Don't use a guide, but be prepared with water and food if you plan on going a long distance. The terrain varies. If you are lucky you will see lot's of wildlife, but the proboscis monkeys are worth it in themselves. Highly recommend spending at least a couple of days here. Camp at the waterfall if you can.

It is beautiful places to visit as it contains secluded beaches, trekking trails, abundant wildlife and waterfalls as well.

Bako National Park definitely recommended if you are in Kuching area!We took the red public bus form the Central Market (not far from Plaza Merdaka). They have bus 7:00,8:00,9:00 etc. Ticket price: 1 ringgit per person. After arriving to Bako jetty, you need to buy entrance ticket to national park (20ringgit for foreigners) then boat. if you can get 10 people that's the best, we shared boat with others so only paid 20ringgit/person for the return trip. After arriving you need to register at the HQ office, they will recommend hiking trails. Be prepared: landing from the boat, probably will make you wet, so you need to remove footgear, wear shorts. Also if you go on a hike be prepared with water, and sunprotection because big part of the trails are exposed to sun.All the boats leave Bako National Park between 14:00-15:00 so go early. Then take the 1 ringgit bus back to Kuching (14:30, 15:30).

Gujin's Bago National Park can take bus No. 1 from the city to the entrance of the park. The first bus at 7 am is more reliable. You can wait for the white shed in Figure 1 below in a small shed diagonally opposite the Hilton Hotel. The bus departs for 1 hour and a foreigner RM5 fare. (Foreigners here have to be more expensive, including fare tickets, ferry tickets, hotels, etc.), rocking all the way for about 50 minutes to the entrance of the park, and then buying tickets RM40 buy tickets RM20, several people have to come back with the same boat for the combination of allocation boats. To be honest, the experience of a day here is average. First of all, the park is very large and there are not many attractive scenery in the hiking road. It is estimated that you like to hike in the wild.

One of the special in Bako national park is can walk along Mangrove Forest. This Mangrove Forest cannot find at land without seaside. This forest can learn alot how the Mangrove tree survived inside the sea water. Very special.

This National Park is the smallest in Southeast Asia. But, because it is the oldest in Sarawak, it has almost all Borneo plant species. You can meet wild boars, proboscis monkeys (or called Dutch monkeys with big noses) up to 150 species of birds.

You will be able to see the sea, beaches, hills, waterfalls and mangrove swamps in one national park. There are 16 trails here. Choose a track according to your time or ability and most importantly, be fit, have suitable shoes and be willing to be bitten by mosquitoes.
