We got take out but hung out while waiting for the food (a bit slow, but was in no great hurry). The food exceeded my expectations for the price - nicely spiced and authentic - and portions were generous. We were only visiting DC but if I was there again I would go there for a tequila on the bar and a bit to eat.

Nice, small Mexican restaurant. Very friendly and great chicken enchiladas. Chips and salsa not offered for free. Guacamole was good.

I rented an Airbnb room right down the street from Sol Mexican Cafe and this restaurant fits right in to the trendiness of the neighborhood. It's authentic food and doesn't taste anything like you'd get at Taco Bell (Thank goodness). I ate in the rustic, no frills downstairs and got a wonderful Mexicali burrito with all the trimmings for $10. Upstairs is a whole other sit-down experience and alcohol is served. Great decor and the people are so nice.

If you are looking to have a couple drinks with friends, try their taco sampler, its perfect for 3-4 people! Without being sure what we wanted to order, we started with a margarita and a mojito. Then after talking through our options with our patient and friendly server, we went with their taco sampler. Also ordered the chips and guacamole - thicker chips than average corn tortillas, which is good for the weight of guac. The taco sampler was great for three people and the platter was huge! Our server checked on us frequently and even recommended a house-made green sauce that was his favorite, it soon became ours. It was a fun dining experience, in great part due to our server!
