Located at the west end of the Golden Lane. Since 1584, the last prisoner left the White Tower in 1743 as a prison for the nobles. Most of the people imprisoned here are debtors and thugs. Although the White Tower is not open to the public, it has a funny and scary legend. On February 24, 1534, the bloodiest woman in Czech history, Karlstejn's wife, was imprisoned in the dungeon at the bottom of the White Tower. She was sentenced to death for killing 14 people, mostly young girls. Many of her cruel acts were confirmed, such as cutting the victim's skin with a knife and then sprinkling salt in the wound. She later died in the White Tower because of hunger and cold.
