Fresh, innovative, summer food served buffet style in an informal, pretty setting...salmon en croute was moist and delicious...washed down with a chilled glass or two of rose...a perfect, secret spot on a summers day...hard to believe this is in central London!

    4/5Excellent

I am a long time fan of this secretive little corner of London, it's a beautiful setting in the gorgeous Chelsea physic garden which always has something to offer year round. Over the many years I've been coming to tangerine dream cafe in most respects it's gone from strength to strength, the menu reads rather well but has gotten a bit repetitive (varies seasonally but is year on year on year the same) which is a pity, the same can be said for the food served off the counter, delicious but I feel they could creatively do more. A few of the reviews mention poor service which I think is deeply unfair, the regular staff are lovely and I've had many pleasant conversations with some of them, they do however suffer from constantly being understaffed which is a management issue that me and my friends can't figure how they haven't figured it out! There are two people that I see regularly working on the till an older gentleman and a similarly aged woman who are particularly charming and very efficient always with a smile on their face and two young brothers who are always very helpful and personable. This all said about the staff they aren't all perfect especially some of the newer faces (including a particularly mad maitre d) so perhaps this may be the source of some of the more negative reviews! In summary I would still recommend this busy cafe (well maybe not on Sunday's!) the food is good, reasonably priced especially for the Royal borough and the cakes deserve a special mention! I wrote this review (my first) in the hope that they spice up the menu and can finally iron out their staffing issues (and maybe train up a few of the newer ones more thoroughly) in which case they have a bright future in the sunny Chelsea physic garden!

    3/5Average

We only had cappucinos here and at nearly £3 for a small cup they were quite expensive but were good enough, there was a good selection of teas if you prefer that. There didnt seem to be many cakes left but it was after 4pm so i guess that is not surprising. There are outdoor and undercover tables which is good and the garden is a lovely place to visit, as far as i can tell you can only visit the cafe if you have paid to visit the garden.
