The Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium

The Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium (NMMBA) is regarded as Taiwan's most important aquarium, and one of the best of its kind in Asia. Located in Pingtung County, in the southern region of Taiwan, the NMMBA houses three public exhibitions, as well as a marine research facility. The Waters of Taiwan exhibit showcases Taiwan's different aquatic habitats and its dwellers, including the so-called treasure of Taiwan, a rare freshwater salmon called yamame.

The fastest way to get to this aquarium is to take the High-Speed Rail Line from the Taipei station to Zuoying station. From Zuoying, you can then transfer to the bus bound for the NMMBA Transfer Station. You can also book cheap flights from Taipei to Kaohsiung, where you can then take a bus to Checheng. From Checheng, you can then take the bus that goes to the NMMBA Transfer Station.

Xpark

Recently opened in 2020, Xpark is one of the newest and most imaginative aquariums not just in Taiwan but in the world! This Taoyuan attraction promises to give its guests an extraordinary multisensory experience that blurs the lines between the natural and the magical, harnessing the power of technology and out-of-this-world performances. And the 360-degree immersive atmosphere is just the beginning of it.

One of the highlights of this Taiwan aquarium is a 'performance' by a school of Monodactylidae, a species of warm-water fish that grow no larger than 30 cm in length.
