Situated on one of Israel’s most exciting seasides, Tel Aviv has been neglected since 1965 and abandoned as a regulated docking port. The recently completed public space development project seeks to restore this unique area and turn it into a prominent, lively urban landmark. The public space designer was the winner of the open competition, started in 2003 by the new port management as an ambitious new vision of regenerating the port, including the reconstruction of public space and the restoration of the port's old engine shed. The winners of the competition (MayslitsKassifArchitects in partnership with GalilaYavin) program brought vitality, and tourists flocked to the event, and they couldn't wait to complete the project even before it was completed.
