The Nuuanu Pali Lookout is not only one of the most scenic easily accessible lookouts within Oahu's rugged interior, it's also the site of one of the most important events in Hawaiian history. In 1795, King Kamehameha the first set sail from the Big Island of Hawaii, conquering Maui and Kaui as he made his way towards Oahu. There he clashed with the forces of Kalanikūpule, driving the warriors of Oahu back into the valley, eventually to the Pali Lookout. It was here that hundreds of Kalanikūpule's soldiers were pushed from the sheer cliffs of the lookout to their deaths. Today, hundreds of tourists visit this scenic and windy location, making it one of the more popular attractions in Oahu.
