The former airport was the old Baiyun Airport which was built in the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932). In 1963, the name changed to "Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport". (4) On August 5, 2004, the new Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport was officially opened. (3) In February 2015, the third runway of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport was put into operation. (5) According to the information of August 2017, the airport has three runways and one terminal building, with a long-term plan of five runways and three terminal buildings, 138 passenger seats and 45 cargo seats; the total area of Terminal 1 is 523,000 square meters; the total area of Terminal 2 is 630,000 square meters, which is scheduled to be put into use in early 2018; and it covers more than 200 navigation points worldwide, of which more than 80 are international and regional.
