If you are a Navy enthusiast, the Queensland Maritime Museum will satisfy your curiosity about a variety of naval vessels. The museum was built in 1917 and is located on Brisbane's south shore. The museum has dazzling displays, including model boats copied from the wrecks off the coast of Queensland, while the restored Royal Australian Navy ship Diamantina is the treasure of the museum's town hall, where you can climb to the frigate built in 1945 Find the traces of the fierce naval battle. Another highlight is a huge map showing the site of more than 1,500 shipwrecks in Queensland since 1791, most of which have been on rocks and sunk.

History on The South Bank BrisbaneOur first stop on our sightseeing tour of Brisbane. My husband loves boats and history. Arrived early this was good as no air con in the ship you go in.This is a small boat yard museum at the end of the South Bank, the main destroyer is laid out easily to walk through with plenty to look at and read about from its era, giving a great insight to how life was for those on board back many years ago.She was in a dry dock to give you a proper look at her overall size. After this we’re some smaller craft an engine room and various guns etc from the war.We spent a couple of hours here and would highly recommend to any history buffs or ship lovers. They also had on the walls many of our “sayings” then a full explanation of where they originated from.

Queensland Maritime Museum, you need to buy tickets to enter, if you are a fan of the ship, it is a good choice. If you live in the city center, you can take a free ferry to the Maritime Museum.
