Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda

Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi Osaka|0.36km from Yakitoridojo Fukushima
I enjoy staying at Moxy chains (even though I only stayed in one prior to this) because of its modern but funky atmosphere and rooms. The room itself is as expected from a Moxy. Compact, but still bigger than most Japanese business hotels. As a platinum, I did not get upgraded. I had to ask upon check-in and was told there was only 1 available on the 3rd floor. Granted I requested for a higher floor... I would rather not get upgraded and stay on the original floor given to me, which was the 8th. I also asked to be away from the elevator, but was placed in the room right in front of the elevator. To be honest, I find it hard to believe no others rooms were available.. I only stayed for one night and it was on Thursday night. Luckily, I didn’t hear any sounds. Either the walls were that good, or barely anyone was staying on my floor. I’m going to go with the latter one. The only complaint I have with the room was the tin garbage can provided. I get the “go green” thing going on, but I didn’t feel comfortable throwing garbage anywhere without a bag because of stains or liquid leakage. I ended up using my own plastic bag. It would make more sense to save the plastic on the slippers no? But that goes for most hotels, not just this one. No robes, but pajamas are available on the first floor. The restaurant/bar: If I would rate this alone, it would be a solid 5. Just look at the prices. That itself is already fair enough but this was under a hotel. I actually found it hard to believe they were offering such low prices! And the taste... amazing. The burger I ordered was very juicy and whatever sauce they used added more flavor to it. The nachos were handmade (?) and the portions were all fair. However, why the 3 stars? Out of the 7 staff members I’ve interacted with, only 3 of them spoke fluent English. The lady who checked me in (very sweet, short brown hair,) the manager (?,) and a foreigner who took my order at the bar (who spoke like a Japanese.) Two others literally ran away from me to get someone to speak to me, while 2 others said very basic words. Pretty sure they couldn’t understand what I was saying. Ironically, the owner (?) of this place, is a foreigner himself. I passed by the gym and noticed a guy talking in the phone. He was the same guy that’s on their Instagram so I’m assuming that he’s the owner. I get this is Japan, but Moxy is under Marriott, which is an international brand. Definitely caught me by surprise when I had to use my elementary Japanese to get my point across. Another thing is the location. This is not Shin-Umeda. It’s clearly Fukushima which is what they’re marketing it on their IG. So very misleading. Problem is that the closest subway station is over 15 minutes away! Yes there’s a JR but the metro is what most people would take, to go to tourist spots. So I would say this hotel is targeting the Japanese business audience instead. If you are taking the metro, Nishi-Umeda would be the closest station. Lastly, t

S.Training Center Hotel Osaka

Umeda Osaka|0.49km from Yakitoridojo Fukushima
When we went to Osaka in late November, the city was crowded with tourists, especially around major attractions and Osaka station. It was thus very pleasant to stay slightly further away from the hustle and bustle on the quieter streets. Moreover, the hotel is still connected by a short and frequent shuttle ride (10-20 min depending on traffic) or a short walk (around 15 min) from JR Osaka station. Note that the shuttle runs only up to 8:40pm from the station so there is a high chance that you might need to walk from the station at night. Somebody mentioned in the comments that the room was small, I would add that it is likely due to not so thoughtful design. One has a feeling of everything being in the way of something else. For example, the toilet and shower are in two separate ”booths” and the shower rug is placed right at the entrance of the room. The sink is however inside the room and not in another booth. There was also no service for the room during our stay (2 nights) and not even towels were replenished by default. Besides a tiny desk that serves as a counter-top for us, there were also no other drawers or basically any place to put your luggage, so even our luggage (2 backpacks plus a carry-on) was always in our way. This is really smaller than the usual small in normal Japanese business hotels. Nevertheless, the dining hall that serves breakfast, drinks and lunch offers reasonably good food at good prices (breakfast at 400 yen, drinks at 300 yen, lunch at 800 yen). It is a good alternative if you decide to avoid the crowd that day. Another good point is that the room and buildings (reception, dining and rooms located in 2 separate buildings) are all new, modern and sparkling clean. There is a time-sharing (to separate genders) public bath at the ground floor of the hotel building so in case you don't like the smallness of the shower, there is still another choice. Unfortunately, the time constraint has made it difficult for us to use it this time.

Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi Osaka|0.21km from Yakitoridojo Fukushima
Conveniently located 2 minutes walk from Fukushima Station on the Hanshin Main Line and 6 minutes walk from Fukushima Station on the JR Osaka Loop Line. This hotel is a collaboration with Phiten, a company based on the concept of beauty and health, and the large public bath was the best! ! The public bath is clean and the water is soft and provides a relaxing moment. In addition, the washroom is equipped with lotion, emulsion, facial cleanser, hair dryer, and hair iron, making it easy to use even during busy mornings. The room had a single bed, so I was able to walk normally without bending over the bed, and even though it was a capsule hotel, it didn't feel pretentious and I was able to relax. I think it would be better if there were lockers where you could put your large luggage. The hotel is located 2 minutes walk from Fukushima Station on the Hanshin Main Line, and 6 minutes walk from Fukushima Station on JR Osaka Circular Line, convenient for transportation. Co-produced by Miwa Hida Company based on the philosophy of health and wellness, the large bathing pond emergency bar! The public bath pond is cleaned, the water quality is adjusted, and the water quality is adjusted, providing a quiet and convenient time. In addition, the washing machine has water, milky lotion, washcloth, blowing wind machine, Japanese direct blower, and when the messenger is in high peaks, it is also useful. The bed in the room is only one level, and the bed is also able to move normally, and the management is in the hotel, but there is no sense of absence, and the ability of the listener is free to move freely. If it is possible for one person to renovate the abandoned large-scale memorial museum.

아마 오사카에 와도 다시는 이 호텔에 올 일은 없을거고 주변에 누가 간다고 해도 추천을 하지는 못 할 것 같다. 위치도, 서비스도, 객실도 어느 하나 좋은 것이 없다. When I checked in it was 8pm, and my room was not assigned, and okay I understood that situation. But when I signed in, the staff show me the room rate about 95,000 JPY. As I remember I reserved the room as 56,000 JPY. So, I checked the Marriott App, but it was changed to 94,xxxx JPY. I cannot understand why. Anyway I found my confirmation email and showed it to the staff. Unless I checked the confirmation I should have paid double. Finally, I got a room on the 5th floor, and the room… it was really disappointing. No view… it was faced another building’s wall. So, I called the reception twice, but nobody picked up the phone. I came down to the reception and asked to change my room to the higher floor or to the better view. The male staff said it was fully booked and no king bed room on the day. Okay, I can understand because it was already 8pm. So I asked him to change the room next day then. But he said it is fully booked again so no more better rooms because the better rooms are for the elite members. I don’t understand what he said because I’ve worked at Marriott hotels at the front desk more than 10 years and never said to guest that ways and I don’t think even he really tried to find a room for me. I saw the OPERA screen when he checked it and I knew he didn’t check the availability. He just pretended to check it. If this hotel is like what he said, I don’t know how many elite members come here, non Marriott elite members should’t come to this hotel during weekend because they will have rooms on the low floor without any view. I didn’t ask one more room, I just asked to change my room. So, it doesn’t matter if the rooms are fully occupied or not.

The location is quite good. Next to the Umeda Sky Building so it’s easy to find. However it’s a 5-10 min walk to the big department store, but the walk is okay. There is a shuttle bus service which makes it very nice also. The room is quite big and of course everything was nice and clean. The breakfast was amazing! I love the hotel and would stay again!

The hotel is in Nishi Umeda, less than 700 meters southwest of JR Osaka Station. Exit from the Central South Exit of JR Osaka Station and walk to the ground level. Follow the Amap and follow the surface road to the west, then turn south. I recommend using Amap. Google’s signal is really poor indoors or underground. The front desk of the hotel only speaks English with a Japanese accent, and the room is very nice. The bedroom area is relatively small but fully functional. The bathroom is very nice and spacious. Disposable toothbrushes and other items are available for free at the front desk.

It's really close to the subway station and very convenient. I chose this hotel mainly because I wanted to go to the airport the next day. I think I will choose this hotel when I go to the airport in the future. There are a lot of places to eat around. I even went to Umeda specifically. Wandered around for a while. The hotel's bath water seems to contain hot spring water, which is quite comfortable for washing and sleeping.

Osaka Station/Umeda/Yodoyabashi/Hommachi
Convenient for traveler as the hotel is within 50m of JR Fukushima station and 200m within non-JR Hanshin Fukushima subway station. Many small restaurants and places to eat nearby which are cheaper than the hotel meals at the 1st floor. Reception for check-in/out is at the 2nd floor. Our room with queen bed is small but accessible with creative use of space (eg. Luggage can be stored under the bed). One downside is the water tap outside the bath room does not come with hot water which is important in winter.

You can cancel for free at trip.com Although the location is not first-class, the facilities are complete, the environment is clean, and the beds are the largest among the youth hostels I have been to. On the day of check-out, there is a free luggage storage service until the afternoon. The lobby has Japanese tatami mats, coffee machines and nostalgic toys.
