Firstly I don't normally submit reviews. I think everyone's experience is subjective based on where you've travelled before and what your expectations are. I also think it only fair to address issues with management before posting on a public forum. All of these concerns that I refer to below have been expressed to the management and the response to date has been indifferent at best. Overall this hotel is overdue a refurbishment but unfortunately the tired nature of the decor extends to the staff and management also. My problems were many. The room was not serviced properly on two days. Paint was flaking from the walls and the air-conditioning did not work properly, which meant the room was frequently cold. The room was also poorly lit, which created a very depressing ambience. Check in and check out were comical. When I checked out I was given no bill, no invoice or any receipt, neither was one emailed to me. When I got home I saw that I had been overbilled by €300 which management told me was normal practice but was being refunded to me. By the way it took three days of emailing management to be told this. This could have easily been avoided or cleared this up if I was given an bill/invoice or informed of this by reception, none of which happened. There were other issues. The downstairs common areas are small, rundown and completely misrepresented by the hotels website. The staff refused to hail me a cab and told me to go inside and order one. A small issue, but surely that's one of the benefits of staying in a five star hotel. Finally communication. I emailed them, using the address provided on their website, filled out a contact form on the website and finally completed a customer satisfaction survey. No of this aroused the attention of the Hotel Management. Finally I resorted to the only tried and trusted method, Twitter. I eventually got a response here, but it too was also slow and labored. The room was €500 per night. It was far from value for money. Would I go to Bordeaux again, most definitely yes. Would I stay in this hotel again, most definitely no. The problems in this hotel extend across the board, it will take some effort to fix them.From$462

Very nice small luxury hotel! Excellent location, close to the center of Bordeaux, walking distance to all of the best restaurants and shopping!! Our room was excellent, larger for European standards, with excellent quality bedding. Best of all was the hotel staff! They are very friendly, helpful and very attentive to the guests needs. At the end of our stay, our taxi to the train station was running late, putting us at risk of missing our train to Paris. One of the hotel staff was getting ready to drive us in his personal car, just as the taxi finally arrived. This is a great example of how they go that extra step to ensure everything is fantastic during your stay!!From$247

Supernice and supergood hotel, marvelous room and central downtown location.
Normally i book rooms in the 100-150E range. I decided to go a bit more luxurious and i tremendously enjoyed it. Im an easy going traveler, i was i Bordeaux to assess architecture and urbanism projects. I rented a bike to go around the city.
The hotel staff is very naturel an friendly, no rush to empty your wallet but rather making sure you have a great time...
Best hotel experience i had i a lon time travelling the globe. Wholeheartedly recommended!!

The hotel is beautifuly maintained, the staff is great. Continental reakfast at 10 euros is ok but fruits could be improved a bit. I was grateful that they were willing to go find me gluten free bread. Perhaps you could add a few more items to the continental breakfast. Guests should be aware of the location of this hotel. It is a long walk to downtown and while there is a tram within 15 minute walking distance, we did not feel very safe in this area. Not recommend you walk around after dark.From$113

This hotel can easily be reached from the train station, just take the exit to the back side of the station (where also a good pizzeria is and all the intercity buses pick up passengers). Like that you can easily reach the hotel in 5 minutes by foot. So, if you don't mind not being in the city center/old town and willing to use the nice trams and buses (both no problem at all), this is a good choice. Supposed you don't pay the official prices, but rather get a good deal (through the hotel or booking platforms). Then, and I think that's probably the normal case, this hotel can offer excellent value for the bucks. It's one of the few hotels I've experienced where the floor-level-entry shower didn't flood the whole bathroom. The hotel per se is a 4-star officially, with new rooms and amenities, but lacks in some areas compared to other 4-stars. E.g. if you arrive early and can't check in yet, you likely can't use the free wifi as it only accepts french phone numbers. Other quirks: The bathroom can't be locked, the lamps in the room can only be controlled from one side of the bed, one can not adjust the shower head's direction, has to go for the rain shower, I'd recommend setting the air-con to off during the night. The keycard sometimes stops working if stored in a purse with other magnetic cards. Also, the cleaning service is sub-par: If one doesn't leave by noon, the staff doesn't check later in the afternoon again, instead just doesn't clean the room. Bed linen also aren't renewed daily, which is something one generally expects from a 4-star (although often not really needed and not very environment-friendly). The reception staff are friendly, but in those times when only 1 person is at the reception, you might have to wait 5-10 minutes to get addressed. To me it's a bit of a mystery why the architect designed the windows relatively small, considering this is a very new hotel building. But the rooms per se are great. Prices for the laundry service are prohibitively excessive (e.g. you can buy a new t-shirt for the same price instead). The breakfast is also quite pricey, at 19 EUR.From$94

We stayed in ‘superior studio’ for 2 nights during heatwave. The room was air conditioned, clean with a comfortable bed, nice little kitchen, shower room. The room was on third floor and involved a walk up from the second floor on external staircase and across a little bridge. This was a bit of a nuisance if we got to the ground floor and realised we’d forgotten something in the room - didn’t do it twice! Hotel is really well located just a couple of minutes to tram stop and with parking on site. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.From$44

We were greeted with a friendly welcome and drink at bar while we waited for the room. Got to our room and we were very impressed with both the size of the room and the big comfortable bed. The walk in shower was fantastic and it was great to have the toilet in a room on its own. The maid service was also superb. We were never bothered by knocks on the door and after going for lunch etc, we came back and the room was done. Perfect. Unfortunately though, music was played all day - sometimes from 8:30 in the morning. This was pretty disturbing when you just want a bit of peace. One day we’d not had breakfast, so around midday, we thought we’d have a bite to eat in the outside garden. We wanted just something light like a baguette etc but this was not available and the options were expensive and distinctly underwhelming - bunging a few flowers and a couple of strawberries on a heap of average quality jambon doesn’t pull the wool over anyone’s eyes. We decided to have a night cap in the bar one evening. It was an “interesting” experience. The din of the Reggaeton music assault, was interspersed by glasses and all kinds being slammed around and a general atmosphere of malcontent from the clearly fed up staff. I have bad days too, guys, but my valued clients would never be able to tell. When we checked out on Friday midday, the attitude of the woman on reception was pretty frosty too. No smile dispensed here. In fact when she made a mistake and asked my wife for 800 euros for the room, which was already paid for, no hint of a “my mistake, sorry”. This stay could have been so much better. Examples: A more consistent attitude from the staff. A simple lunch/snack menu. Maybe not play music that’s audible all day in all parts of the hotel. I am unable to give it more than 3 stars as there are a lot of improvements that are needed.From$201

First time in Bordeaux, we booked a nice room here. Honestly, we're lucky enough that we're used to staying in top hotels, and this place blew us away. I'd go back to Bordeaux just to stay here again. The term ”boutique hotel” is so over-used these days, but Villas Foch is truly a boutique hotel. It's small, independently operated. In a nice quiet residential area. The service was off the charts. Everyone was so friendly and helpful to us. The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous inside. I have no idea who the designer was, but huge kudos to them. The rooms are gorgeous, common areas are gorgeous. Breakfast was great. The bar here is great. Room was super comfy, bed was comfy, AC was great. The staff could not have been better. Like everyone went out of their way to make sure we were having a good time. Really, I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Huge thank you to the staff here, we had a wonderful stay.From$287

We visited Bordeaux for the first time for a family wedding. I must say the location of the hotel was excellent, cleanliness of a very high standard, but most of all very friendly, helpful and efficient staff. The breakfast was nice, albeit at €15 each not the cheapest for a family of 5. The reception staff booked our taxis for the airport and the chateau for the wedding with little fuss. The taxis are a little expensive but that’s not the hotels fault, and most taxi drivers (not all) drive with their mobile in their hand, so be prepared for a potentially scary ride. I would recommend this hotel for a short break, we were there for 5 nights, we had two rooms on different floors, so would try and get them close together if staying again.From$117

Good breakfast and location. But a lot of one-off things aren't there, and that's probably the case in Europe. The overall feeling is not bad, but one day, throwing my trousers directly to the ground for sanitation, I came back to see how angry I was. The shower head in the bath is not good, the old one, the angle cannot be adjusted, and the washing is uncomfortable. There is a taxi at the door, which is not bad.From$123

We stayed here for 3 nights as a base to visit Bordeaux. From the outside the hotel does not look like much and google maps took us through a questionable part of town to get here. Less central than the centre would imply this hotel is about 15-minute walk from the main part of Bordeaux however it is very close to the tram and a shopping centre/mall. The room was comfortable and a typical size room for novotel. The hotel internally looks recently renovated and have a reusable water bottle system in place however its only 1 per room and there was 2 of us. From$130

Location: Initially, I was concerned about the location since the hotel isn’t located in or near Bordeaux downtown. However, it was a non-issue due to available transportation options and quick tram ride to the main attractions in Bordeaux. The tram station is a short walk to/from the hotel. We had no issues getting back to the hotel via the tram even at late (December) night. Hotel staff and rooms/facility: The hotel staff did their best to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They all spoke fluent English. We had two rooms and both of them were very comfortable. I did not have any issues with the noise from either side of the rooms (5th floor) we were staying. The hotel is pretty new and nicely laid out for a comfortable stay. Good size high quality bottled water has been placed in the room by the housekeeping daily and we really appreciated that. Breakfast: Breakfast was great and had a lot of options. The restaurant has a very nice commercial grade automatic espresso machine at your disposal and I was able to make any coffee myself. Overall, we all enjoyed staying at the Renaissance Bordeaux and the city of Bordeaux. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Bordeaux.From$132

Thank you for that :) The pool area was a bonus after a long drive. There were not many loungers so many people were on the grass. That does not bother me, if it may bother others. I thought that the kids games area was really cool. Our accommodation was disappointing. We had an executive family room. Our room did not look like the one on the photo. The bathroom stocked rituals which was nice. What was not nice is that the large bottles (bolted to the wall) were empty! Both soaps (basin and shower) were empty. The toilet flusher was broken and only worked on one setting. There is no toilet brush….. The sleep quality was good (as the bed was comfy) but my husband found the pillows uncomfortable. What was great was that the key card was not plastic, it was made of bamboo. The parking is limited. I think that they do warn you about this on the website but just wanted to say that it’s correct.

Shower worked well & there was plenty of hot water. However, the towels weren't changed during our 4 night stay & the bins weren't emptied. Luckily, there was an electric towel rail in the bathroom to dry the towels to use again. It would have been nice to have had a change of towels & bins emptied halfway through our stay. The matress has harder than I like but wasn't uncomfortable. However, the pillows were not great & my husband & I didn't find them very comfortable. The hotel was quiet but as we had a room over looking the road & the fraffic started to build up from 6am. My husband slept through the traffic noise but i am a light sleeper so the noise woke me. There was a problem with a smell in the bathroom when we first arrived but we repored it at reception & it was dealt with the next day. The smell never returned. The hotel is not close to the city centre. it's fine if you like walking; it took us about 35 minutes. There is a tram station quite close & fares are inexpensive. There is a good regular service.There were no major issues at the hotel & it was ideal for a short break.

Just outside the center, the short tram ride to much of what you want to see and do makes it a convenient place to stay. The neighborhood isn't particularly picturesque and is part of a developing area of old shipping buildings converted into shops, restaurants, and art spaces. It's also a short walk to the new Cite du Vin, kind of a waste of time and money IMO. You're better off spending your time and money going to an actual winery.

However, room & bathroom were more than adequate, lovely and clean, crisp bed linen & towels. Air conditioning worked well too. The front desk staff (day and night) were very polite and helpful, and also spoke good English. The bar area is limited but we had good service regardless. The continental breakfast was generous for €11, with plenty of fresh coffee, fruit juices, fruit, meat & cheese, cereals and all kinds of breads and pastries. The 2 waitresses were super helpful and friendly as well. Location was great for main route access as well as the brilliant tram facility, which was €1.70 a journey into the centre of town. Would definitely stay here again.

Seduit par la situation nous avions décidé d y séjourner 5 jours, quelle erreur!!!!!!! *Le studio que nous avions réservé était crasseux à souhait, du sol, au plafond; à commencer par le sol qui collait, noir de crace, autour du WC il y avait de l'urine ça sentait la pisse à en vomir, les rideaux pouvaient tenir sans tringle tant ils étaient pourris, le lave-vaisselle ne marchait pas dés l arrivée et était dégueulasse et je vous dis pas l'état du canapé convertible, la suédine était noire de crasse et lorsque nous avons essayé de frotter avec une lingette desinfectante (force oblige nous sommes allés au Lidl acheter de quoi récurer...), elle est ressortie noire et pleine de moutons, une véritable horreur (j ai posé une fouta pour camoufler), le micro onde sale, toutes les poignées collantes, la douche beurk....,etc. * Le petit déjeuner ne vaut vraiment pas le prix, seul la jeune fille qui s'en occupe est très sympathique et relève le niveau d accueil .... * L'accueil clientèle est déplorable : à l arrivée une jeune fille nous accueille elle est vraiment très sympathique, on se dit super ça efface un peu le contact telephonique très désagréable que nous avons eu avec la responsable qui nous annonçait une panne de climatisation, malheureusement cette hotesse n'est là que pour la journée. Le pompon, une jeune fille nous accueille pour payer ce que nous devons, elle n est pas très accueillante....elle se trompe dans la note, durant plus d une demi-heure je discute, lui explique, elle ne veut pas reconnaître son erreur, s entête, elle est très irrespectueuse dans son attitude, très froide, et hautaine, finalement elle s est bien trompée, elle recrédite ma carte bleue d un joli montant, sans même s'excuser; je lui explique que j'attendais un minimum d'excuses elle ne veut pas prétextant qu'elle a senti que j'employai un ton agressif dans mes explications, j hallucine, je suis sur une autre planète; bon il n y a rien à en tirer..... Nb : nous avons envoyé un mail à la direction à Bruges, à ce jour resté sans réponse. Avis aux futurs clients qui tiennent à y séjourner : Prenez des gans, des lingettes désinfectantes, un produit javelisé pour les sanitaires, vos propres oreillers, etc. et vérifiez votre note avant de régler....

The hotel room is clean and tidy, the space is moderate, the facilities are quite large, the pool table, the pool, the piano, the breakfast is also good. The queen bed room we stayed in was very high in the room, and it was very comfortable even if the room was not too big to sleep. The first floor has the second and third floors and is very quiet. The room was very clean, the sheets were changed, and the bathroom was very spacious.
The public area is very good, not like other hotels flashy. There is a puppy area, a photo booth, especially a large terrace outside with sofas and lounge chairs, which is great. There is also a big screen watching the game.
Public areas can eat and drink, many guests are chatting here. The front desk service was very warm, the English was very good and the experience was great.

The good bits first: the bed was comfortable and the receptionist supplied me with two extra pillows upon request. The not so good bits: the room needs a complete overhaul. The fabric is old and grim. The floor needed a good clean. The bathroom fittings are rusted from age and, my goodness, the toilet would benefit from a gallon of bleach being thrown down it and left for a week. Gross, I think is the word. (Room 102). In these days of Covid-19 precautions, people in France are required to wear masks in hotels, restaurants etc and there were notices advising the regulation. However, the receptionist was not wearing one when we booked in. He was wearing one the following morning, but under his chin! Again, because of Covid-19 we expected the breakfast trays to be made up for as we chose our items. No, the items were still displayed on plates and baskets, for everyone to breathe over them and touch them as they made their selection. Bear in mind that many guests did not have masks on and were not prompted to wear them. Well, when the receptionist doesn't wear one, or wears it improperly, what can he say? Sadly our last stay here at a Premiere Classe (and we are fans of the chain), which is in a superb area for visiting the beautiful Bordeaux.

My first room was close to reception, and not ideally suited to my needs, so asked to be moved. I asked for a quieter room upstairs as I needed to get a long nights sleep. I was flying late the next day and would not get any further good sleep for at least another 40 hours. To be brutal, the place is old. The corridors smell, fixtures are broken, carpets are worn - but the worst was the aircon/heating unit in my room. As there was enough “natural” ventilation I turned it off for the night - BUT it continued to moan creek and groan the whole night. The hotel has installed black out curtains in the room, which is great, and minimised all non essentially lighting - also great. But when you have a 10 000watt light flooding the car park - it will squeeze around the gaps in any curtain. Some cushions would have been nice to sit on the bed and watch a bit of TV - but only two pillows doesn’t help. The long stray dark haired lady’s follicle in the bathroom didn’t go unnoticed, but was too tired to care. The bed in the second room was far better than the first. The hotel seemed fairly empty on the night I stayed, so it was quiet in that sense. So the hotel is very close to the tram stop and at least four restaurants within a 7 min walk. To get downtown is also easy and quick, about 15min on Tram C. The hotel Complex is also in a fairly quiet area. There is a lake close by for walking, and in the other direction (east) there is a really beautiful park - but not easy to find and a fair walk. The entrance is behind the NEW stadium. SUMMARY. The hotel is clean, but old, and offers fair value. But for me I would be happier paying €35 for no sleep, rather than €50 for a night. Especially with my after tax personal income.

Je n’ai jamais reçu de sms ou de mail de confirmation avec le code du coffre afin de pouvoir avoir accès à mes clés. Aucune information à propos du parking. Un monsieur m’a très gentiment laissé prendre mes clés en même temps que lui. La chambre n’était absolument pas propre. Le sol de la salle de bain orange, les cheveux de la jeune femme d’avant étaient dans la douche et au niveau du sèche cheveux. Les traces de dentifrice de la dame d’avant dans le fond du verre. Un rouleau presque vide derrière les toilettes et j’en passe… vraiment inadmissible. Étant une ancienne du monde de l’hôtellerie je ne comprends pas comment on peut oser louer des chambres dans cet état et me dire le matin que la chambre a été nettoyée.. les photos parleront d’elles-même. Le téléphone d’astreinte ne sert à rien car la responsable de l’établissement laisse sa boîte vocale pleine afin de ne pas être embêtée. Le numéro donné sur le papier est celui d’un salarié qui ne fait plus partie de l’entreprise depuis 3 mois. Heureusement l’astreinte externalisée en plus est très aimable et compatissante même si elle ne peut pas trop aider n’ayant que quelques infos . Hôtel à fuir personnel qui s’en fiche de ses clients et qui a réponse à tout. Ou qui vous répond pas, pourquoi être embêté par ses clients. A quoi sert une astreinte si le téléphone ne sert pas. Niveau sécurité on est à 0 également. Impossible de pouvoir en parler à la responsable pas présente le soir ni le matin et téléphone saturé.

|1.1km from BrandenburgWe have stayed in the hotel before as we have family nearby. We went out for dinner and came back to our key fob not working and we were unable to get back into our room. We called the emergency number on the door as the reception is closed between 7pm and 7am and there are no hotel employees on the premises during this time. We spoke to a guardian who spoke no English and poor French who told us that he would do a security round around midnight but we would have to stay outside until then - it was 8.30pm! We said that this was impossible and that we needed to get back into the room, to which he told us that it was not his problem. After a 30 minute discussion he got us to open a key safe and take another room card and said we should stay in another room for the night - obviously not a solution as we had medication in the room that needed to be taken, to which he replied it wasn't his problem and we should have taken it with us to dinner. At this point we asked to speak to a supervisor and threatened a formal complaint. He finally accepted to make the 30 minute drive to the hotel from where he was but when he got here had no idea how to open the room. It took another hour to find a solution. Although the reception the next morning agreed that this was unacceptable and the receptionist was understanding, we have decided to go elsewhere and we are yet to see a reimbursement for this terrible customer service.

However, it was a non-issue due to available transportation options and quick tram ride to the main attractions in Bordeaux. The tram station is a short walk to/from the hotel. We had no issues getting back to the hotel via the tram even at late (December) night. Hotel staff and rooms/facility: The hotel staff did their best to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They all spoke fluent English. We had two rooms and both of them were very comfortable. I did not have any issues with the noise from either side of the rooms (5th floor) we were staying. The hotel is pretty new and nicely laid out for a comfortable stay. Good size high quality bottled water has been placed in the room by the housekeeping daily and we really appreciated that. Breakfast: Breakfast was great and had a lot of options. The restaurant has a very nice commercial grade automatic espresso machine at your disposal and I was able to make any coffee myself. Overall, we all enjoyed staying at the Renaissance Bordeaux and the city of Bordeaux. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Bordeaux.

There are quite a few restaurants dotted about within a five minutes drive but not really anything within walking distance. There’s a big shopping centre too with an Auchan for supplies. We had a car and used this hotel for a base for visiting lots of different cities, towns etc and was brilliantly located for us. The plentiful and free parking was an extra bonus. Check in was easy and staff friendly. Room was bigger than expected and clean. There was plenty of utensils, plates etc to use in the small kitchenette. Everything was a bit dated but in good order. The only two problems were that there was no shower curtain/screen and the fuse box on the wall had no cover so looked ugly. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was a good place to use as a base. Overall the place was perfectly fine for the price as long as you aren’t using public transport. Nothing special but worth the price paid

Fortunately one luggage we didn’t need to open. 😀 Just for clarity I want to mention that we booked a room for 3 persons. The room was cleaned and functional. There was a bit of a smell in the bathroom coming from the sewerage. We tried the breakfast and it was a good idea because we didn’t want to walk around in the morning looking for another place. The offer was not extraordinary but you could find some type of cheese, salami, croissants, bread, pancakes… The majority of the staff speaks a very good English although not all are confident in their skills. They were nice to keep our luggage for an hour after checkout. The hotel is by the lake and is in an area where there are more hotels and restaurants but no shops. Is very close to tram and reception can sell the tickets or you can buy them directly at the station.

The room was on third floor and involved a walk up from the second floor on external staircase and across a little bridge. This was a bit of a nuisance if we got to the ground floor and realised we’d forgotten something in the room - didn’t do it twice! Hotel is really well located just a couple of minutes to tram stop and with parking on site. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

Very neat, light and comfortable. A bit of a walk to the centre, about 25 minutes, but cannot recommend this place enough and will definitely be staying here again if I return to Bordeaux! The attendants were also very nice and willing to help us, apart from one who was quite rude - a pretty big flying bug got into our room through a hole above the AC and when we told the lady she replied by saying ”bugs don't fly” and that there was nothing she could do (obviously this lady knows very little about bugs and being considerate/polite/helpful). Apart from that our stay was really amazing!
