Located on School Street, in the former City Hall courtyard, it is the oldest bronze statue in Boston, smiling and solemn, which is the famous Benjamin Franklin statue. Nearby is the first public school in the United States, the Boston Latin School, which was built in 1635 and still provides educational services in the Boston Finnish community.
