"Both check-in and check-out are self-service, so there's no need to interact with anyone, which is perfect for introverts! The room was incredibly clean and very comfortable. I was initially worried that being so close to Kyoto Station, I might be disturbed by the sound of passing cars at night, but the hotel's soundproofing is excellent – I wasn't bothered at all! I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Kyoto! However, to be honest, it is a bit of a walk from the subway station, which can be a little inconvenient for getting to and from the city center."

"Just got back and I have to give a huge shout-out to the front desk staff at M's Plus Shijo-Omiya! My phone suddenly broke down during my stay, which made getting around and contacting my family back home incredibly difficult. Thanks to all the lovely ladies and gentlemen at the front desk, who helped me so much – some of their help even seemed to go above and beyond their duties. I really must have caused them a lot of trouble, I feel so bad!
As for the hotel itself, the location is great (I wouldn't say the absolute best, but then the price would be higher, right?). I recommend everyone carefully read the 'reviews' section, there's some really useful information there."

"The room was on the smaller side, but it was perfectly equipped. We booked a triple room, and it was just right for our needs. The hotel's location in Gojo is significantly quieter than Shijo, and its residential setting provided a very comfortable and pleasant atmosphere. It's conveniently located near Gojo subway station. We easily walked to Shijo and Kyoto Station, and Kamo River was also within easy reach. There's a Mini Stop convenience store right downstairs, which was very handy for picking up essentials. The self check-in and check-out system was incredibly convenient. Both the main entrance and room doors used keypad codes, which meant no fuss with key cards. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our stay. It was quiet, clean, and the location was very good."

"There are many bus stops nearby, just a 2-3 minute walk away. A 7-Eleven is also right across the street, just a couple of steps away.
You don't have to worry about food, there are plenty of dining options near the hotel. Getting to places like Hachimangu Shrine is about a 30-minute journey, which is perfectly acceptable.
The hygiene is very good, and you can exchange 100-yen coins at the front desk."

"Pros: Great location, right by Kiyomizu-Gojo Station, which makes getting around very convenient. It's also an easy walk to Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Sannenzaka. We arrived at 2:50 PM, and the front desk still allowed us to check in, unlike some other hotels that strictly enforce a 3 PM check-in. The hotel's cleanliness is good, and the front desk staff are very friendly and polite. The hotel also offers a shuttle service to and from Kyoto Station in the morning. These 'soft' amenities are definitely a plus.
Cons: The facilities in the double room are very basic. The bathroom doesn't have a bathtub, and aside from the bed, a small table, and a cabinet (as seen in the photos), there's no other furniture in the room, not even a chair. Compared to other Japanese hotels I've stayed in, the amenities here are too simple. Also, being in Kyoto, the price is on the higher side."

Even though we arrived a bit early, they weren't rigid about the 3 PM check-in time and our room was ready, which was a pleasant surprise. The room felt very comfortable, despite not being very large. The bathroom was a bit small. Being directly across from Kyoto Station made getting around incredibly convenient.
Just a small suggestion: it would be great if they could add Alipay and WeChat Pay options for the laundry machines (as coins aren't accepted either), in addition to credit cards.
Oh, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming!

It's conveniently tucked away in an alley just opposite the train station, making it incredibly easy to get around while still providing a tranquil escape from the city buzz. The service was excellent, and the facilities were well-appointed. Breakfast was both delicious and beautifully presented. Guests can also enjoy private onsen baths on the basement level, and afternoon tea is a delightful perk. Overall, I was extremely impressed and thoroughly satisfied!

The rooms are also spacious, and the air conditioning is remarkably quiet. The bakery in the ground floor lobby is delicious – truly, good ingredients make for great taste! I particularly liked the greenery right at the hotel entrance and the overall decor of the lobby. The only minor drawback is the lack of a convenience store nearby; you have to walk about 500-600 meters to find a FamilyMart.

RRizhaomengnvMy absolute favorite in Japan! The staff member at the front desk was incredibly friendly. All the water in the hotel is filtered and potable, which is a fantastic perk! My single room had excellent soundproofing and great blackout curtains – so much so that I even overslept and missed check-out the next day! I rushed out, forgot my room card, and the staff member patiently helped me out. I promise I won't be so silly next time! Highly recommended! The location is also fantastic, just about ten meters from the subway entrance – incredibly convenient! (Didn't manage to snap photos of the hotel itself, so here are a few from Kyoto instead!)

I recently had the opportunity to stay at your hotel, and I would like to share my experience with you. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional design and comfort your property offers. Kengo Kuma’s architectural brilliance, with its use of natural wood, thoughtful lighting, and integration of art pieces, creates a stunning and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the comfort of the rooms, the quality of the materials, the size of the beds, and the premium linens were truly impressive. In terms of design and comfort, your hotel sets a remarkable standard.
However, I did encounter several service-related issues that I believe could be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I would like to share these points in the hope that they are helpful for future improvements:
1. Breakfast Lounge and Sushi Area: The proximity of these two areas creates a strong odor upon entering, which can be unpleasant. Improved ventilation could easily mitigate this issue.
2. Food and Beverage Service After Breakfast: The lack of food and beverage service after breakfast hours was inconvenient. At the very least, providing a space for guests to enjoy tea or coffee would be a welcome addition.
3. Room Service Availability: After a long journey, I was surprised to learn that room service was unavailable and that only rice balls could be provided. Expanding room service options would greatly improve the guest experience.
4. Flexibility with Breakfast Hours: Due to the time difference, I arrived slightly late for breakfast at 10:10 AM and was informed that nothing could be served. Even my request for tea did not receive a clear response. Greater flexibility in accommodating guests dealing with jet lag would be highly appreciated.
5. Lobby Services: The inability to offer anything to drink or even host a guest in the lobby felt restrictive. This could be improved to make the lobby a more welcoming space.
6. Spa Experience: I was unable to experience the renowned Banyan Tree spa as it was fully booked. Expanding spa reservation availability would help meet guest expectations for this signature offering.
In summary, while the hotel excels in design and comfort, the service offerings seem to be constrained by rigid rules and limited hours, which can detract from the overall guest experience. I strongly believe that adopting a more flexible, guest-centered approach would significantly enhance satisfaction.
If the above issues were addressed, I would certainly consider staying at your hotel again during my next visit to Kyoto. Once again, I want to thank you for the exceptional design and comfort provided during my stay and hope that these suggestions contribute to further elevating your standards.

The room and everything they provided was very good and love their pyjamas motif as really feel very Japanese 🥰 we really enjoyed their tea lounge where all kinds of hot and cold beverages are provided including matcha roll snacks that we ended up purchasing from Kyoto station for gifts home, after asking the staff there where to get it from. Would definitely return to Rihga Gran if we ever visit Kyoto again.

The bathroom was also a good size with a separate wet and dry area. However, I didn't use the shower there as I went to the large public bath on the 9th floor instead. Soaking in it was a great way to relieve the fatigue of a day of travel. The hotel is conveniently located right next to a bus stop, offering easy access to places like the National Museum, Ichiran Ramen (Shijo branch), and Shinshindo Bakery (Shijo branch).

GGuest UserWe really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Briller, the location was comvenient and very easy to get all around Kyoto either by subways or the city busses, which all had stops within a few minutes walking-distance. We especially loved the shopping nearby that was recommended to us by the receptionist. The AEON mall was 7 minutes away and had tons of food spots as well as great shops. All the amenities at the hotel were great as well, and staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Kyoto!
