I stayed at the Jiuholi Courtyard Homestay within Datong Ancient City for three days during my three-day trip to Datong. By the end of it, I was seriously considering saving up to buy a courtyard home myself! The owner just laughed and said, 'That's not something you can just save up for!' Hahahaha, and he's right! This little courtyard is just so peaceful and comfortable. The room temperature, amenities, and bedding quality were all excellent.
Location: It's just a few minutes' walk to the ancient city, with the city wall right across the street. Getting to Huayan Temple and the Nine-Dragon Wall was super convenient, all within walking distance.
Service: The service was genuinely impeccable. The owner personally handled our pick-up and drop-off, making us feel like we were being hosted by a favorite uncle – perfectly attentive without being intrusive. The front desk staff were absolutely wonderful, dedicated to providing excellent service, and always spoke softly and politely.
Amenities: They had a Dyson hairdryer, L'Occitane toiletries, and a smart heated toilet seat. I finally stayed in a smart voice-controlled room in the north! [crying emoji][crying emoji] Even the five-star hotels I've stayed in didn't have voice control, but this place does!
Living Environment: It was so quiet and peaceful. Plus, during my stay, the other guests were all very considerate; I didn't hear a peep from anyone else. I absolutely loved the room decor! I seriously want the hotel's design plans, haha!
I'm not a shill, but they made my stay so enjoyable that I just have to help promote them a little. I'll definitely be back next time! #DatongHotel #CourtyardStay

GGuest UserI can’t stop raving about this inn. It is a B&B style three stories tall inn located inside the Datong Ancient City. Complimentary shuttle service between the airport or railway station made it really convenient for out of town travelers. The guest room was clean and equipped with modern facilities like automatic toilets, coded entry, projection screens, etc. The inn is located near the north gate of the city amongst other accommodations. Within minutes of walking is access to the top of the city wall where bike rental is available to ride along the wall. The inn is very quiet at night. The inn is family operated and everyone was very hospitable. What sets this inn apart from other accommodations in the area is their dedication to service. The owner knew I was a tourist and new to the area, she offered to pick me up if I got lost wandering the ancient city. The breakfast came with my reservation. When the owner found out I had to depart before breakfast serving hours, she went above and beyond to prepare food and served me 30 minutes ahead of schedule. The food tasted amazing and came with abundant varieties and huge portions. It was definitely not part of the service to drop off at another venue, but the owner took me to my next accommodation 2km away. I truly appreciate everything this inn and its staff has done for me. I am so glad to have chosen to stay this beautiful little inn on my first night in Datong. I will definitely stay here again without a doubt on my next visit.

GGuest UserTraveling during the Chinese New Year, it was incredibly crowded and there were traffic restrictions, so our car couldn't enter the ancient city. However, the hotel staff went above and beyond, picking up our family of three one by one using electric carts. We were very satisfied with the room facilities, which were comparable to a 5-star hotel we stayed at in Singapore, and many areas had a great design aesthetic. Although there was a significant price premium due to the holiday, we were overall very happy with the value for money.

GGuest UserThis hotel is located right in the old city, just a ten-minute walk to Daiwang Mansion and a one-minute walk to Huayan Temple, which is incredibly convenient. The owners are very warm and welcoming, and their service is excellent. They even offer complimentary fruit. The accommodations are great, with good soundproofing and all the necessary facilities. I highly recommend staying here.

JJoyce CPCThis hotel is located in the heart of the ancient city of Datong. Although there were few steps of staircase leading to the entrance of the hotel and the reception was on level 2 and our room type was only available on the 3rd level. Upon check in the hotel staff by the name of Xiao Guo was very helpful and she helped us to carry our luggages to our room at level 3.. There was a small window in our room overseeing the street. The room was spacious and very clean. All corners, fixtures and furnitures in our room were wiped very clean. All amenities were provided inside the room too. The bed mattress and pillow were soft and very comfortable. Body gel, hair shampoo, hair conditioner, hand wash and clothing detergent were all good quality. 2 water bottles, toothbrush, hair comb and slippers were provided in the room. There were space to hang our winter clothing and also washed socks and inner wears. The air-conditioner was superb as it can be adjusted to 4 types of air:normal, wet reduction, cold air and warm air, hence it made our stay more comfortable. There was also an air freshener machine in the room to refresh the air inside the room. So far this is the cleanest hotel room throughout all my China trips. The housekeeper was friendly and ensure the room being cleaned up daily. Overall, I would like to compliment the hotel staff by the name of Xiao Guo for her hospitality and kindness in helping us when we asked her for any information about Datong and places to eat. Xiao Guo always smilling and her warmness has let us felt very welcomed as a hotel guest. Another compliment was to be given to the housekeeper old lady who really did a great job to ensure the cleanliness of our hotel room and the entire hotel public areas. Highly recommended this hotel to all tourist.

The owner was very friendly and welcoming. They kindly picked us up at the railway station and helped us arrange a car rental to visit Xuankong Temple, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, and the Yungang Grottoes.
The breakfast was also delicious and a great way to start the day.
Their hospitality and assistance made our trip much easier and more enjoyable.

GGuest UserThe location is superb, right within the ancient city. For those driving, parking is available at the Nine Dragon Wall parking lot, just a 100-meter walk away. Despite being in a tourist area, it offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. Guandi Temple is also conveniently located nearby. The service was excellent, and breakfast was quite good too. Both the owner and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. Although the May Day holiday prices were significantly higher than usual, the convenience made it completely worthwhile. Highly recommended!

GGuest UserWe took a 23-day trip through China, staying in 9 different hotels. Without hesitation, I can say that our stay at Floral stood out in many ways. First, the hotel's structure is very beautiful and has been renovated while staying true to the traditional style of the region. The hotel room itself was probably the most beautiful we had seen on our entire trip: spacious, with windows that actually opened, good air conditioning, and modern decor and furniture without being over the top. Second, the hotel's location is within the boundaries of the city wall and is part of the old town, so beautiful to walk around and see the traditional houses - many of them renovated according to the traditional style. And third and most importantly, the kindness of the people who work at the hotel. I have never felt so welcome anywhere on holiday as at this place. Unfortunately, I arrived with health problems and needed antibiotics - equivalents of the ones I had brought from Europe. I asked the reception where I could find the closest pharmacy, but rather than guiding me there, Xiao Liu, the lady at the reception, figured out for me which antibiotic would be the right one and got it for me. The same when we needed a suitcase, rather than sending me to the shop she inquired about our desired suitcase and in one hour it was there. Drinks are complementary at any time of the day, and the breakfast (Chinese and international - sandwiches) was generous and unlimited. When we were running late coming back from the grottoes and needed to catch a train, Xiao Liu helped us out by bringing us all our suitcases directly to the train station. We will never forget all these acts of kindness and we are still grateful to her and the entire hotel staff for making us feel so much at home. Datong will stay in our minds and hearts forever thanks to the people of the Floral hotel. Datong is special enough for all the incredible cultural sights you can visit - but our stay there will never be forgotten thanks to the beauty of the Floral Hotel and its amazing people. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

GGuest UserI was greeted with a fruit platter during check-in, which was a wonderful welcome gesture considering I left my home about 24 hours earlier, traveling non-stop from California to Datong, China. The Inn provides a wonderful experience for the first-time foreign visitor. The interior decor has that Chinese charm consisting of artwork, a book display, an aquarium with an auspicious collection of 8 large fishes (carp, I think), in-room tea set with an on-table electric stove, which would be unique to most Westerners. The glass flooring adds an extraordinary appeal since I have never experienced that in a hotel before, and I have traveled to dozens of countries.
The Inn is well located, a short bus ride to Datong Railway Station (for non-high-speed rail travel)*, and a short taxi ride to Datong South Railway Station (for high-speed rail travel)**. It is just next to Datong City Wall. You can walk along the top of the City Wall at no cost. A 10-20 minute walk takes you to nearly all the attractions within the ancient City Wall. Here you will also find a variety of restaurants serving local food as well as souvenir shops. There is also a small shop that sells sundry items including drinks (beer included) within a 5-minute walk from the Inn. Across from this sundry shop, is a shop that specializes in ancient Chinese clothing (Hanfu dress). They can dress you up, cosmetics included.
The Inn provides directions to Yujian Yun Gang - a popular destination for travelers to Datong. Here you will see ancient Buddhist cave art, including large and tall (several stories tall) sculptures. It takes two bus rides to get there, 1RMB per ride.
My booking choice was for either a guest room on the 1st or 2nd floor but was assigned a wonderful 2nd-floor guest room.
The owners of the Inn were exceptionally friendly. I met both the mother and her daughter. My room was professionally cleaned and provided with drinking bottled water daily.
If I return to Datong in the future, I will certainly book a room at this Inn.
*I took a train from this station to travel south to Xinzhou after checking out.

JJames56It was a pleasant surprise to see such a bright and cheerful room, so close to the train station and a shopping mall and hypermarket. The lady at the reception was very helpful and pleasant. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom has very good shower and drainage. The best we have seen! On top of that, we were allowed to do our laundry for free! Transport was convenient. Lots of buses around and easy to visit the tourist attractions. Highly recommend this hotel!
