Excellent stay! I was in town for Ayumi Hamasaki's concert, and the venue was right across the street, just one block away. The hotel is also conveniently located near Citizen's Plaza Station, which is why I chose it. The hotel itself is grand and impressive, with a spacious and comfortable lobby. I arrived in the morning before check-in, so I relaxed in the lobby. There's even a convenience store inside the hotel, making it easy to grab anything you need. The room was very spacious, and the window offered a great view. While it's an older hotel, what truly matters is the comfort and overall feeling for guests, not just having the newest gadgets or facilities.FromPKR 13,705

This hotel is grand and impressive, even feeling a bit like a shopping mall from the outside. Its location is fantastic, right next to Shin-Kobe Station, with direct access via subway exit B3. Plus, you can easily walk to the Nunobiki Falls, which offers a lovely, fresh atmosphere. It's perfect for a vacation. As for dining, the hotel has everything, from wagyu BBQ to Chinese cuisine. They also offer borrowing services and luggage storage. Overall, it's highly recommended!FromPKR 17,808

Overall, our stay was good, especially the location. The room is a bit old but still well maintained.
However, we were not happy with one aspect of the service. A staff member (possibly a manager or senior from the F&B team) was not very professional and came across as quite rude.
He physically blocked us from entering the breakfast area without listening to our explanation. We clearly mentioned that our friend was already inside and had a table, and we were just trying to confirm the table number. However, he insisted we go to Level 1 for breakfast and did not allow us to explain further.
We had to go back and forth between the lift, trying to contact our friend, which was quite frustrating. Only after we showed him a photo did he finally allow us to enter.
What surprised us most was that the restaurant was actually quite empty, with many available tables. We don’t understand why we were told it was full and asked to go elsewhere.
We hope the hotel can improve staff communication and professionalism to avoid similar situations in the future.FromPKR 21,378

This colonial-style hotel is imbued with a strong maritime theme from the lobby to the bar, restaurant, and executive lounge. Every detail, from the ceiling fans, shutters, telescopes, heavy wooden desks, and leather chairs in the rooms, to the tropical plants and wicker weaving in the restaurant, and the magenta swan display rack and fabric sofas in the lobby, exudes a refined charm with a sense of history.
The hotel breakfast was also quite good, with a satisfying variety and excellent quality. This time, my room included a minibar and executive lounge access. The minibar was superb, with delicious complimentary chocolates and snacks for drinks, as well as local beer and fresh juices. However, please note that the executive lounge does not allow children, so unfortunately, I couldn't experience it fully this time, only went in for a quick look. My child did get a huge, delicious cookie.

I really like this hotel and usually book two 20 sq.m. rooms when traveling with my family, which I did this time too. We arrived around 10 AM, dropped off our luggage, and headed out, returning for check-in after 9 PM. A male staff member mistakenly thought we'd booked one room, but after clarifying, we were given two. Upon entering, we noticed the room type differed from what we'd reserved; we received the 16.5 sq.m. layout. The difference was in room size and amenities; the 20 sq.m. rooms have a desk, a small dining table, and two chairs. I immediately contacted the front desk, but to no avail. Then I spoke with Trip.com, who said there were no other rooms available for an exchange. While getting ready, I found hair on the bathroom wall, a strange noise when turning on the hot water tap, and a missing button on the bathrobe. I contacted Trip.com again, and they offered a points compensation. I hope Trip.com's display pages accurately reflect reality and that the hotel assigns rooms according to reservations.FromPKR 11,981

Compared to Kyoto, the Monterey in Kobe offers much better service. Sona is quite small, and lately, there's been too much of a Korean presence there. Although the hotel is a short walk from the station, it's still easy to find. There is indeed a red-light district nearby, making it a bit noisy and messy (though understandable). The room layout is reasonable, the TV supports screen mirroring, and the toiletries are generously provided, with the DHC lotion being particularly good. Don Quijote is just a short walk away, and it's very convenient to get to Sannomiya Station and Kitano Ijinkan (home to the famous 'Life Toast' and the 70-year-old coffee shop), all within walking distance. The breakfast selection is rich and delicious, with the bread being a pleasant surprise.
On a side note, you should definitely avoid the Monterey in Kyoto. Their unfriendliness towards Chinese guests is blatant, especially from the middle-aged Japanese female receptionist! She denied us available rooms unless we insisted and argued on the spot. She also reneged on a promised room type change, even rolling her eyes when a colleague confirmed it with her.🙄FromPKR 14,525

The hygiene was impeccable, and the front desk staff spoke excellent English. The room size was quite generous for Japan, easily accommodating a 28-inch suitcase fully open. It's about a 5-10 minute walk from JR Sannomiya, a straight shot down one road.

The room was tiny; we could only unpack our luggage in the hallway right by the door. The breakfast selection was extremely poor, so I wouldn't recommend booking it separately. They don't provide any toiletries. On the bright side, there's complimentary coffee and hot water available all day on the first floor, and they offer decent ice cream at 8 PM. I chose this hotel because I had a conference at the convention centre not knowing I have limited choice of getting something to eat (looking for halal option). Despite the lacking, I was able to survive for 3 days as I had to commute the Portliner to get something to eat. The location was quite a distance towards the portliner station therefore you have to walk a bit with your luggage if you are coming using public transport. The hotel surrounding is quiet. A heartwarming and thoughtful mountain hotel experience.
This hotel stay completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I felt a deep sense of genuine hospitality – there was a dedicated shuttle service directly from the station to the hotel, saving me the hassle of dragging my luggage around.
The next day, I planned to explore the hot spring town at the foot of the mountain. The hotel proactively offered to store my luggage and deliver it to the station at the bottom of the mountain at the agreed time, completely freeing up my hands. The food was surprisingly delicious, with fresh ingredients and thoughtful pairings. The room was clean and comfortable, meticulously cleaned daily, and the common areas were also spotless.
The service throughout was attentive yet unobtrusive. From the shuttle arrangements to the luggage storage, everything was efficient and heartwarming. It's truly perfect for travelers planning a hot spring trip. I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit.FromPKR 80,957

The light in the middle of the room was broken, the wires were exposed and the light bulbs were removed. It was very dark at night, and there was a Bible in the drawer. The whole hotel has a very old atmosphere and European interiors. I felt like it was a hotel from an American horror movie. Hahaha, I was a little scared alone, but overall it was just like that, ordinary. I saw a swimming pool and a gym, but I only stayed for one night and didn't go there. This hotel is recommended for family trips.
While the entire building exudes a sense of history, both the exterior and interior are extremely luxurious, and the grounds are used lavishly. The hotel's abundant use of natural stone, particularly within the building, and its on-site wedding venue, highlight its former luxury status. While the hotel shows signs of age, it is well-maintained and clean.
The hot spring water is rich and contains a high amount of iron, making it impossible to see the bottom of the tub, and the iron solidifies outside the bathtub. It was a memorable experience for hot spring lovers.
The service was also very courteous, and despite our late check-in, we were accommodated promptly. Breakfast offered a wide selection of Japanese and Western dishes, a wide variety of drinks, and homemade dishes like scrambled eggs and simmered pumpkin. We were very satisfied with both the variety and the taste.

This stay was in a Japanese-style room. The layout was conventional, not very spacious, and a bit dated, but the cleanliness was good. The hotel's two elevators are quite small, leading to long waits during peak hours, which is inefficient. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and noteworthy.
The bathhouse is divided into public and guest-only sections: the public bath on the 2nd-3rd floors doesn't provide towels but has lockers; the guest-only bath on the GF floor offers hand towels but no lockers, so it's advisable not to bring valuables. Overall, the experience was decent.
