Ordos City Library has been recognized more than 30 times, in 1994 was named the National Civilization Library by the Ministry of Culture, in 1998 was rated as the National Second-level Library, and in 2000 the National Knowledge Engineering Group awarded the title of "Readers' Favorite Library". The new library of Ordos City was built in 2006 and officially put into use in 2009. The new library covers an area of 21,200 square meters, with a total construction area of 41,670 square meters, one basement floor and eight floors above ground, and a total height of 39.2m. Set up five functional areas, namely general document resources service area, electronic resource service area, characteristic document resources service area, film and television music report resource service area, reader leisure consumption service area. The general literature resource service area includes five service departments, namely, the Chinese book lending area, the children's literature lending area, the Chinese newspaper reading area, the Chinese periodical lending area, the tool book reading area; The electronic resource service area includes three service departments, namely multimedia reading area, shared engineering resource collection service area, computer center; The characteristic literature resource service area includes 4 service departments, namely expert literature research area, Mongolian literature borrowing area, local literature collection service area, Ordos history and culture celebrity manuscript museum; The Music Reporting Resource Area includes 2 service rooms, namely the Film and Television Archives and the Multi-function Reporting Hall; The Reader Leisure Service Area includes 6 service functions, namely, the Reader Fitness Center, the Reader's Chinese and Western Food and Beverage Area, the Reader's Printing Center, the Children's Recreation Area, the Music Coffee Book Bar, and the Xinhua Bookstore Book City. A total of 15 functional service areas. With the introduction of the new museum, 45 college students in library management specialty entrusted by the Ordos Municipal Bureau of Personnel and Culture to Inner Mongolia University for targeted training, all of them graduated smoothly and went to work. They will bear the heavy responsibility of "intelligent and digital" library construction, and make contributions to the realization of Ordos cultural city and promoting social development and progress.
