded. I tried calling a few times and could not get through. So although I made a reservation for brunch, I ended up canceling it. As for the room, we very much liked it. We had a great view from the 17th floor, the bed was comfortable, the room was large, and we liked the Roosevelt era decor. So the rating is mainly for the that. You can reach Roosevelt Island via the F train or the tram (which is fun for one trip over). Getting there can wear on you over a long time but it was an interesting place/location to stay.

My family of five (two teens and a pre-teen) came to Manhattan for Spring Break. Finding relatively spacious accommodations for five people was a bit of a challenge, but came across The Gardens and booked it without difficulties a few months before this week. The Gardens is to the east of Central Park in Lennox Hill. We really liked the location, which was away from the craziness of the Theatre District, and was a convenient half a block away from the Lexington/63rd subway station. Central Park was also very easy to access. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a room up on the sixth floor with two queen beds and a sofa-style pullout for our fifth person. The room was quite spacious, and had a kitchenette - very handy for buying some snacks from the Morton Williams supermarket across the street from the subway access. The room was clean but could use a bit of freshening. The blackout blinds were fantastic for keeping our room dark, and our family kept on an MST schedule for our holiday. The limiting factor for a group our size was the bathroom, which was very small. The hotel was nice and quiet for how busy it seemed to be. Overall a nice stay, The Gardens was a great base of operations for giving our kids a NYC experience.

This was booked through a travel agent when we said, nothing fancy just travel lodge type, for sleeping only really. It was for me and my daughter, 60 and 40, twin room requested. It looked ok on website so we were happy. Oh dear, when we got there we were told, you have our deluxe double, i told the receptionist we had requested a twin, he said non were available, so we thought a double like a travel lodge/premier it would be fine. The room was the size of your little bedroom in a house, the bed was long ways on running against the wall, after a conversation with the receptionist, a twin room miraculously appeared at a price of a further 200 dollars!! Over a barrel we agreed, what choice did we have! Once in new room, which was nice and had rooftop balcony, we decided to shower and change before eating, the shower was via the toilet in the room, i got in and then my daughter shouted mum, don't turn round! the shower, which was lovely and hot, was exposed to the whole room through a full length window! No modesty at all. The room service and cleanliness was great and i am sure for a certain type of guest these rooms are good value and do the job. I have attached the welcome poster on the back of the door, we have laughed since. Also don't eat at the joint next door, it too expensive and not good value, walk to the end of the street onto 2nd ave and you ll find lovely eatery's and service. Also don't use their return to airport service, they use a luxury limousine service which is double the yellow taxi!

I booked my stay on Choice points. The city was FULL this weekend and being a little off the beaten path was fantastic. The entire staff was beyond helpful....they know the meaning of customer service and hospitality. The rooms are ”New York” sized..and space is well utilized. We switched rooms mid stay so had both a window room and a non-window room. I see people complain about that....but we loved the no window room....it was very quiet. Beds were super comfortable, linens and towels were nice. Coffee, tea, cocoa in the lobby 24 hours. I would absolutley stay here again!
