It's best to enter through the western entrance. Turn right and then left, and there's a ramp leading up. This is the shortest route up. Entrance is only 2 yuan or 159 rubles on TripCom.

We stopped here right after the Forbidden City—the park is right across from the northern exit. The hill offers incredible views! We booked tickets online on the spot through Trip.com—it was much faster than standing in line at the ticket office. After hours of walking around the palace, our legs were already aching, but we forced ourselves to climb to the top in 15 minutes. The view from the top was absolutely breathtaking! Only from here can you truly appreciate the insane scale and symmetry of the Forbidden City. The park itself is very green, well-maintained, and has its own unique, calming energy. Be sure to climb up here, otherwise your impression of the palace will be incomplete. It's best to stock up on energy and take a break before the climb, as the steps are steep.

Jingshan Park, at the heart of Beijing on the city’s central axis, was the imperial garden of the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, where emperors hunted, practiced archery, and honored ancestors.

According to the Beijing government’s official website, Jingshan Park is a historic imperial garden located on the city’s central axis and is part of the UNESCO-listed Beijing Central Axis.

  • Key history: It was built with clay from the moat of the Forbidden City and was the "backyard" of the royal family before opening to the public in 1928.

Thank you, Teacher Liu, for the guided tour. You described the emperor's sacrificial rituals so vividly, explaining that the sacrificial animals had to be "of noble birth = pure color, perfect appearance = without scars, pure in body and mind = young, and sacrificed with solemnity = killed with a single blow." 👍👍👍

The scholar said, "Director Li took me on a tour of the Forbidden City. It was a rare opportunity to see this historically significant palace and personally experience the wisdom and effort of the ancients in building it. Throughout the tour, Director Li's explanations were vivid and detailed, narrating the rich history and culture in a way that was both insightful and engaging, captivating the audience and leaving them with a wealth of knowledge. Moreover, the itinerary was very thoughtful and meticulously planned, demonstrating professionalism and dedication at every turn. This visit was unforgettable, and I highly recommend Director Li—a five-star review!"

We started the day at 7am bus departure to avoid over crowdedness but The Badaling great wall is still very crowded. We arrived at 830am ish and took the return trip cable car which was faster than we expected for the price and came down around 930am. We were given free time until 1030am but leave at 11am as some guests took more time without cable car. After going to summer palace we took the boat experience, listened to the stories painted along the long corridor and viewed the resting place of royal families. We then went to yuanmingyuan park at 3-5pm. The tour guide is very knowledgeable and seems different from other tour guides. He touches on history and life values with his own views such as filial piety on mother where Qianlong Emperor wants to honor her mother Empress Dowager Chongqing and other important chinese cultures that is forgotten. We didnt have time for lunch and my kid almost had a tantrum for being hungry but luckily i brought some bread.
