Holiday Inn Munich - Westpark

Munich|1.58km from Krambambuli Restaurant
This hotel is located a few train stops away (Station: Harras) from the central train station, so it was not difficult to get to it. The infrastructure of the city is such that getting around is relatively easy. One just has to follow the directions on a map, whether physical or online, and you are good to go. The check-in process was smooth. I realise getting up and walking to where my room is, that the hotel is quite large, so if you are not up to walking a lot; ask for a room close to the elevator. The room is large and well maintained. I appreciate the bottle of water on top of the minibar fridge for guests. There is a breakfast place just a short walk away if having breakfast at the hotel is not something you would like. Not a minor issue, but it does say in the directory of services that laundry items sent in before 8.30am would be returned by 7pm the same day. However, mine was not and luckily, I was not departing the hotel the next day. It was attributed to a manpower shortage, says the front desk team member; and I know it to be a prevalent issue worldwide. The internet connection in the room is also very slow, especially in the evenings, in my opinion. If you decide to forgo the servicing of your room, hang a “go green” pouch on the doorknob and you will receive a surprise gift. Aside from the bakery around the corner, there are a few eateries close by. Despite the shortcomings, it was an enjoyable, fuss-free stay.

I'm really conflicted about this hotel, in some ways it's a great hotel and in others not so much. I'll start with check in, I booked a ”Queen bed” which to me means bigger than double especially as there is an option for just a double. so had to pay to upgrade to a ”executive room” which had the bigger bed, so another €60 on to our bill, but was discounted from €90. room was big, bed was very big and very comfortable. had to ask for a kettle (had a coffee machine but no kettle) had a minibar so a fridge which the first room didn't have even tho website says a minibar. all rooms have balconies but no furniture out there so I had to ask for chairs, also dont think the balconies have been cleaned in a while, i left foot prints in the dust. bathroom was old and needs refurbishment, shower pressure is rubbish, water drains very slowly and bath has all gone rusty. our first room was right next to the second room and overlooked some car park but then right next to it is a factory and then behind that some excavation work is taking place, the 1st night all was quiet as it was Easter but the second night from 3.30am lorries with there reversing noises where going on and that night the factory noise went on till almost 10pm. this is not the hotels fault- but if booking a room I would ask for a different location for room. breakfast was beautiful, everything u would want, all presented lovely and u could have omlette made to order. we used the resturant the 1st night, the food was very nice but very expensive- but we later found out this is how Germany is. Husband used the gym- mini gym as they call it and it is mini but it kept him happy for an hour. pool is a added bonus but pictures make it look bigger than it is, Sadly it was far too cold for me to get in and the steam/sauna are only turned on at certain times and we missed the time slot but they both looked good sizes. all the staff we came across, from reception, to restaurant and breakfast staff and especially the cleaners were lovely, very polite and helpful if u have any questions or requests. we would stay here again if it was the original price for the larger bed and if we had a different room location.

Park Hotel Laim

Munich|1.84km from Krambambuli Restaurant
How often do you arrive at a suburban hotel on the outskirts of a hugely developed and busy metropolis like Munich and are pleasantly surprised by its pristine and appealing outfit of huge glass windows circumambulating the crescent-shaped entrance? The Park Hotel in ………..in a countrified residential area near parklands in Neu Pasing offered us a wonderful opportunity to discover its origins. Thanks to the generosity of our dear Sister in law, Frau Paul, living in the same area, we stayed for 3 nights over a long weekend in the latter half of September. This 60-year small boutique hotel is incredibly welcoming with friendly staff, an intimate dining cum lounge area (offering coffee and a variety of German cakes and gateaus for a cosy afternoon chit chat) and clean, well furnished comfortable rooms providing all the amenities that a 5-star chain hotel could offer you these days….except one may have to upgrade to enjoy some of the amenities that come with the room at the Park, in a 5 star joint. The Continental breakfast offered variety and eggs in any shape or form offered and cooked with loving care and genuine hospitality. And when you delve into the origins and history of this unique ‘home to home’ arrangements you suddenly discover a unique celebrity connection of a famous pop singer - none other than the one-time heartthrob then Elvis Presley, who actually stayed in this retreat, perhaps in those days surrounded by the serenity and greenery of what may have been a huge forest on the outskirts of Munich, once the hunting ground of the then-contemporary King…..one lives and learns. Thoroughly recommended.

Everything was excellent. Few steps from S-bahn and U-bahn stations, 1 minute :) 4 stops to Marienplatz (city centre) with u-bahn. 4 stops to central train station with s-bahn. Only 15 minutes. Breakfast was excellent. You can find Mediterranean breakfast; olive, tomatoes, lettuce, fried eggs. There are many more alternatives. Because of its location and excellent breakfast, I would stay there if I go to Munich again. But there isn’t mini bar. I prefer cold water even if it’s snowing.

The environment is good, the bathroom is not big, the use is quite convenient, the breakfast is better, the lack of air conditioning, the room is very hot during the day, only a small fan, the room TV is small, it seems that some are not used to it.

Empress Boutique Hotel

Very nice, large and quiet room, love for the detail lacked. At the time of a family member's clinical purchase, I was 4 nights guest at the Empress Hotel. The room was badly cleaned, but this was corrected immediately after my complaint. I was located in the back building, this had the advantage that it was really quiet here, but unfortunately the access path was very poorly illuminated in the evening and not sufficiently widespread or freed from snow. The TV could not be switched off via the remote control, I had to pull the plug, the window which was kicked, I could not close, because here the safety bottles were pressed to protect the intruder and the heft therefore I couldn't use the safe because it didn't work. I also informed the hotel manager, but the shortcomings were not removed during my stay. The Wi-Fi was a single disaster, I used a lot of data volumes because I didn't notice at first that I had to constantly re-select. In the evening, nobody was to reach, I found something scaring. The breakfast buffet was OK, but my musli had to eat from a plastic bowl that I found strange. Dry flowers at the reception are not bad, but have left the impression that I could see everywhere that love is missing in detail.

The parking situation of the hotel is extremely problematic, because it is very narrow and the number of places is, in the city location little surprise, limited. Whoever comes late, therefore, must look for something in the surrounding residential area. When I pick up a parking lot on the second day, my vehicle is quickly damaged. The reception is very supportive. However, the polluter must not worry about the consequences of his driver's escape (only legally, police say, because it is a private property - but feels like that) due to the lack of video monitoring ... My single room is conveniently furnished. The safe is also available for several days of stay. The modern bathroom is lightning clean, guests with longer hair should bring a private fence. The TV device offers a good selection of TV and radio channels including sleeping timers. The last guest probably had a broadcast search, everything is set. After a note to the housekeeping, it is fixed the next day. The Wi-Fi is not always stable, but the house has three separate networks, it always finds a connection. Breakfast in a beautiful atmosphere with friendly service offers a good choice. I missed just Bacon to the roof.
