Coffee & Dessert in Shanghai’s Koreatown

For a classic café experience, head to Cuiqu in Koreatown for some stand-out drip coffee and desserts. We’ve heard that the café’s design concept was based on the Gryffindor common room, and it really does resemble it both lighting and coziness. Here, books line the shelves built into the back wall as patrons sip coffee in cozy lounge chairs and at the long wooden table. Bar stools and tables can be found in the center of the café, in addition to a staircase leading up to more seating on the second floor. Outdoor seating is available in front of the café, though the nearby street area tends to be a bit busy with many people passing by. With the weather warming up, though, it’s not a bad idea to consider sitting outside and enjoying the sunshine over an iced drink. Indoor seating is varied and comfortable, with many patrons hanging out with books or their computers for the whole afternoon. The soufflés at Cuiqu are a big hit, and one is also included in the afternoon tea set which means you’ll get more bang for your buck if you visit with a friend. Intricately crafted cakes are also for sale and we particularly recommend the strawberry ones. Freshly baked breads and pastries are also available and often sold out quickly.
