The total area of the Inner and Outer Alster Lake is not very large. It is a good place for Hamburg people to exercise in the morning and relax on weekends. Here the shore is shaded with trees and the well-repaired walkways are built around the lake. If you wander here in the early morning, you'll encounter long-distance runners in tights all the time. And it's also a paradise for large flocks of waterfowl. Swans, geese, mandarin ducks and wild ducks are all here to recuperate and reproduce. On the east side of the bridge between the Ulster Canal and the Nelster Lake is the city hall with copper roofs. If you stand on the bridge in fine weather, you can see the city hall and the canal in the blue sky and white clouds.
