The Lushan Scenic Area is centered around Guling Street. It's a boulevard straight out of heaven, rising nearly 1,100 meters above sea level. Guling Street has a canyon on one side and mountains on three sides. Dayue Mountain lies to the east, Dalin Mountain to the west, Guniu Ridge to the south, and Jiandao Gorge Gap to the north. It has the appearance of a half-street due to its minor east-west curvature. You can see the Yangtze River and the historic city of Jiujiang from where you are standing in the park. It is frequently the first destination for visitors to Lushan and is a great spot for leisure, amusement, and enjoyment.

Guling Street Lushan Guling Street, as the core area of Lushan Scenic Area, integrates natural scenery, historical culture and modern tourism services. The comprehensive experience can be carried out from the four aspects of "eating, drinking and having fun". There are both highlights and shortcomings that need attention:---### **Highlights of comprehensive experience** 1. **Unique atmosphere where nature and humanity blend together** Guling Street is about 1,100 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountains on three sides and a canyon on one side, forming a "street in heaven" landscape. At night, you can overlook the thousands of lights in Jiujiang City, with the stars and lights blending together, which is very poetic. The block preserves a large number of historical buildings (such as Meilu Villa and Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall), integrating Chinese and Western cultures, and is an important window for experiencing the history of Lushan and the footprints of celebrities. 2. **Rich nighttime cultural and tourism industries** Guling Street is one of the first nighttime cultural and tourism consumption clusters in Jiangxi Province, with mature nighttime sightseeing, cultural and creative experience, catering and leisure industries. The night tour around Ruqin Lake and Lulin Lake, the night performances and reading space in the central park, and the specialty restaurants and cafes are suitable for the needs of different tourists. 3. **Convenient tourism supporting services** The block is fully functional, with concentrated facilities such as post office, bank, sightseeing bus station, hotel, etc., a variety of food and accommodation options (such as Lushan Building, Yunzhong Hotel, etc.), and the advantage of free opening, making it a suitable starting point for visiting Lushan. 4. **Special food and cultural experience** Lushan snacks (such as stone chicken, stone ear, and cloud tea) are concentrated here. Recommended restaurants include "847 Villa Restaurant" (score 4.8 points) and "Lushan Deyilu Restaurant", where you can experience local and traditional dishes. Cultural and creative stores and handicraft shops offer Lushan specialty souvenirs, such as Yunwu tea, bamboo handicrafts, etc. ---### **Disadvantages that need attention** 1. **High traffic in peak season, discounted experience** Guling Street receives more than 3 million tourists annually. During the peak season (April to October), there may be problems such as congestion, long waiting time (sightseeing buses require queuing for more than 1 hour), and rising accommodation prices. 2. **Some facilities are limited** The conditions of hotels on the mountain are slightly inferior to those at the foot of the mountain (e.g. hot water is available at limited hours and there is a noticeable sense of humidity). Hotels converted from old villas may have poor sound insulation. Some attractions require separate ticket purchases (such as Meilu Villa and Sandiequan), so you need to plan your budget in advance. 3. **Food prices are high and choices are limited** Due to geographical restrictions, food prices are generally higher than those at the foot of the mountain, and the food is mainly Jiangxi cuisine, which tends to be spicy and salty, and is not very friendly to those who eat light meals. 4. **Weather and traffic restrictions** Lushan is often cloudy and foggy, and the temperature is 7-10℃ lower than Jiujiang, so you need to bring a coat; the roads are slippery during the rainy season, so you need to be careful when walking on some trails. During the peak season, tourist buses are prohibited from driving at night (22:00-6:00), which may affect your itinerary. ---### **Travel Tips** - **Best Time**: Spring and autumn (April-May, September-October) for summer heat relief and scenic views, and winter for snowy views but be careful not to slip.
Ruqin Lake is large but graceful. The lake's name comes from the curved shoreline and violin-like surface, as well as the two words "Ruqin" that the ancient inhabitants engraved on the rocks near the lake. Huajing Lake is another name for the half of the lake that is near Huajing Garden. The island in the center of the lake is reached by a curved bridge. The roads are meandering, the garden is teeming with blooming flowers, and the lake reflects the especially lovely shoreline view.

I stayed one night by Ruqin Lake in Lushan and took a walk by the lake in the morning. The scenery is good on sunny days. There is more fog in the early morning, but the photos will have a more hazy beauty. The West Lake Hotel where we stayed had a great location, but the rooms were old and the breakfast was average. So we walked five minutes to the nearby Huajingtang Hotel for a buffet breakfast, which cost 35 yuan per person. It was a very good breakfast, with pheasant eggs and fragrant corn. My family was very satisfied.
The Ice Table Boulder, also called the Flying Stone, is a glacier remnant that can be seen when you walk down Dalin Road to Huajing. The poem "Peach Blossoms at Dalin Temple" by Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi is claimed to have been written on the flower trail. Bai Juyi visited Mount Lushan after being reduced to the position of Sima of Jiangzhou (Jiujiang). At the time, it was late spring. Bai Juyi penned a poem because he was struck by the fact that the peach blossoms here were still in full bloom while those at the base of the mountain had fallen. It was also known as the "Bai Sima Flower Path" and the Jingbai Pavilion was constructed.

This is the former residence of Bai Juyi, and the famous line "April is the season when all the flowers on earth fade away, while the peach blossoms in the mountain temple begin to bloom" was written here. The scenic area has both cultural and natural landscapes. It is close to dangerous peaks and immortal caves, so you can enjoy them together. You may encounter monkeys, but don't feed them.
The Lushan Scenic Area is home to Jinxiu Valley. From the stone steps on the left side of the sky bridge to the Fairy Cave, the valley is stunning. It is created when Tianchi Mountain and Dalin Peak meet. A terrain with steep walls and a flat bottom was created by the Quaternary glaciers' repetitive cutting. Jinxiu Valley is home to a large number of odd rocks in a variety of shapes. Some resemble frogs leaping out of the water, others resemble two battling lions, some resemble wild horses galloping, some resemble soaring eagles, and some even resemble Guanyin getting dressed on stage. You must, of course, utilize your imagination in order to appreciate these unusual rocks.

It is located on Mount Lushan, not far from Guling Town and close to Huajing Fairy Cave. The scenery is unique, beautiful and the landform is complex. It is a great place to visit rivers and mountains. Please note that there are many stairs in the scenic area and there is no ropeway. Please consider your physical condition and pay attention to the cordon when visiting.
One of Lushan Mountain's most well-known picturesque locations is Xianren Cave, which is situated beneath Buddha's Hand Rock at the southern tip of Jinxiu Valley. "One Drop Spring" is a clear spring located deep within the Immortal Cave. This spring water is supposed to have been trickling continuously for about a millennium. The "Chun Yang Hall" in the middle of the cave has a stone statue of Lu Dongbin. According to legend, the Sword Immortal, one of the Eight Immortals, became immortal here by engaging in Taoist practices. A little fairy air is added whenever the clouds and mist are floating.

There is a fairy cave naturally created, and infinite scenery is on the dangerous peak. From the Republic of China to the present day, countless celebrities have taken photos and checked in here. The famous poems of the great Chairman Mao are catchy. It is a must-see when you come to Lushan.
The Changchong River flows back and forth in the East Valley of Guling, which is located above Lushan Mountain. A British-style mansion is tucked away in the shelter of the foliage on the Changchong River. Named "Meilu" by Chiang Kai-shek himself, it was once the home of Soong Mei-ling and Chiang Kai-shek in Lushan. Meilu is a distinctive cultural setting on Lushan Mountain that illustrates a facet of China's turbulent contemporary past.

Meilu is a famous cultural landscape unique to Lushan Mountain. It is located in Lushan Scenic Area, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. It shows one aspect of the ever-changing modern history of China. "Meilu" was once the summer residence of Chiang Kai-shek and the "Chairman's Headquarters". It was the "beautiful house" where the then "First Lady" Soong Mei-ling lived. The historical trajectory of Meilu's evolution is closely linked to the vicissitudes of the century. It was once a "forbidden garden" and was wrapped in floating clouds day and night, which was fascinating and confusing. Today, "Meilu" has revealed its true face, attracting numerous tourists from home and abroad with its unique style and charm.
One of Lushan's most well-known locations for sunrise viewing is Hanpokou. With a panoramic perspective, ascend to the Hanpo Pavilion and enjoy the scenery. Particularly amazing are the sunrise and the sea of clouds. The "Wangpo Pavilion" is a square pavilion atop Hanpo Ridge that is a well-liked spot to see the sunrise. In the dawn light, ascend to Wangpo Pavilion and gaze at the drab sky. Eventually, the sun rose gently from the lake, turning the green water, blue sky, far-off mountains, and neighboring ridges red. It was a very amazing scene.

📍Address: Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. 🛣️Route: Haohanpo - Guling Town - Lulin Lake - Hanpokou (- Wulao Peak - Sandiequan). 🚪Tickets: 190 yuan per person, student tickets are half price, only 80 yuan. After we arrived at Hanpokou at 4:30 in the afternoon, we did not continue to Wulao Peak and Sandiequan, but chose to return along the same route. Afterwards, we took a bus to Xiaotianchi and went down the mountain from the north gate. This was a small regret in this trip. Tips: ⚠️If you want to see Lushan Waterfall, you can go to Xiufeng Scenic Area. However, if you want to witness the spectacular sight of "the Milky Way falling from the sky", it depends on the season and weather conditions! ⚠️Lushan Scenic Area covers a vast area and has many scenic spots. It is strongly recommended to buy a sightseeing bus ticket, which costs 90 yuan per person and can be used multiple times within seven days. Taking a sightseeing bus to visit various attractions is convenient and saves a lot of distance, which will greatly improve your travel efficiency! ⚠️If you are staying outside the Lushan Scenic Area and are leaving the scenic area at night, please be careful. After entering, you will find out how far it is to walk from the inside to the entrance of the scenic area. We didn't reach the gate until dark that day. Finally, we took a bus to Xiaotianchi, and then queued up at Xiaotianchi to get on the bus to the north gate. ⚠️If you plan to spend a few days visiting Lushan, it is recommended to stay directly in the Lushan Scenic Area, where there are many accommodation options. ⚠️If you plan to take a sightseeing bus to Wulao Peak and Sandiequan, it is recommended to set off as early as possible, because the sightseeing bus will no longer go there around four or five in the afternoon.
Lulin Lake is located in the Lulin Basin in Donggu, Lushan District, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, so it is also called East Lake. Lulin Lake is surrounded by mountains and the water is calm. Comrade Mao Zedong swam in the lake many times. From Huanglong Temple, walk up the winding stone steps for about 20 minutes to reach Lulin Bridge. Along the way, there are dense forests and tall trees, which makes tourists feel cool during the summer.

Lulin Lake was once an ice cellar for storing ice during the Ice Age. There was originally an ice bank below the lake, and a hanging valley below it. Before the ice bank was destroyed 1700 years ago, this was a natural lake with reed forests, hence the name Lulin Lake. Today, Lulin Lake is the main drinking water lake for residents of Lushan. I have to say that Lulin Lake is as sweet and quiet as a virgin in clear weather, and the reflection on the water surface is particularly beautiful.
Sandiequan is actually a waterfall rather than a spring. The landscape changes with the seasons. You can see the waterfall tumbling down, and the water flow is usually higher in late spring and early summer. Sandiequan is a terrific time to appreciate it. You must travel down to the valley to witness Sandiequan if you wish to have a close-up look at its stunning impact. You can see the magnificent waterfall tumbling down when you stand on the rock at the foot of the valley and look up.

After taking the cable car back and forth, you still need to walk for a long time after getting off to see the waterfall. But the scenery from the cable car is still very good. After getting off the cable car, you reach the steps to the waterfall, which have a total of 2,600 steps up and down.
Southeast of Wulao Peak is Bailudong Academy, one of China's most important cultural relic preservation sites. The governor of Jiangzhou, Li Bo, lived here in solitude during the Tang Dynasty's Zhengyuan period in order to study and rear a white deer for his own entertainment. Mr. White Deer was his name. All of Bai Lu Dong Academy's structures face south and are composed of brick and wood or stone and wood. All of the roofs have gabled roofs, which lends them a feeling of simplicity and elegance. One of China's four main academies is Bai Lu Dong Academy. During the Song Dynasty, Zhu Xi, a Neo-Confucian philosopher, restored the academy and delivered lectures there.

A more suitable place to bring children. The scenic area is not big, and one hour is enough to visit it. Come here if you don't want to climb the mountain. Walk around, stop and learn about the history and culture. It is a perfect choice for a family vacation. I didn't see the waterfall or climb the mountain during the dry season. I will come back in a different season next time.
