We move now to the tropical north of Queensland, complete with World Heritage-listed rainforests, spectacular beaches and most notably, the Great Barrier Reef. However, Cairns is a stunning destination for lovers all by itself

The Fraser Coast region is another great Queensland getaway for honeymooners and other romance-seekers, with Fraser Island (or K'gari is its Indigenous name) – a fabulous highlight of any trip to this part of the state.


The island was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1992, and with its wealth of rainforests, eucalyptus woodland, mangrove forests and sand dunes, you'll be able to see why.

Here you will enjoy staying in a location that is set amidst a magnificent rainforest, beautiful freshwater lakes, beach and other natural wonders. Located on the western side of Fraser Island, directly opposite Hervey Bay, Kingfisher Bay Resort is close to Fraser Island's major attractions. The property is set in a natural amphitheatre, surrounded by bush and wildlife.


Kingfisher Passenger and Vehicle Ferry has four main services to the resort each day from River Heads and return. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes. To catch the passenger or 4WD vehicular ferry to Kingfisher Bay Resort. Alternatively, a courtesy shuttle from Mainland Reception to the jetty will leave 10 minutes prior to departure for walk-on passengers.
