Asbury Church

The Chongwenmen Church of the Beijing Christian Church was built in 1870. When the church was first built, its appearance was the same as it is now, but its scale was relatively small, and it could only accommodate four or five hundred people for gatherings. As the number of believers in the church continued to increase, the Methodist Church rebuilt the church on the original site in 1880, and the new church was completed in 1882. The church was burned down during the Boxer Movement in the summer of 1900. In 1902, the Qing government allocated funds to rebuild the Yasili Church, which was completed in the spring of 1904. This is the chapel today. In the summer of 1958, various churches in Beijing implemented joint worship services, and Yasili Church suspended its activities. During the "Cultural Revolution", various equipment in the church was severely damaged and beyond recognition. In the spring of 1982, the Beijing Municipal Government implemented the religious policy. With the assistance of relevant departments and after various negotiations, after paying 20,000 yuan to 125 Middle School, after extensive renovations, Yasili Church officially changed its name to Beijing Christian Church Chongwenmen. Church, and resumed gatherings at Christmas that year. The architectural style of Chongwenmen Hall is unique. The entire church covers an area of 8,246 square meters. The church is divided into two main halls, the main hall and the auxiliary hall. The main hall has more than 400 seats, and the auxiliary hall has more than 300 seats. There is a shutter in the middle that can move up and down. Can be used separately or in combination. The chapel is circular in shape, with a wooden double-layer umbrella structure as a whole, and the architectural style is very unique.
