One of the most beautiful cathedrals I have ever visited - both inside and out!

In Siena area, this is a must see attraction. When you walk in, you can feel the past. Artwork. That stone. Just wondering who will be walking where you are when. Even if you are not religious, you cannot deny that the cathedral has a spiritual feeling. I think you should buy a ticket including the cellar. Can't miss it!

Built between 1215 and 1263, the cathedral is an earlier Italian building. The exterior and interior of the cathedral consist of white and dark green marble, alternately striped, and black and white is the symbol of Siena. A second large-scale expansion of the main body of the cathedral was planned in 1339, but the Black Death pandemic in 1348 led to the shutdown and the work was never resumed. What can now be seen is the exterior wall of the southern cathedral. You can climb one of the walls through narrow stairs to enjoy the city view.

On the way to Florence, I stayed for one night in Siena, a medieval town in Tuscany, with few tourists (relatively less thieves). If it weren't for the impact of the Black Death, the original goal of building Siena Cathedral was to surpass St. Peter's Basilica. Some say that Tusca is the closest place to heaven, ascending to the tower of Manga overlooking, the original heaven is so real and beautiful.
