We had a great experience at Thaiwoo Ski Resort! The resort is very well organized, with a wide variety of slopes for different levels. The pistes are well prepared, and the area is beautiful, especially in winter.Everything is convenient and easy to navigate—lifts work smoothly, and the overall atmosphere is fun and lively. There are plenty of places to rest, eat, and warm up between runs. It’s a great place for both beginners and more experienced skiers and snowboarders. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend Thaiwoo Ski Resort to anyone coming to Chongli for winter sports.

This was the best part of the trip... We're giving it to you! Love it so much, completely smitten. First time ever experiencing -14 degree Celsius temperature. First time ever seeing snow, even if it was real or artificial, it didn't matter. Everything was convenient, and the view was amazing.

The Slopes: Even the "Beginner" slopes are steep and very icy. The ground is hard as a rock, making falls very painful. True beginners might prefer smaller slopes closer to Beijing.Equipment: The beginner pass includes basic gear (skis/board, boots, helmet). Keep your IC Card safe for rentals and the magic carpet. The summit cable car is an extra 100 RMB.Staff: Mostly unsmiling and no English. Use a translation app.The "Coach" Scam: Be wary of pushy freelance instructors on the slopes. A middle-aged woman persistently harassed us and even tripped my boyfriend to make skiing look "too hard" without her help.Safe Option: If you want a lesson, only book through the Official Ski Academy counter next to the ticket office.

This ski resort is lively! There's music and songs, and ski enthusiasts gather here. There's a restaurant area where you can relax. There's actually a kids' area too, but we didn't try it. This was my first time skiing here. There are coaches on the slope, so if you don't know how to ski, you can negotiate a price with them – it's not expensive. Booking through Trip.com is cheaper, but since we went at the end of the year, prices might have gone up. I recommend booking through Trip.com. They actually have packages that include ski equipment, but we already rented some from outside, otherwise it would have been worth it! 🥰❄️

My friend and I chose the Fulong Holiday Hotel and stayed in a Star Sleep twin room. It came with a balcony, a bathtub, and panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows – truly a dream setup for winter! **Cleanliness:** The room was spotless, the bedding was soft and clean, and the bathroom had a separate wet and dry area. Soaking in the tub was incredibly relaxing. Perfect attention to detail! **Environment:** The snow scenery outside the window was picturesque. The hotel's architecture has a lovely Nordic flair, making it an amazing spot for photos! **Service:** The front desk staff was warm and attentive, and both check-in and check-out were smooth. The breakfast was also very varied. My friend and I had an amazing time. Highly recommend it to anyone coming for skiing or a holiday! 📸 Attached are 3 real photos, unedited and filter-free – what you see is what you get!

This is the fourth year I have stayed at Zhangjiakou International Hotel. The hotel's facilities and services are excellent. This time I slept on the buckwheat pillow in the hotel room and I felt it was great. I even bought two to take home. During the stay, the staff decisively changed the room because of the noise problem on the floor. As long as the problem was raised, the staff would help solve it as soon as possible. It was great!

The shower was clogged (completely, the water didn't drain), so I tried to use the bath, and there the showerhead didn't work, so we couldn't do the most basic thing of taking a shower in our room. We didn't try to change rooms because we found out after midnight and were too tired to deal with complaining and packing and moving to a different room. However, this is not acceptable. I would expect this thing in a cheap hostel, not in a fancy hotel.

Came here to ski during the Chinese New Year holiday, and Genting is an old favorite of mine. I have to give it a 100-star rating this time! I happened to catch the two windiest days of the ski season, but Genting's gondola, though a bit slower, kept running as usual. Genting's ski resort has the shortest queues, and most of its slopes are south-facing with great visibility. I managed to hit all the advanced runs twice over the two days, starting the new year with full energy and passion. It was fantastic! The hotel was prompt with water delivery, the hotpot wasn't expensive, and the front desk even gave us a late check-out since we had a child with us. All in all, it's the best hotel in Chongli, absolutely loved it!

The room is spacious with a private balcony offering a view of the distant magic carpet area. The hotel also provides free ski lockers, making ski-in/ski-out very convenient. We enjoyed several days of skiing, and my child, who started from scratch, picked up the basics. A big thank you for allowing us a late check-out until 2 PM due to our last day's lesson schedule. The only downside was that the room was quite warm at night, so we had to open the window and turn off the air conditioning to cool it down.

Bad check in service at front counter lady. Seems more occupied with her task than guest service. I have to call and request for our sofa bed to be open. Given we book and indicated a family of 4, unlike other hotels whom immediately arrange all additional required items such as toothbrushs, slippers, towels, water, etc. Here I have to call to request for each items. The wifi doesn't work. I have to physically bring my laptop to the front desk for assistance.. and even that was not able to connect. Breakfast, average as the food are abit hard - hard noodles, hotdogs, breads.. Only cons is location near to ski and restaurants but so are a few hotels nearby. Free scheduled public bus shuttle to/fro train station, have to walk about 7 mins to the bus stop. As a Hyatt member, this is the worse Hyatt Place hotels I stayed. I believe surrounding hotels will have better guest services and competitive price too.

Five-star rating for the staff! Liu Qianqian helped me with a late checkout because I had to wait for my child to finish skiing at 4:30 PM, and that late checkout was a lifesaver. BUT, the room I booked dropped in price. Even though it no longer included the yoga experience, it wasn't the exact same package, but seriously, who needs a yoga experience? A lower price is always king! This is definitely the top value-for-money choice in Chongli.

Took a trip with the family for my birthday weekend and some family time. The hotel was amazing. Great staff and location was perfect for traveling around the area. They have underground parking and even have a PlayStation near the hotel elevators so you can pay or locate your car. Parking garage elevators are separate from the hotel room elevators. Close to shopping and eateries and the pool was great for doing some laps my son and husband have the pool to theirselves. There were two lifeguards on duty. We took a trip over to the Gate and ate at the restaurant on the second floor. Food was very delicious and the service was top notch. It was a great ending to a relaxing weekend. I would highly recommend staying here and would definitely go again.

We recently went to Zhangjiakou Thaiwoo Ski resort during the CNY. Location is ideal, 5 mins away from Taizicheng railway by car and inside the ski resort. They provide pick-up and drop off at the railway station making it very convenient. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was fine, not so many choices for foreigners like us. There are many restaurants nearby. The staff are friendly and tries their best to translate, communicate and attend to our needs. Before booking our room and train, I called the hotel to inquire and added 小晴 thru wechat. She was very helpful in answering my questions about the ski resort, and train booking. Definitely recommended.

This isn't my first time choosing Yunzhen Jinling Cuiyun Mountain Hotel, and each experience consistently exceeds my expectations. The hotel's service is incredibly thoughtful and comprehensive. Starting from when you get off the high-speed train, they offer a free shuttle service, with staff waiting right at the station exit. Check-in at the front desk is very efficient. Once you're in the room, the high-quality facilities, welcome fruit platter, smart devices, and the bathtub in every room instantly wash away any fatigue from skiing. You can feel the attentive care at every step. Speaking of the views, the hotel is nestled within the Cuiyun Mountain scenic area. Open the door, and the magnificent ski resort, shuttling cable cars, and snow-capped mountains are all right there. Waking up to a snowy landscape in the morning and watching the sunset glow over the snow-covered peaks in the evening feels like living inside a painting at every moment. Moreover, the biggest highlight of this hotel is the direct ski-in/ski-out access. No more lugging heavy equipment back and forth, which is an absolute game-changer for skiers! 👍 Oh, and the hotel's breakfast and restaurant quality are equally superb, though I regret forgetting to take pictures. The vegetables at the hotel's hot pot restaurant are incredibly fresh, and the meat 🥩 quality is excellent. It's truly impressive to find such high-quality ingredients at a hotel located up in the mountains. I'll definitely be back next time, looking forward to discovering even more surprises.

Coming to Chongli for skiing, I chose the Huanhuo Hotel for the first time. Even though I saw mostly positive reviews on the platform, I was still a bit nervous. Luckily, our guest manager, Ms. Qiqi, contacted us in advance, helped us arrange everything, and reserved a convenient room with a fantastic view. During our stay, Ms. Qiqi was always responsive to our questions and helped us solve any issues immediately. On our last night, she even surprised us with a little gift. I really need to talk about this. I'm a Marriott Gold member, but this was my first time in Chongli and my first time at Aranya Chongli. We initially stayed at Hotel A before moving to the Courtyard. The room is a standard five-star hotel room, spacious enough but without a bathtub. The package included access to the pool and hot springs, which was acceptable for now. The breakfast tasted okay, but the management was truly chaotic. Anyone could just swipe their card and enter. If there aren't enough seats, why don't they arrange dining slots by appointment? Why don't they let guests choose dining hall 1 to spread out the crowd? It was really hard for guests to find a table on their own. After finally finding one, a staff member told me to get food first and he'd help clear the table. But because it was so crowded, people were grabbing any table they saw. A lady mistook our table for being empty, and when I returned with food and stated we were there first, we had an unpleasant exchange of words. Later, I brought this up with the restaurant manager, asking why they didn't have small 'reserved' signs. She said they didn't have any??? A five-star restaurant that big doesn't have table reservation signs? I'm sure I'm not the only one who felt the breakfast was chaotic. Pool and Hot Springs: On the first day, two young ladies saw us in our casual clothes and only told us the hot springs were in the pool. It was only after entering the changing room that we realized we needed to get keys at the front desk. She didn't proactively offer them, which led to us running between the men's and women's changing rooms to get locker keys again. And then, oh my goodness, my husband got a cup of lemon water, and it was spoiled. To top it off, there wasn't a single cleaning lady in the changing room from the time I arrived until I left. The bathroom reeked of urine as soon as you stepped in. Who would want to shower there???? The slippers from the disinfection cabinet were wet??? I just want to know if they'd been worn or just washed? We complained about the spoiled lemon water, and the hotel management contacted us that evening to thank us for the feedback, promising to improve and offering us a tea roasting experience. The next day, before going to the hot springs, I did see a manager in a black suit at the front desk, and the young lady proactively gave out the key cards. Of course, I still want to commend the room cleaning staff; every one of them greeted us warmly. The front desk and bellboys were very polite and accommodating. Once, I didn't have my phone and needed to pick up a ski pass. A front desk lady, I think named Li Juan, quickly found my ski ticket number and even paid the 60 deposit for me to get the ticket. Many thanks to her. Of course, I made sure to return the card the next day. In summary, I hope this big brand can comprehensively improve its quality and service details.

Room and Hotel: Stayed during Chinese New Year, and while hotel prices throughout Chongli were sky-high, the service was on point. The hotel has its own dedicated parking, which was convenient. The room was a bit compact, but the bedding was comfortable, and the window insulation was excellent, leading to a great night's sleep. The hotel is located at a key intersection where the county road turns into Wanlong Road, with plenty of surrounding supermarkets, shops, and restaurants. Mont Fontaine Hotel is directly opposite, and it's only a 5-minute drive to Fulong Ski Resort. Service: The front desk staff were warm, attentive, and always willing to help. Tangyin Hot Springs: If you plan to visit the hot spring area (indoor and outdoor), you'll need to bring your own swimwear in advance. If you're just going for a shower or sauna, it's not an issue. Breakfast: The buffet truly lived up to its reputation – abundant, delicious, and authentic! The roasted sweet potatoes, Inner Mongolian milk tea, and lamb offal soup with noodles were all perfect 💯. They provided me with all the energy I needed for a day of skiing. The coffee machine and coffee could use some improvement, though.

The room was great, very spacious and well-equipped. My child slept on the sofa bed, and the staff even provided two duvets, one for underneath and one for on top, which was a nice touch. They also added an extra 4 bottles of water. The hotel benefits are pretty good too; we got discounts on ski passes and equipment, and after skiing, we could go to the hot springs, or even just relax in the bathtub in our room – very comfortable. The photo was taken near the hotel, and the scenery is beautiful. Plus, it's not far from the ski resort, which is very convenient.

This hotel in Thaiwoo Town is perfect for family ski trips. It has its own ski rental shop, allowing for ski-in/ski-out access, which is ideal for ski enthusiasts! The hotel also offers excellent dining options, hot springs, and the 'Thaiwoo Night' performances, which are incredibly diverse and entertaining. The service is exceptional, especially Richard at the front desk. He was so helpful and patient during check-in, explaining all the services and how to use them, and even sent detailed information via WeChat. He promptly resolved many of our issues through WeChat during our stay! I'll definitely be returning to Nanshanli Hotel and highly recommend it to everyone!

The room was nice and spacious, with a balcony and fantastic views. During the National Day holiday, there was heating, though not extremely warm, but I didn't feel cold while sleeping. The bedding was very new, and the service was good. There were two pool tables on the first floor. The hotel is very close to the Fulong Town scenic area, making it very convenient to visit the town the next day and get there before the crowds. The morning city walk through Fulong Four Seasons Town was a great experience. The only drawback was the lack of food delivery options near the hotel; however, it's easy to find restaurants in Chongli District in the evening by car.

I came to travel and spent a long time looking for a hotel with a high-end environment and a 2 o'clock check-out time. After careful selection, I chose the International Hotel Building B. Why do I highlight Building B? Because the cost performance is too high. The same service, the same breakfast, a little smaller than Building A, but completely sufficient. I mainly praise their breakfast. Cantonese breakfast is a feature. There is a separate Cantonese restaurant. The price is normal in the evening, and you can eat whatever you want in the morning. It's so happy. There is also a free bathing and swimming center. At this price, it is really touching to have these services! The service is also very good. You can directly scan the code to place an order in the middle of the night, and the robot will bring the drinks to you.

The hotel is large, there are many parking spaces, you can charge the car, the service is good, clean, you can order at the hotel, there is breakfast service. Although it was cold outside, the room was very warm. Fruits, yogurt and snacks were delivered, and earplugs were also delivered. In fact, the hotel was far from the downtown area and it was quiet. The breakfast is very rich, the bath water is very flush, the hot water bath is very comfortable, the accommodation includes 100 yuan for Jiming Mountain tickets, and the price is very high. It takes 10 minutes to drive to Jiming Mountain. If you want to climb Jiming Mountain, open the Arcadia Hotel to experience the quality service.

The room was surprisingly spacious and better than I had imagined. The facilities were good, though it would be even better if USB charging ports were available. It was spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the surrounding area was quiet. Their breakfast spread was very generous, but be sure to go early as it runs out fast! Overall, this place is quite good!

The service is super good, I have lived in many hotels, and there are too few services that can be done so well. How good is it? The lobby wipes the floor and is afraid of slipping, and they escort you away; the room water is afraid of not drinking enough, and the front desk hates to give you a few bottles. The service response is particularly fast, there is no need to wait at all, it is really the kind of favor of customers as God, these are all in our eyes. Really good

Chongli Ski Resort Family-Friendly Hotel Review: A Full Rundown of Pros and Cons Bringing the kids to Chongli for skiing, this hotel's location was a huge plus! The ski resort is right downstairs, so no extra travel is needed. You can drop off your kids with the instructor and leave with peace of mind. The instructors even kindly help with putting on ski boots, hats, and gloves, making the whole experience effortless and worry-free. The hotel staff are also professionally trained, always greeting you warmly and proactively, showing great attention to detail. However, two things slightly detracted from the experience: Firstly, breakfast cleanup starts a bit too early. I'd suggest extending it to 10:30 AM. After dropping off the kids at 9:30 AM and rushing to eat, there's only about ten minutes left. It's a dilemma, as you're afraid of not getting enough food and over-grabbing, yet you also worry about waste. Secondly, the gym facilities and experience were subpar and are in urgent need of upgrading. Additionally, the hotel currently doesn't offer in-room massage services. After the kids finish skiing, there's no suitable option for them to relax. Hotels I've stayed at in Nanshan offered this service, which made the experience much better. What truly deserves praise is the delightful surprise at the breakfast station. The chef making Jianbing (savory crepes) was exceptionally enthusiastic, and his craft was spot-on. The Jianbing were incredibly fragrant, and the Roujiamo (Chinese meat burger) also stood out with its excellent taste. The room layout is particularly well-suited for families. The two-bedroom setup is perfect for a family of four. The room also features a simple kitchenette. After a day of skiing, the kids can enjoy a comfortable hot bath, and then the family can cook a small hotpot together – it's cozy and delightful. Finally, a small detail: the mattress experience varies significantly between different floors. The mattresses on the second floor are a bit soft, while those on the sixth floor are much more comfortable. I'd recommend opting for a room on the sixth floor if possible.

The hotel room is spacious and clean, the breakfast is good, and it also has its own bathroom. I stayed for three days in total. On the last day, there was a problem with the heating pipes. The hotel was afraid that it would be cold at night, so they took the initiative to change the room to a new hotel nearby in the same group. It was very thoughtful.

The design and decoration of the room are very advanced, there are some careful thoughts that need to be carefully tasted, no smell, clean and comfortable. The courtyard outside is also very large, enough for two small cockroaches to run, and you can also look at the stars on the terrace at night. The bath has plenty of hot water and the atmosphere of the alcohol fireplace is full. The Tomahawk steak package is delicious! Two people eat more than enough!

The self-check-in was fully automated, and it was right next to the ski slope, though that didn't really matter. The room was super well-equipped with an induction cooktop, microwave, fridge, and various kitchen utensils. There was even an oven, but I couldn't figure out how to use it. The sofa bed wasn't very comfortable, but it was alright for a short stay. It's really convenient to stay here if you're skiing at Genting, but getting to Wanlong from here is quite a detour.

Overall, the hotel is quite good. The location is excellent, with ample free parking. Across from the Xuanhua Museum (the former site of the Chahar Democratic Government) and the Catholic Church, it's about 400 meters from the historic Chaoyang Tower. It's also not too far from Gongji Tower (South Gate), Zhenshuo Tower (Drum Tower), and Qingyuan Tower (Bell Tower). The front desk service was friendly and professional. The rooms are small, with no extra space for luggage. My biggest complaint was the breakfast. For a four-star hotel, the breakfast selection was limited, with no Western pastries, and milk served in thermoses (a first for me). Meals were served only at 9:00 PM.

The hostel is great for a weekend as a couple or a group of friends! Staff is very helpful, the location is great with shuttle buses frequently lifting to and from the village which is about 1km away and the hostel itself has a relaxing lounge area to relax at night. The only thing that I could say negative is that the people are smoking in the rooms and the smoke really escapes through the vents and into the rooms. My bathroom smelled like someone constantly smoking inside. Overall, a great experience and would definitely return!

FAQs about Thaiwoo Ski Resort

  • What is the best month for skiing?

The best time to ski depends on your goals: January–February offer the best snow and most consistent conditions, while March balances good snow, warmer weather, longer days, and fewer crowds. December is festive but less reliable for snow, and April–May are quieter with more variable conditions.
  • How many days are enough for skiing?

For most beginners, 3–4 days of skiing is enough to learn the basics, build confidence, and really enjoy the experience without feeling exhausted. It’s also a great way to see if skiing is for you. Choosing a midweek ski trip is often more affordable and less crowded, making it an excellent option for first-timers.
  • Is it expensive to ski in China?

Skiing in China can be costly. A day pass at Nanshan is about $40, while Chongli costs around $70 per day. Add transport ($7–20), food ($7–14), and accommodation (about $30), and even a weekend ski trip can quickly become expensive.
