Anna Pillar is the symbol of Innsbruck Hill City. She stands on the Cormaria & Tracia Avenue in the centre of Innsbru. This seemingly tranquil Anna Column records a historical dispute. In 1706, the privileged representatives of the Tirol State Council jointly financed the construction of the Anna Column in commemoration of the evacuation of the Bavarian army from Innsbruck in 1703. The pillar was built on July 26, which coincided with Anna's naming day, hence the name of the memorial pillar.
