Great location in Midtown, just blocks from the Empire State Building, Macy's, and several dining and breakfast options. Easy walk to subway and even Times Square (20 minutes). Rooms are small, but clean and very comfortable. (We were impressed by how much storage space was available in the room.) Amenities are not fancy (small restaurant with limited options, small gym), but it's an excellent starting point for exploring the city. There was some noise bleed from neighboring rooms, but none from outside.

”Hip” and ”boutique” has become a metaphor for dirty and unclean. The ”hotel room” was bare bones, dirty, with previous guests used personal toys left behind end tables. The small kitchen was barely usable - no under cabinet lighting, no dishwasher, small fridge, coffee maker dirty and unclean, same for the broken toaster, no dishwashing soap for even the small amount of utensils and glassware. No effort was made to clean underneath the bed; the bed itself sagged. The room view is into tenement like housing (if I wanted a West Side Story experience, I would go to the theater rather than pay for this cheap ...calling it a hotel is a stretch). The balcony is a joke (at worse a hazard (make sure the balcony door is locked.) The corner space between the top mattress and boxspring was dirty, crumbs, dust, etc - clearly had not been vacuumed or cleaned since the Roosevelt administration. Wi-Fi is subpar. Another effort by a non-corporate hospitality company (or whoever owns this dump) to milk tourists who come to New York by renovating whatever this building used to be into a sub standard ”hotel” rooms and skating by on ”location.”

Times Square New York|5.31km from city center
The first thing I will mention is that the hotel is 5 star and is expectedly, very expensive, being in the heart of Times Square. I took this into account when writing my review. If I am paying that much, my expectations would be higher than normal. I stayed for 12 nights over the Christmas and NY period so I obtained a very comprehensive view of the hotel and everything about it. Overall it was a very comfortable stay and the staff were always there to attend to any requests and issues. The moment I got out of my transfer car, there was a lovely young gentleman waiting to get all my bags and transport me upstairs to the reception. The check-in was reasonably flawless but there was a bit of confusion around the payment because of resort fees the hotel charges daily. I prepaid my booking and there was confusion over whether it included or excluded the resort fee. The reception area is immaculately presented and the bar and restaurant are both located here. I intended to use the gym during my stay, but didn't have time to even take a peek. Nor did I visit the bar or restaurant. There's way too many options outside to do that. The very polite and courteous young gentleman then took me up to my room. He showed me everything and away he went. I got a bit of a room upgrade which I highly appreciated and had a beautiful view of Times Square. I was on the 2nd highest floor, floor 39. The room is not big. It was adequate for one person but nothing more. I don't think I would be able to stay here if I was with another person. It would be too uncomfortable and I had to find space for my 2 suitcases and carry-on. The bathroom is open plan, with a door for the shower and toilet. A big problem I had in my room was that if it was windy you will hear a loud whistle coming through the bottom of the front door. It really annoyed me. I had to take the cover off the bed and make a snake shape to block the gap underneath the door to stop the noise. Even a bath towel didn't work. They need to fix this. The hotel is very new and the rooms are very beautifully equipped, presented and maintained. I was pleased to see that most of the things I requested before I arrived (some extra bath mats, bath towels, hand towels, face towels, mini fridge, bathroom scale) were mostly there upon arrival. I quantified the number of towels I needed as I was not getting any housekeeping during my 12 night stay but I did not get the quantity requested. I expected a bit more attention to detail for a 5 star hotel. Before I arrived I was asked if I was celebrating a special occasion and Guest Services pushed up my expectations as I was celebrating a special occassion and they said something nice, I assume maybe a cake or some alcohol would be waiting for me in the room. When I arrived there was nothing. And there was never going to be anything throughout my stay. I didn't mind and only remembered towards the end of the stay. When I enquired via email I was met with silence. They

The room has a good view and compared to the same price, I personally think it is not up to standard, but it is very comfortable. It is understandable in this area of NYC. If you want a good view, you can’t go wrong by booking this hotel. You must book the Skyline. The highest floor that the elevator can reach is 36 Skyline. The line is at 35. It’s really beautiful at night. If you are looking for comfortable accommodation, there are better hotels at the same price. Although there are always patrols in the busier streets of Manhattan, there are still some homeless and secluded small hotels nearby when you go out at night. Try not to walk on the alley. I hope everyone goes out together at night and pays attention to safety.

My room had a nice view. I originally booked it for four nights, but I couldn't check in due to something unexpected. I applied for a refund and the hotel agreed. But one thing that made me very angry at the time was that the staff didn't lock the door for me after house keeping was completed. I went out at noon and came back at three o'clock in the morning. There was no theft or anything like that. The ice machine was right at the door of my room. There are so many people coming and going that it makes me scared just thinking about it!

The Edison Hotel is the perfect place to stay when visiting Manhattan! The location, which is right in the theatre district and a block and a half away from Times Square, is exceptional. One can take a short walk over to Ninth Avenue where there are dozens and dozens of great restaurants. It is near everything!!! The staff were great! They seemed to go out of their way to be polite and professional, which is unusual in this area. Our room was very nice with a King Bed and a great view of the city. While we did not try the Hotel's restaurants and bars they seemed to be fulled of happy customers. The room price, when compared to value provided, is a bargain. You can easily pay a lot more in this area and receive a lot less.. I have stayed in this general area at a number of Hotels in the past that failed to motivate me to write a review. Try this Hotel the next time you are in town. You will come back!!

New York City Center New York|4.46km from city center
I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I stayed there back in 2004 and loved it and was so glad that it was still there. Murray Hill is a great neighborhood that is centrally located (a few blocks from Grand Central). It is quieter and more residential than a lot of nearby neighborhoods, with less expensive places to eat, drugstores, grocery store, a post office, a convenience store, a laundromat, coffee shops, etc. I highly recommend Previti's Pizza, House of Lasagna, and Bagel Express. Their food was amazing and the staff at each were lovely. The hotel room was large by New York standards, as was the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and there was a mini fridge, which was a pleasant surprise. The shower was absolutely wonderful, very large walk-in with excellent water pressure, which is not true of a lot of places in NYC. The weather was impacted by Hurricane Ian, so some nights we were too hot or too cold, because they had to switch back to heat, but that wasn't too bad. The staff here were very gracious and there was a gentleman out front who very kindly helped us with our bags and opened car doors for us, which was a nice treat.

How do you say this hotel ... The Times Square photos you see are most likely to include this hotel. It's really in the most lively core area. Although the rooms are all soundproofed, they must be crowds when they go out ... The hotel's own bar has a unique view, but it is difficult to catch. The rooms are in good condition but not luxurious.

We stayed here for a 6 night family vacation. Check in was quick and practical. All staff in this hotel were very friendly - extra kudos to the people working the breakfast area! We were upgraded to a bigger family room than we booked, with a queen beds, a separate sitting area with TV and a separate kitchen - on the 12th floor. Very spacious accommodation. Everything was clean, although you can see these rooms get used a lot. Plenty of power outlets to charge your devices, decent WiFi. The only thing we missed is more facilities to dry your towels, we had to hang them all over the apartment to dry. Breakfast was a bit basic with a lot of prepackaged stuff and no bacon for the entire week we were staying there (not that we really missed it, but it's strange nonetheless). I also wonder who ever eats scrambled egg whites? But that might be us :-) Excellent location in lower Manhattan with metro and plenty of shops close by. The entrance of the hotel is in Maiden Ln, not on Broadway however. Walking distance to Brooklyn Bridge, WallStreet, Battery Park, 9-11 memorial.

The daily amenity fee is 39.9 US dollars including tax, which must be paid. Drinks and food can be consumed in the minibar for no more than 25 US dollars. The problem is that a 750ml bottle of Evian is 16 US dollars, so I only saw this fee in this American hotel, which is very bad! The phone service was extremely slow to respond, not at all Intercontinental service standards. There are also random deductions from the credit card deposit, and one extra person's breakfast fee. I only said to apologize when I went to find it in person, and said that it would take 5 working days to return the same way. So this InterContinental is not recommended at all in New York! !

The reason for the poor review only has to be due to what I can only describe as a dangerous event. On our first evening at 0130hrs we were spoken to a strong smell of cannabis so much we were sick. The corridor outside our room was dense smoke like there was a fire! I went to reception who did not seem phased and move us to another floor! No attempt was made to locate the offender all be it there was no doubt it was coming from the room next to ours! The rest of the stay 6 days was uneventful until we checked out! We made sure there was not any transaction on our credit card which you are required to leave at booking in, we were told there was not however when return to the Uk we discovered £1078 had been taken from both parties credit cards! Reported to card company who directed us back to hotel as it was made there! Hotel does not reply to emails and when you ring will not discuss!!! Be very careful, we are now told by Virgin who we booked holiday with it will take in excess of 28 days to sort out, in the mean time we will still have to pay interest on card which will not be refunded

The Martinique was my first stop in New York. As a solo traveller I was comforted to find out that it was slap bang in the middle of all the attractions I had planned to see. I could walk to Times Square very easily and in the other direction to Chelsea. I probably wouldn’t get the breakfast if I stayed again (it was delicious especially the fruit and yoghurt). There was a charge at the desk when I arrived and I could have used this balance for a breakfast and other snacks instead of paying additional money for a breakfast included in the price of my room. Overall, a lovely place to stay. Great that there was a coffee shop in the foyer to set me up for a day of exploring!

Wall Street/Financial District New York|0.78km from city center
To begin with, I must stress that we only used our room, and spoke to staff on the reception area. I’ve no idea on the quality of the rooftop bar nor restaurant at the hotel. Location: We booked knowing that this was in the Financial district, but I was elated with the location. We got the air-train & subway from JFK and the hotel is just a few blocks from Fulton Street Subway station. I am a quick walker, and found that the World Trade Center was only 5 minutes from the hotel, the same with Wall Street / the waterfront which was a great location to me. There were plenty of shops / restaurants / etc. in the area (where doesn’t have that in NYC?). There was construction work taking place across the street from the hotel entrance, but never any issues with traffic or noise. Reception / Staff: We arrived in the evening on a Wednesday and the staff on reception were really welcoming as we were checking in. They were taking the time to say hello to returning guests as they came through the lobby. We experienced this ourselves whenever we returned to the hotel. It may be a small thing, but it showed good customer service to me. Room: A lot of rooms in NYC are “small” when compared to counterparts in other cities so I never expect masses of space. I was happy with the size of our room when we arrived. We were on the 21st floor, and our room was on the corner overlooking the front of the building and the construction site across the street. There was small walkway between the door to the room and the bedroom. 2 of us stayed there with 2 cases and we found enough room to move around. The bed was comfortable, everything in the room worked. We had a coffee machine and bottled water given to us for drinking. The bathroom had a shower & toiletries, and it was clear everything was clean. When I'm back in NYC, I'd happily stay here again!

I moved from a Times Square hotel where my room was old and the size of a closet to the Renaissance Chelsea. I used points for the stay and the manager Jessica greeted me by name and told me that she had been working on my reservation and was happy to upgrade me to a suite. They offered the standard points and also offered points in lieu of breakfast, along with a late checkout. This was wonderful and much appreciated. What I appreciated even more was the beautiful, spacious, clean suite with a fabulous view of the Empire State Building and New York City. Beautiful art throughout and nice clean furniture. Even though the room as ADA, it was still nice and I felt so relaxed in this space vs coming from a space that was brown, small, noisy and hot/humid. Oh, they also gave me a brand new (still in the package) compact umbrella for the threatening evening rain. - I will definitely stay here on my next trip to NYC!

Overall a very solid hotel with very welcoming and helpful front desk staff. The rooms are decently sized for NYC and well-appointed with the essentials. I was impressed when on at least one evening there was even turndown service. The shower took a minute or so to have a proper water flow, though the pressure was never all that great. I appreciate having the Nespresso machine and pods in the room. The room type is square and the electrical facilities are complete. The lobby checkin is waiting for drinks, and the elevator diversion is very user-friendly (because I don't like sharing elevators with strangers). The bedding and bathrobe texture are so comfortable! On the 25th floor, you can see the Empire State Building directly on one side of the window on both sides, and the sunset view of the skyline on the other side. room service is also great, the only downside is that the phone answering is slower (basically it takes three times to answer). Park, restaurants, drugstores, grocery store nearby. The desk staff always had a friendly greeting if they weren't busy with a guest, and the staff in the breakfast room were welcoming and kept the breakfast bar neat and well-stocked and the tables clean. Given Manhattan hotel room sizes and prices, we thought our room was an adequate size for two people and the price not out of line for its excellent location. Our sixth floor room was quiet; traffic noise was never an issue. We appreciated that we could ask for and receive daily room service. The bed was comfortable, the pillows exceptionally nice.

It is also within walking distance of Greenwich Village so we took a walking tour over there. The subway is 3 long blocks and I would step quickly in one section away from pan handlers. So the locations has both advantages & disadvantages. We did not travel with a car so I don't know about parking. Our room was facing the front street and it was quiet and comfortable. I like the decor. We pre-purchased a weekend breakfast in the adjoining restaurant and that was pleasant. As early risers, there were no problems getting a table. Stayed here one night with my family and was extremely happy with the service, the room, and the location. We were on the 23rd floor in a double suite and the room was perfect, roomy and the view was spectacular. Room had a small kitchenette which was perfect to keep snacks and beverages in a full fridge. Keurig and coffee and tea provided as well. Starbucks conveniently located on corner.

Very busy but efficient hotel. Great room with a view. Most importantly the service and professionalism from MEKHI who was at the front desk. He answered all my questions and helped direct me to parking and a local metting. Mekhi was GREAT.

I think it is a cost-effective hotel compared to the murderous prices in New York. The location is really great! Koreatown is within walking distance! The staff were also friendly.

My room was comfortable, spacious and very clean. The housekeeping service was excellent, and it was brilliant to have a fridge and air conditioning - so easy to relax in peace and have a quick snack. The location in the east village is fantastic - very close to multiple subway lines, stores, restaurants and bars. While it is a little noisy outside - it's New York, that is to be expected, and I had no problems sleeping. The hotel itself was very quiet, I never heard other guests. I will definitely be staying here again when I visit New York - great value for money!

We have stayed at this hotel multiple times, the most recent 8/19 - 8/23. We were dropping my daughter off at FIT, which is about a 5 minute walk away. Every time we have stayed here, all of the staff have been incredibly helpful and friendly. The room decor is definitely outdated, but the rooms have always been incredibly clean. The cleaning staff in the morning was quick to respond to our request for more towels. A simple breakfast of bagels/muffins is included, which helped us to start our day. The location is fantastic, with easy access to the 1 train which takes you uptown/downtown. A huge shoutout to the front desk staff on the Sunday morning of move-in to FIT that allowed us to borrow the luggage cart for 20 minutes to move her in! When we visit NYC we are rarely in the room - so the outdated/simple decor does not bother us in the least. If you are looking for clean, safe, basic accommodations, this is an excellent choice. We will definitely be back!
