It’s great to see the pandas but some spots were very busy even early in the morning. The outdoor enclosures are quite big so spotting the pandas can be tricky. The best view you will get is the indoor enclosures where they put the food right in front of the window. Overall it’s like a day at the zoo just with pandas and rare monkeys. Definitely worth it!

definitely recommend going during the morning session as it is a bit cooler and more calm. got to see a lot of the pandas in the morning as they were busy eating their breakfast. if you have children or have a group of friends the Panda Base is a must visit spot in Chengdu.

Founded in 1987, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a world-leading center for panda conservation, scientific research, and eco-tourism. Spanning 3.07 square kilometers in northern Chengdu (10km from downtown), it’s home to over 200 giant pandas and red pandas, including adorable cubs in dedicated nurseries.
The base recreates pandas’ natural habitat with bamboo forests, lakes, and streams, offering visitors up-close views of these national treasures. It also features educational facilities like the Giant Panda Museum and Science Discovery Center, highlighting efforts to protect endangered wildlife.

The base is situated at No. 1375, Panda Avenue (Waibei), Chenghua District, Chengdu. It’s 10km north of downtown Chengdu (20–30 minutes by car) and 37km from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (40 minutes by car). Facilities: The hotel exceeded my expectations. The 'Xiao Du' smart assistant was very intelligent, and the in-room hot tub was super flexible. I asked the front desk and they confirmed there are no time or usage limits, which is fantastic – some places restrict that.
Cleanliness: The bedding was spotless, and the detailed cleaning was excellent. Out of all the hotels I've stayed in, I truly feel this one's room hygiene is top-notch.
Environment: The hotel has a small garden where you can sit and soak up the sun, chatting with family. There's also a sky garden on the 6th floor, another lovely spot to relax in the sun and socialize – very pleasant.
Service: From checking in at the entrance to requesting items during my stay, all the staff were incredibly polite. Even when passing them in the hallways, they'd proactively greet us.
Starbucks Coffee Voucher: There's a coffee bar in the hotel garden where you can use our coffee voucher to redeem Starbucks coffee. Of course, you can also order other items if you wish. We had just eaten dinner and wanted coffee, so we didn't get to try anything else, but I'll definitely give it a go next time.

Hotel is in a fantastic location, next to the metro station (Dongmen station Exit C Line 2. The room was clean and of a decent size. The amenities ( shampoo, moisturizer, hand wash) offered were of high quality. House keeper is very friendly and will offer extra bottles of water upon request. The front desk service was efficient and professional. They allowed me to check in before 12:00 and that was very much appreciated when suffering from jet lag. Gym and swimming pool are only open in the afternoon. There are many eateries in the neighbourhood. So you will never go hungry. We just wrapped up a week-long stay at the W Chengdu, and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, the ”Whatever/Whenever” philosophy was on full display.
The Welcome Experience
A huge shoutout to Dylan at the reception! He gave us a fantastic introduction to the property and kicked our trip off on a high note by upgrading us to a room on the 20th floor. His warm welcome and professional energy set the tone for the entire week.
The Room
The room was a sanctuary. Despite facing a busy street, the soundproofing was incredible—it was super quiet and peaceful.
• The Sleep: The bed, pillows, and linens were top-tier. I haven't slept that well in a long time.
• The Vibe: Modern, clean, and perfectly equipped.
Wellness & Amenities
As someone who prioritizes fitness while traveling, I was thoroughly impressed by the gym, swimming pool, and sauna. Everything is state-of-the-art.
One small suggestion: The sauna experience would be even more relaxing if the lighting could be dimmed slightly to create a more ”zen” atmosphere.
Dining
Don’t miss the lunch buffet on the 3rd floor. The food quality was outstanding, but the decor and the view really steal the show. It’s a feast for the eyes as much as the palate!
Bottom line: We are already looking forward to our next trip to Chengdu—we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else. See you again soon, W!

A very satisfying stay! We brought our child to Chengdu for a trip, and the front desk staff proactively offered children's toiletries and slippers, and also had the bellhop help me with my luggage to the room. The room itself wasn't very big, especially compared to hotels built in recent years, but thankfully, it was very clean. We accidentally left our child's toy in the room when we checked out, but thankfully, the front desk called us in time, and we hadn't gone far yet.From$53

For a five-star hotel, you'd expect better from Hilton. They couldn't even clean the toilet properly! I asked for a toilet seat cover twice. The first time, they told me it was behind the toilet, but it was just a sanitary bag. (Honestly, that really annoyed me – are sanitary pads considered that dirty that they need to be individually wrapped and hidden?) I went to the front desk to get a toilet seat cover, and they gave me two more sanitary bags. I only realized this when I got back to my room, which made me so angry I called and asked for a room change. (They said it was an upgrade, but it wasn't really, just a higher floor.) Then they sent up a toilet seat cover via robot, but it was the wrong size and wouldn't fit... The room facilities are very old. The only good thing I can say is that the bed was comfortable. Service and cleanliness both get a thumbs down.From$85

Although the room I stayed in was no windows but it is already very cold. The front desk was nice and polite and very helpful plus it is 24/7 hours service. They even helped us to book a taxi in 5am in the morning and the price was affordable. The hotel room was okay and clean I was able to sleep very comfortably for the 4nights we had. The service was seriously excellent thank you very much and I did not get their names but thanks again will definitely stay here again on this hotel 🥹From$31

So many good things abt this hotel. All the basic cleanliness, hairdryer, fridge, toiletries all there. Wifi is good. Bed is comfortable. Location abit off the main streets but is quiet at night. Smart hotel room with different light settings and indication of privacy or room tidy up. Have to mention that room cleaning is very thorough and efficient 👍 Aircon is not strong though. Very nice citrus fragrance in shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Thick fluffy towels. Free coffee available in lobby.
