Before coming to Quzhou, I only knew that I had been to the Confucian Temple in Qufu, Shandong Province. Never thought that there was such a famous Confucian temple in Quzhou. The Confucian family temple in Quzhou, known as the Southern Zong (the Northern Zong in Qufu, Shandong Province), has a history of more than 700 years. One of the two remaining Confucian temples in the country is known as the Nanzong. Quzhou was also called the "Second Holy Land" by Confucius. The huge stone statue of Confucius on the square opposite the temple is exaggerated in proportion. Its huge statue and narrow head make people feel like a thousand-year-old turtle standing up.
