Xinchang Ancient Town was formed by the deposition of Yangtze River silt at the estuary supported by the tide, with the beach constantly growing. It was named after the southward relocation of the Xia Sha salt field to form a new salt field, hence the name 'Xinchang'. Xinchang Ancient Town's main attractions include the Pudong Academician Style Gallery, the Top Ten Scenic Spots of Xinchang Ancient Town, and the First Floor Tea Garden. The typical architecture of Xinchang Ancient Town mainly consists of multi-entry courtyard-style traditional residences and traditional commercial buildings along the street.
