The Tomb of the East King of Sulu Kingdom, located in Beiying Village, north of Dezhou City, Shandong Province, buries a king, his princess and two princes of Sulu Kingdom. It is one of the only tombs of two foreign monarchs in China (the other is the tomb of the Boni King in Nanjing), and it is also the only foreign monarch mausoleum in China where the descendants of foreign royal families guard the tombs. The Tomb of the Eastern King of Sulu is a testimony of the traditional friendship between China and the Philippines. The Tomb of King Sulu is a well-preserved Tomb of the king in the early Ming Dynasty. In 1956, Dongwang Tomb of Sulu State was listed as the first batch of key cultural relics protection units in Shandong Province. On January 13, 1988, it was announced as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.
