Of course, Miyajima, not far from Hiroshima, should definitely be visited. There are world heritage sites, the Itsukushima Shrine, cute sika deer, and the natural and pristine Mt. Misen. After climbing to the top of the mountain, you can also overlook the beautiful scenery of the inland sea of Seto.

Atomic Bomb Dome, also called Hiroshima Peace Memorial, is located in the center of the explosion of the atomic bomb dropped by the US Military on Hiroshima in 1945. At that time, almost all the nearby houses were razed to the ground, and only this dome remained standing. Today, the architectural site is preserved as a memorial of this event and listed in the world cultural heritage list.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is next to Atomic Bomb Dome. In addition to many statues and monuments, there is also the monument to those killed by the explosion of the atomic bomb, and the Peace Memorial Information Center, displaying the clothes, glasses, hair and other items left over from the original explosion. Every year, on August 6, there is a peace memorial ceremony, and a river light event on the Motoyasu River, where lanterns of various colors with eulogies and prayers are released into the river.

Shukkei-En Garden, once a vassal of Hiroshima, has a typical architectural style from the Edo Era, and is a touring garden. The garden is named shrinkable garden because it concentrates the scenery of mountains and rivers and the charming places of Kyoto.

Hiroshima City is sometimes likened to a black carp, so it is also known as "carp city". It began to be built by the famous General Mouri Terumoto in 1589, and construction was completed in 10 years. It was completely destroyed in the atomic bomb explosion in 1945, and then rebuilt as it currently is in 1958. You can climb to Osaka Castle and have a panoramic view of the surrounding city. You can also take a boat along the moat. The wooden structure of the outer wall of Hiroshima City has been restored well, adding a bit of simplicity and vigor to the castle.

Must-Do Activities

Located in the Central Park of Hiroshima and funded by the Bank of Hiroshima in 1978, Hiroshima Art Museum mainly contains Impressionist paintings of modern French art, including Van Gogh, Cezanne, Gauguin, Monet, Matisse and many other masterpieces, as well as local Japanese oil paintings and modern art works. Coming here to learn some art will surely make your trip worth it.

If you want to go to scenic spots in downtown Hiroshima, you can just take the Hiroshima Electric Railway. Hiroshima Electric Railway operates ordinary streetcars in the streets of Hiroshima City. The streetcar is very retro, and has a tinkling sound when driving, and a strong sense of antiquity in the car. If you have time, you may as well take the streetcar to around Hiroshima City and experience the lives of the local people. The Miyajima-guchi Line of the Hiroshima Electric Railway can take you to the nearby tourist resort - Miyajima. You can get off the streetcar and take a ferry to get on the island.

Must-Do Activities

Mitaki Temple is located in the Mitaki Valley in the northwest of Hiroshima City. It is a beautiful place covered with trees. There is also a red two-story pagoda which is an important cultural property of Hiroshima County. Inside the pagoda, there is an important national cultural property (equivalent to the level of China's national cultural relics protection institute) - a wooden Amitabha statue. In spring, Mitaki Temple becomes a cherry blossom resort. In autumn, it is famous for its red leaves.

Must-Do Activities

Miyajima is also called Itsukushima. It has world cultural heritage sites, the Itsukushima Shrine, Mount Misen with its original ecological appearance, and many historic shrines, Buddhist pavilions and other historic sites on the island. It is a sacred island worshiped by lots of people. Itsukushima Shrine built near the sea and its vermilion Otorii, which literally stands in the sea, are the most famous scenic spots on the island. When the sea is at high tide, Otorii, becomes half submerged by the sea and looks very mysterious and spectacular. When the tide is low, you can go directly to the base of the Otorii and look at it up close.
