Tahquamenon Falls State Park is divided into two main waterfall areas, Upper Fall and Lower Fall. Upper Fall is the upstream waterfall, which is very spectacular. The flow size of the waterfall is second only to the Nicaragua waterfall. Because of the relationship between soil minerals and microorganisms in the water, the waterfall color is yellow. The best place to see the maple is in the lower Fall, which is about 4 miles (about 30 minutes walk) upstream and can be reached by car.
