This property is nice, styled in the Baroque period. Staff are friendly (Eastern Euro friendly that is... not bad, just different from”Western” friendly), and have been helpful (Jem, Sarah, Maria.) The rooms are very clean and comfortable. I would not describe this property as an American luxury hotel, but it is certainly very nice. The toiletries and towels are skimpy, however sufficient. The breakfast buffet is certainly less in quantity than other hotels in Croatia offer in Rijeka, but the food is GOOD and fresh, there is cerals, scrambled eggs, yogurts, cheeses, breads, meats, juices and HOT coffee that tastes great. You won't be hungry with this buffet. The other reviews that complain are just whiners. The ONLY negative with this property is that the AC in each room (we had 2 rooms) are: noisy, barely cool and do smell musty. We opened the windows since it cools down nicely at night but there are no screens, so the mosquitos come in, so it is a catch 22: be warm or be bitten by bugs. Overall, I would stay here again.

We were visiting the Slovenian Coast for 5 Nights as a couple with a dog. We opted for a hotel in a more quiet location compared with portoroz - Izola etc.... What a great choice! Firstly, the hotel is beautiful renovated and looks like a new place. All is well and feels new - from the Restaurant, Lobby and the Rooms! (and awesome Salt chambers..) We chose a double room with balcony, which in those hot days were great for the early mornings or later evenings! (plus a big help in drying beach towels and clothes!) The room was nice, safe and mini bar fridge all available. Good shower - and for outdoor 38 degrees heat a perfectly working Air Con!! That's a real bonus! The Food (Breakfast was an enough wide selection) and the Dinner (mixed à la carte & sushi) must be stated was amazingly nice cooked, real top quality chef! if you like to dine out or eat in the evenings out just a 10-minute walk is the Ancaran Townsquare with a handful of nice Bars, Italian, Local Speciality Restaurant and so on. ＞All one needs! But the best ist still straight down from the hotel, the small bar on the beach! - So! - most over all I like to mention the feeling being a few days away from home in this place made us really relaxed and the best of the hotel is the people who work there!! - from the welcome reception team to the bar & restaurant staff and the housekeepers - all were at every time friendly and engaged! Overall, the Owner or Manager of this Hotel should be happy to have exactly this team working there now! They are awesome people with a good sense of hospitality! I would try to keep them! From the hotel you can walk in 3-5 minutes to a nice calm, quiet beach with another nice Restaurant and Bar (directly overlooking the Bay of Ancaran, Koper and so on) which was a lovely scenery!). The water was crystal clean and perfect temperature, and each time coming back to the hotel felt simply nice. Having travelled over 100s of times and stayed in 2-5 star hotels all over - this is definitely a place to go back. You just have to know what you are looking for and what kind of entertainment one wants. If you choose wisely, and you look for a bit more quiet place and not overloaded with people - and good drinks, food etc... than this is your destination! Thank you Team Ortus for the great stay. This was our first sea side vacation in Slovenia. The hotel is part of Life Class Hotels network which includes several more expensive and several less expensive hotels. Guests of all of them share the SPA facilities. I rated this hotel stay as “Very Good” mainly for its value for money. Otherwise, it is average. Hotel: this is a 4 star hotel and, apart from the food, old towels and having to pay for old bath robes, it is probably the 4 star hotel. The room is spacious and comfortable, very clean, large balcony with a table and chairs. The hotel and surroundings are quiet, even though it is kind of in the middle of a resort town. Mattresses are on a softer side and pillows are not that comfortable but all in all ok. TV has several programs in English including CNN, BBC, National Geographic, cartoons etc. Towels and bath robes are very old and really need to be replaced at this stage. Plus you have to pay for bath robes (!) euro 6 per one bath robe. It’s handy to have one because you can go to the SPA dressed in it. SPA: is very good. There are several swimming pools, one of them is with thermal mineral water which we liked. Another one is with sea water and has one part outside. The pools are clean and pleasant. Can get very busy when the weather is not great but it was manageable. There are plenty of massage and other SPA options. I didn’t use any but they looked very nice and not too expensive. Kids club: there is one on the prémisses. It is run on the Medusa beach in good weather or inside of the Apollo hotel in not so good weather. Animators seemed nice but not too engaged. Also, they never asked for my room number or my phone number so I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the kids there without me being nearby for longer than 10 min. When the kids club is run on the beach, the beach is right next to the road. So it really is not an option to be used for child care and going off to the SPA. Kids enjoyed playing there though so I do recommend it. Beach: the hotel guests can use Medusa beach which is opposite the hotel (you need to cross the road to get there). Hotel guests pay Euro 18 for two loungers and one umbrella. It is expensive if you do this every day. The beach is nice and clean but it is rather busy and not that big. Sun loungers are on the grass, there is no sand there. You need to use the metal step ladder to get into water. There are small stones on the bottom in the water so worth getting beach / water shoes (Euro 15 in shops nearby). Otherwise, can be unpleasant, especially for kids. The water is probably around 1 meter deep when you get in so young kids won’t be able yo puddle in. Water seems clean but there are lots of boats nearby so you can see a bit of diesel in the water. There are showers on the beach and a nice cafe for lunch and drinks. Food: breakfast is limited but ok. The young lady Sara who is making omelettes is very nice and welcoming. Scrambled eggs however are really bad as if they were made

i can recommend the hotel, it has a very good location, near the beach and offers great value (you get what you pay for). the staff is generally very friendly, special thanks to the gentleman looking after the pool/wellness area, and also Milena from the reception. yes, there was a few problems during my check-in, but she always remained friendly and maintained a smile , and they offered 1 night stay for my dog for free as a compensation at the end of my stay, which I thought was a nice gesture. thanks for that.

We had a great time in this beautiful ocean front hotel, during our one day trip to Portoroz, Slovenia. The rooms are clean, spacious with a nice size closet, well stocked mini fridge, and a balcony to enjoy the amazing ocean view. The bathrooms are clean, have a good size, and have all the essential toiletries. The breakfast is amazing...so delicious and with so many choices. Service was very good. Everyone polite and helpful. They also told us that we could spot dolphins swimming early morning. And we did...we woke up at 8 o'clock the next morning, and we were able to see them swimming from our balcony. Amazing... This hotel also offers swimming pool, sauna, spa...but unfortunately we did not have time to enjoy them, so I cannot really say anything about it. The area around the hotel is very nice to go around too. We enjoyed very much a walk by the sunset. So beautiful... Also, close to the hotel we found a delicious, cozy restaurant called POLPO. Amazing food and service. (It is a must try). This hotel may be a little outdated and in need of some improvement here and there, but it is still a nice and pleasant place to stay.

This is not a 5-star hotel. They have the potential to be 5 stars, since the facilities are fabulous. Our room was very nice looking with a great view to the hills and to the sea. The “park view” is an understatement, it was a beautiful hillside view. Also the large outdoor pool is fantastic and the breakfast terrace also offers fabulous views to the garden and to the sea. But all this goes to waste, because the staff doesn’t care to make an effort. The breakfast food was leathery and there were no sweets or pastries to have with your coffee. This was a first time with such a poor selection and quality in a 5 star hotel. There is no concierge service, you have to carry your own bags to the room, in a 5 star hotel. The staff was ignorant and rude; they kept asking constantly if we are guests of this hotel. As if we were not good enough to be guests of this hotel so they had to keep snobbishly asking about it all the time. There is no room service in this hotel whatsoever. When we wanted our clothes washed, we call the reception to have somebody pick it up from our room and it will be returned the next day before 18.00 like they promise in the room’s laundry info leaflet. When we called, the receptionist responded by saying it is already late (19.00), so could we bring the laundry to the reception by ourselves. Then the next day, when by 21.00, the laundry bag still had not been returned to our room, we went to the reception to ask about it. It tuns out the bag is there forgotten. The receptionist told us we have to take it to the room by ourselves, as she cannot send anybody to bring it to us and she cannot leave the reception herself. We cannot believe this amount of self-service one has to endure in a 5 star hotel. The reception staff didn’t bother to give us the towel card at the arrival or inform us that we need one when we go to the large outdoor pool. So when we went to the pool, the poolboy informed us that we need the towel card and should walk all the way back up to the huge hill to the hotel reception to get it. It’s ridiculous that they make customers run around like this. The pools are only open till 19.00, which is really odd in a 5 star hotel. There is no reason why they can’t be open till 21 or 22 like in many other hotels, many guests would love to swim and relax in the evening when it’s not so hot anymore. Then the pool staff started shutting down the outdoor pool umbrellas and chairs already at 18.00, even though guests were still using those. The jacuzzi was turned off already at 18.00, even though it was supposed to be open till 19.00. And the employee at the pool refused to turn it back on and claimed they were all in “maintenance”, even though they had water in them. So clearly there was maintenance, just ignorance towards his job. We have paid for the jacuzzi and we want to use it during our stay. You shouldn’t do “maintenance” on all the 3 jacuzzis you have at the same time, so the guests can enjoy at least o

We are the first floor sea view room You can see the seaside by opening the window. The front desk is very nice Parking lot outside the old town Can drive to the hotel, drop the luggage Holding the front desk will give you a card Drive the car to the parking lot outside the city🅿️ Take the free shuttle bus back to the hotel It is cheaper to pay parking fees at the hotel. So at the time of check-out, pay the parking fee at the hotel. They will provide a white release card~

We spent 5 nights in this hotel. Excellent location, very lovely place. Really near the sea. All hotel renovated, clean, very good pools, peacefool seaside. Gratis shuttle bus to Piran. Many various foods. Parking a little bit far from the reception. We got harbor view room instead of seaside room, but when I said they quickly changed it. The staff can speak english, germany, italian also. Beach is also near but we didnt use it. We used inside pools and the seaside front of sunterace. The arrengment of foods is perfect dont need to wait one line. Coming from Hungary better than croatia because no gate and no passport checking. It was our excellent summer holiday.

Must say I was sceptical having holidays in Slovenia, as I live in Slovenia, so ... But let me tell you! This is something else. Beautiful beach, comfy cabanas, clear water, so pleasant. The enviroment is full of positve energy, staff super nice, food great, magical corners and designs all over. The bay is quited and super, super relaxed. I can not believe this is 60 minutes drive from my home. So lucky! Highly recommened! Thank you, Barbara!

We are guests of this hotel for many years now. Every year we come back which stands as proof of our satisfaction. Greatest compliments are for polite and amazing staff, starting with reception and housekeepers, staff that takes car of guests cars all up to people working in restaurant. Everyone is so professional and ready to help. Food is good, delicious and fresh with lots of choice. However, desserts could be better, to be honest. Fruit selection is great. We were disappointed to see that beautiful white table cloths are taken down from the restaurants and that tables are left empty. Now, former high-end restaurant seems like an express restaurant and that's just sad. Hopefully, hotel will bring back table cloths, at least for dinner. That's one small detail that matters so much to guests. We always reserve executive double room with sea view, which are recently renovated. They are nice, comfortable beds and great view. This time it was a bit cold in the room because heating wasn't strong enough, which wasn't case so far. It was cold in the lobby as well. In the lobby there's a pianist who entertains guests, but we couldn't enjoy the performance due to being cold. Location is amazing - in the city center. Me and my company seriously hope that hotel will take care of these little flaws that weren't there previous years. The hotel is connected with Portoroz Thermal Spa (Terme Portoroz) which disappointed us a lot after so many years. But, more about that in Portoroz Thermal Spa dedicated review.
