Labrang Temple, located in Xiahe County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, is called "Sudan Xiazhu Darji Tashi Yisuqi", meaning that the Xiuxiuxiang auspicious right-hand temple. For short, the Tabrang Temple is generally called Labrang Temple. The Labrang Temple is an inflection of the Tibetan "Lazhang", meaning the mansion of the living Buddha master. It is one of the six major monasteries of the Tibetan Buddhist Gelu school, known as the "World Tibetan Academy" in the world. During its heyday, more than 4,000 monks were opened to the public in 1980. At the 2018 China Northwest Tourism Marketing Conference and Tourism Equipment Exhibition, it was shortlisted on the "Magic Northwest 100 Views" list. In 1982, it was designated as a key cultural relics protection unit in the country by the State Council.
