Location: The hotel is situated within the ancient city walls, making it a short walk to major attractions like Huayan Temple and Gulou Street. Service: The service was excellent. We stayed two nights and met different staff members, but every single one greeted guests with a warm smile and a proactive, friendly hello, which was very pleasant. Additionally, the complimentary airport pick-up service was a delightful surprise. The vehicle was new, spacious, and comfortable, and most importantly, the driver's service was incredibly thoughtful and outstanding! Ambiance: The hotel is a traditional Datong siheyuan (quadrangle courtyard). Although not very large, it has a homey feel. Lounging on the deck chair outside the room, soaking up the sun, and sipping on the complimentary sea buckthorn juice from the hotel was incredibly relaxing 😌. Breakfast: The breakfast was very distinctive, featuring a variety of delicious Datong dishes carefully prepared by the hotel's aunties – truly tasty. Next time I visit Datong, I will definitely come back to stay here again. Looking forward to it! 🥰

Facilities: The design is excellent, and all the amenities are thoughtfully arranged and very practical. The bed and pillows are incredibly comfortable; lying down felt so therapeutic, and I fell asleep almost instantly. Hygiene: The hygiene was impeccable. Environment: The location is perfect, within walking distance of Daiwang Mansion, Drum Tower, and Huayan Temple. After watching the iron flower performance at night, it was just a short stroll back to bed. Service: The service was incredibly attentive and prompt. The butler recommended many delicious local eateries, and they were all indeed fantastic. The tea at the front desk was also delightful; I'd fill my thermos every time I went out – it was so comforting. They even offered a thoughtful bedtime gift, making the overall experience incredibly pleasant.

*The staff are nice to accomodate us. *The place is close to the scenic spot (few minutes by car). *The breakfast is not too bad. Few choices but it will fill you up.No drinks (juice or coffee). *The accomodation was nice to drop and pick us up at the scenic area.They dropped us off to the bus station going to Datong city. *Problem was the bad odour coming from the toilet. We think it’s from the drainage. We can’t even open the door for few minutes for air to come in because it is freezing. It’s negative degrees. *The room was nice and comfortable. I can’t find photos or video of the interior. The size of the room is perfect. It has a long bench.Table with 1 small chair.Tv, closet, slippers,toothbrush, hair dryer,kettle and 2 bottle of water. *Last picture was epic:)

This guesthouse boasts an excellent location in the East Street of Gulou (Drum Tower) in the ancient city. It's a tranquil oasis amidst the bustling downtown, with a rich historical background. It faces Guandi Temple directly, with Taiping Tower to its north, and a Fo Xiaoban specialty store just 10 meters to the east. Walking west leads you to Gulou (Drum Tower), and Huayan Temple is just 600 meters away. Along the way, you'll pass numerous popular restaurants like Zini 369, Longjuxiang, and Fenglingge. The ancient city's tourist shuttle bus station is also a convenient 20-minute walk away. The rooms have an antique charm and feature a wet/dry separation bathroom. The host provides warm and attentive butler service, even greeting guests at the door and helping with luggage. There's also a friendly cat in the courtyard you can pet. It's a pet-friendly establishment.

Our stay was perfection! We wouldn’t stay anywhere else! Perfectly located inside the old city of Datong, we walked everywhere and absolutely loved feeling in the center of it all! Beautiful room, super grand, clean, loads of space, very friendly owners, and 100% recommended with kids. The toilet was amazing, the shower water nicely hot, beds super comfy - we had a wonderful 2-night stay with our three children!

The hotel is located right by the roadside. It's a budget hotel, and the front desk staff were incredibly welcoming, leaving a lasting impression. Our stay was a pleasant surprise, far exceeding our expectations. From the moment we entered the lobby, the staff's friendly smiles and efficient, professional service impressed us. The rooms were elegantly designed, the bedding was very comfortable, and the bathroom featured a separate shower and toilet with ample water pressure – every detail reflected a commitment to quality. The hotel's meticulous service was particularly commendable: upon learning we were traveling by car, they proactively offered suggestions on nearby transportation. This provided a perfect way to relax after a long journey. The excellent location, comprehensive facilities, and personalized service complemented each other perfectly, making for a comfortable and pleasant stay. It wasn't just a place to rest during our trip, but also a part of a wonderful memory. This will definitely be our top choice for our next visit, and we will highly recommend it to our friends and family!

We booked three rooms n stayed for three nights consecutively at xiyun hotel . We will like to express our heartfelt gratitude towards three lovely front desk staffs namely Li Lu,Nanbei n Ms Wei. Very approachable and service oriented staffs They will go to extra mile to accommodate our requests n concern.they are an asset to the hotel industry. We will like to take this opportunity to wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

This hotel is really really beautiful - maybe even more than the photos show. Even though the style is traditional, everything inside the room is new, and there's even an elevator to take up bags. The location is amazing too, inside the old city wall, and I walked everywhere except the out of town attractions I visited. I think anywhere you stay in Datong you might have some communication challenges if you don't speak Chinese, but the owner here was very helpful once I put wechat on my phone to be able to talk with translation help, and he was able to arrange a last minute taxi out to the hanging temple after I had given up trying to get one. However, even though he was very helpful, he wasn't always around, and checking in was a bit difficult because there was nobody at the desk. I think this is only a problem if you don't speak Chinese though. Unfortunately, the wifi didn't always reach to my room on the 3rd floor well, and I could only get a trickle of hot water out of the shower. Overall though, I was super happy with this place and would recommend it!

The hotel is located just off the highway, with parking available right in front, making it perfect for self-driving travelers. The rooms are all on the second floor. The owner and hostess are very friendly. The rooms are clean and hygienic, with disposable towels and face towels provided. The rooms are modern and feature Xiao Ai smart technology. The rooms are primarily family rooms, and are suitable for guests with children.

Ajummah at the front desk is very accommodating. I arrived at 6:30am and they were able to provide me a room at 8am. Very close to the railway station. The downside is room smells tobacco. The common bathroom is extremely dirty and smells like urine. There were even poop left is there without flashing down. I had to go up to the 3rd floor and use the bathroom there instead of the one in our floor. No towels, toiletries, slippers, hair dryer. If you just need a day to rest that is near the railways station, you can book this, otherwise look for other hotels in the area.
