Aman Experiences: Of the four Aman hotels I've stayed at, Aman Shanghai is the most recommended, while Aman Kyoto is the least. 1️⃣ Aman Summer Palace, Beijing: The rooms feel a bit dated, and the service isn't as good as at Aman Shanghai. However, the hotel has a back entrance leading directly to the Summer Palace, great for morning runs. 2️⃣ Aman Yangyun, Shanghai: Picturesque scenery, warm service, and even little animals for kids to play with. The restaurant food is excellent; breakfast fruits are fresh, and there's a delicious, authentic small-pot rice noodle dish. 3️⃣ Amanfayun, Hangzhou: This hotel was restored and renovated from Fayun Ancient Village within the West Lake Lingyin scenic area, surrounded by a 'cluster of temples.' Lingyin Temple, the first famous temple in Jiangnan, is about a 10-minute walk away. Since the hotel is converted from an ancient village, the lighting at night is dim, and the decor is rustic... There are also many mosquitoes. The swimming pool is very old and outdoors... After Evergrande's collapse, the hotel staff are currently self-managing, and there are many plump stray cats around. The kids had a great time petting them... 4️⃣ Aman Kyoto, Japan: I arrived at Aman Kyoto with high expectations, but was sorely disappointed. The hotel is situated in a narrow mountain ravine, with trees in front of the guest rooms and a nearly dry stream behind them. The rooms are very small. Ground floor rooms can be opened to the outside, but it's just woods and scattered rocks; second-floor rooms just look out onto the trees near the entrance. The room design is already dated. The wooden bathtub's wood has turned black, and it even broke one day, rendering it unusable. What I found most unacceptable was that the hotel's bedsheets were very old and had a hole in them. The bedding wasn't changed at all during our three-day stay, so we had to live with the torn sheet for three days. Pros: The hotel breakfast tastes good, but the cooking methods and ingredients are pretty much the same every day. By the third day, I could barely eat any more...

This hotel, boasting a private garden, is practically flawless except for the high humidity due to its proximity to West Lake. From the moment you step in, it feels like coming home. In your free time, you can wander through the meandering Jiangnan-style gardens, with a new picturesque view at every turn, leaving a lasting impression. The hotel's unique location offers excellent connectivity to nearby attractions, making sightseeing incredibly convenient. For guests who appreciate peace and quiet, it's an ideal retreat.

The room was very spacious and even had a balcony. Traveling with my parents, who prefer a firm bed, the flippable mattress was perfect for them, and they slept really well. Waking up in the morning, I could hear birds chirping. The natural surroundings made for a very comfortable trip.

I used to stay at the Shangri-La West Wing all the time, and they always said the East Wing was under renovation. Then last year I saw it had opened, and it looked beautiful, so I thought I'd treat myself to a stay for my milestone birthday this time around. It turned out to be even better than I expected! The hotel is gorgeous, and the room layout is very stylish. But what's even better is the thoughtful service. My private travel ambassador, VANESSA, thoughtfully noticed it was my birthday and prepared a special surprise for me, which really warmed my heart. The breakfast quality is excellent, and the atmosphere in the Western restaurant is lovely. If you want to add some special experiences to your everyday life, I highly recommend coming here!

A very distinctive hotel. The environment is quiet, the rooms are large, and the decoration is Chinese style, which is very grand. I booked 2 rooms of the same price, but the room layouts are completely different. I asked the housekeeper, and the housekeeper said that each room type of Zixuan is different. The housekeeper service is very thoughtful, especially when checking in, the room introduction is very detailed. Dinner was eaten at the hotel's Jiexianglou (one Michelin star, two black pearl diamonds), which was fine except that it was expensive. The hotel's breakfast is very rich, with Chinese, Japanese, Western and other set meals to choose from, which are thoughtful and rich. We are a family traveler, and Zixuan's environment, food and thoughtful service make the elders and children very satisfied, so it must be highly praised!

It was overall an alright stay, don’t expect Japanese standards. Apparently they had a soft opening period and just opened on April 15. You can see that things aren’t running so smoothly yet, trip.com shows that spa needs to be booked a day in advance, but on WeChat they said no reservations required and we can use anytime. The second day we wanted to use the spa our second time, and was told by a staff we couldn’t use it again, which we were confused about. Later other staff said we could. The spa itself had spectacular views, but the outdoor pool weirdly had half eaten and rotten apples floating around. After talking to the spa staff they said it was for aesthetic purposes and guests must have eaten them without knowing that. Worrying hygiene standards 😨 apart from that overall hygiene seems to be alright. All rooms have our own private courtyard so there are two doors, the main wooden door and then the glass door to our actual room. The main wooden door broke down twice - we couldn’t lock it (more like they didn’t fix the problem fully the first time), which wasted our time as we had to sit around to watch the maintenance staff fixing our door. Breakfast was okay but half the dishes were way too salty for my taste. Weird mix of “Western”, “Japanese” and Chinese dishes. Cheaper to buy on the spot (168 yuan as of today). Service was not up to the standard of a hotel of this price point. The staff welcoming us seems like she was reading from a script, we couldn’t hear half the time even after asking her to enunciate clearer twice. Felt like they were here to monitor us more than take care of us. Instead of “how may I help you?”, they actually responded “what’s wrong?” on two separate occasions. I don’t think this is acceptable! Some staff also do not greet guests properly.

The hotel is near the subway and the canal with lots of souvenir shops and cafes but quite far from most of the attractions. Not for summer time when lots of walking required

Park Hyatt Hangzhou boasts a superb location, with The MixC mall directly downstairs and Raffles City also conveniently nearby. The rooms are spacious, bright, and efficiently designed, featuring a generously sized desk and a thoughtful layout. The breakfast is excellent, offering à la carte options. The bar on the 48th floor even features a glass skywalk, perfect for Instagram-worthy photos. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my stay and would certainly choose Park Hyatt Hangzhou again on my next visit to Hangzhou.

The hotel's location is excellent. Although it's not on a high floor, there are no other tall buildings nearby, offering a wide-open view. We booked a hotel package to celebrate our wedding anniversary and, based on Harry's suggestion at the front desk, upgraded to the Hangzhou Suite – a fantastic choice. From up there, you can see West Lake to your left and the Grand Canal to your right, with Wulin Square right beneath you, truly living up to the suite's name. We could also spot Leifeng Pagoda and Baochu Pagoda, and even glimpse Beifeng Mountain in the distance. The room amenities were complete, and all the supplies were excellent. Customer service was efficient. The desserts at the Executive Lounge were quite good, but the evening light meal was really disappointing, arguably the worst part of our stay. It wasn't just poor compared to the Tianjin Four Seasons; it was even 'simpler' than what you'd find at an average Hyatt or Marriott, much to the dismay of the waitstaff. The breakfast, however, was decent, with good pastries. The butter knife was conveniently placed with the cutlery, which was a nice touch. The doormen, front desk staff, and the female manager in the lobby all provided excellent, polite, and efficient service, even remembering guests' surnames. The service at the Executive Lounge was also good. While I was initially very satisfied with the breakfast restaurant's service, waiting ten minutes for a coffee and then having it made incorrectly just before leaving was a bit of a letdown. Overall, most aspects live up to the Four Seasons' reputation and price, but the Executive Lounge's dinner was simply too bad.

Our service manager (WeChat: 鱼干) was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Although we did not enjoy our experience at the restaurant—the food was poor, and the service wasn't up to standard. After we gave her our feedback, she quickly responded to it. She also helped us arrange a shuttle to and from Xixi Wetland and personally delivered our tickets. We are very grateful for her help. Overall, we would recommend the hotel but advise avoiding the restaurant.
