Grainger Museum Review

I have always loved the music of Australian-born Percy Granger (Percy Grainger), and I often play in bands, so visiting the museum he built at the University of Melbourne is my top priority when visiting Australia. Before I left, I subscribed to the museum newsletter (free) and spoke to a senior staff member. One part of the museum focused on Grainger and the other was dedicated to temporary exhibitions, in which case Grainger's singer and colleague Nellie Melba was selected. Over two hours at the museum, I learned both musicians and many people. The exhibition includes musical instruments, original manuscripts, recording equipment, samples of Grainger paintings, beadworks and costume designs, awards and other souvenirs. There are headphones so people can hear some of his music, there are CDs and other merchandise on sale.

The Granger Museum of the University of Melbourne is a hidden gem. I stumbled upon it while on a hike to the University of Melbourne. Percy Granger (Percy Grainger) is a true Australian geek, a genius for music creation and playing. Later in life, he proposed the museum to the University of Melbourne and supervised it, offering a range of souvenirs from his own collection. It's well worth a visit.
