The Missouri was commissioned in June 1944. On September 2, 1945, General MacArthur accepted Japan's unconditional surrender on the deck of the Missouri warship, and the Second World War ended. The Missouri was retired in February 1955 and then modernized and re-entered service in May 1986. He joined the Gulf War in January 1991 and was officially retired in 1992. Beginning in 1999, Missouri was converted into a memorial ship, moored at Pearl Harbor, becoming a witness to the beginning and end of the Pacific War.

The Missouri ship, which was transferred from Bremerton, Washington, to Pearl Harbor, is now parked next to the Arizona battleship, marking the end of World War II.

my father was under the command of gen.Douglas Mc arthur during liberation of the Philippines 🇵🇭 and sailed on the Missouri. after my son graduated training usmc in 2007 we had met up with him and my father and toured the Missouri. it actually brought tears to my father's eyes while on top of that famous deck, and had asked my father if he was he ok and to what he was crying about..he said son, it's just too hard to really talk about it..your father had both good and bad memories of that war, and hope my grandson never ever has to experience what I have. Sadly my father passed away in 2011 and the Missouri tour was one I'll never forget. She was so huge and equipped and could carry a small city..in 2012 the Philippines awarded my father with a medal and commendation for his service helping liberate the Philippines...an article of that was published in his hometown newspaper before he passed away. Tickets for the Missouri ticket were purchased at the ticket window. Tickets cost $25 per person. The Missouri Memorial Museum includes the cost of the shuttle bus to and from Ford Island and Arizona Memorial. First go to Missouri, take a free shuttle bus, about ten minutes to reach Missouri, board the main deck of Missouri. Foreigners knew that we were from China and assigned us a small Chinese team. The explanations here are free, and the Missouri situation and war history are explained in detail all the way. We didn't walk with them full, we shuttled like a child in a big toy, climbed up and down the bridge and experienced the combat post and living cabin of the ordinary crew. After passing through the kitchen and the berth, I thought that many young people came here with different dreams and goals, and the days on the ship were memorable for a lifetime. When you board the ship, the staff will take pictures for you, but when you get off the ship, you will pay 35 knives for taking pictures.
