Cuihu District Kunming|1.57km from city center
This is what a classic, high-end hotel should be like. First, the location is superb, right next to Cuihu Park, about a 3-minute walk away. There are plenty of dining, entertainment, and shopping options nearby, and it's less than a 30-minute walk to Zhuanxin Market. The service is attentive and proper; since we drove, staff greeted us at the entrance and guided us to parking, which is all convenient ground-level parking. The facilities are well-maintained; while it doesn't have all the trendy gadgets of influencer hotels, it has everything you need. Room service was responsive to all requests, and the breakfast was abundant and of good quality. This will definitely be my first choice next time I visit Kunming.

The front desk staff were warm and efficient. We got an upgrade to a better room, which offered even more beautiful views of Kunming. The breakfast was a real local treat, with delicious grilled Erkuai, steamed Ersi, rice noodles, and Xidoufen (pea jelly). The cakes sold in the lobby were also very tasty and reasonably priced, with a buy-one-get-one-free offer after 6 PM. The only downside was that the room facilities were a bit old, but that's understandable for an older five-star hotel. It's only a 10-minute walk from Kunming Station. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Kunming.

Nanping Pedestrian Street Kunming|0.72km from city center
After reading numerous reviews, I felt the hotel's location was great and the breakfast was good, suggesting that as an established five-star property, it should be decent. However, many negative reviews mentioned outdated facilities, which made me quite apprehensive upon arrival. My check-in experience wasn't great. We arrived a little after 1 PM, but our room wasn't ready yet, still being cleaned. We were asked to store our luggage and return later to check in after we had gone out. After we went out for lunch, it was around 2:30 PM and the room still wasn't ready. The elderly and children in our group were quite tired. They managed to sort it out within ten minutes after that, but then we had issues with the room key cards. I was initially quite disappointed, but once we got to the room, I found the facilities weren't as dated as some reviews suggested. The room felt quite spacious, and the amenities were decent – much better than I had anticipated. The balcony offered a direct view of Nanqiang Street Night Market, which was bustling with food stalls, and it was also very close to the old town. Later, a staff member helped deliver our luggage to the room with a very good attitude. They explained that during peak season, with many tourists, service might not always be perfect, and I decided to be understanding about it. The service for the remaining two days of our stay was excellent. The breakfast was indeed impressive. There was a rich selection of hot and cold dishes, including local Yunnan specialties like freshly prepared rice noodles. They also had a good array of Western-style simple meals, delicious porridge, and a wide variety of salads. A special mention goes to their 'flower cakes' (鲜花饼); they were clearly freshly baked and absolutely far superior to any we found outside. We even bought four boxes to take home. The complimentary water provided was local mineral water, which was surprisingly pleasant. Overall, I'd say the value for money was good, and my entire family was very satisfied with our stay.

Hotel was pretty good. The location is fantastic and the rooms were clean and the service was above average. We had an issue with temperature control- the air conditioning doesn’t work in the winter, and this was not indicated on the temperature control panel. The staff graciously provided a portable device when the issue was brought up. All in all pretty good hotel.

South Asia Feature No. 1 City Kunming|0.82km from city center
I stayed at Cachet Boutique Hotel Kunming on 25–26 October and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is located a little away from the main pedestrian street, but the area around it has plenty of lively bars and cafés that attract a younger crowd — great if you enjoy a vibrant atmosphere. The hotel itself was clean, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully designed. I was really impressed by the stylish decor, quality amenities, and the spacious room layout. We were also pleasantly surprised to receive a free room upgrade, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Checking in/out was fast and hassle free. As an additional benefit, the hotel is located 10 minutes from the train station. Overall, it’s excellent value for money — I’d definitely recommend Cachet Boutique Hotel to anyone visiting Kunming who’s looking for comfort, style, and a touch of local charm.

This hostel is right in the core area of Jinma Biji Archway, within walking distance to Nanping Street and Kunming Old Street, making it super convenient for all your dining, entertainment, and shopping needs. The bunk beds are incredibly well-designed, each with its own charging port, reading light, and storage compartment, offering maximum privacy. The 24-hour front desk staff are warm and reliable, and you can even store your luggage for free. The common areas are spacious, and the terrace and billiards room are perfect for socializing. It's spotlessly clean and offers great value for money. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Kunming!

Cuihu District Kunming|1.6km from city center
Tonight, I made a last-minute check-in at the 'Cuihu Hotel', designed by I.M. Pei. It was unplanned, but a delightful surprise. In my opinion, a hotel isn't a museum; its 'sense of history' should be elegant, not heavy, and its 'vintage feel' should be classic, not dated. Before arriving, I was very worried this 69-year-old hotel would feel stuffy and decayed. To my surprise, Cuihu Hotel strikes the perfect balance and shows great wisdom. For example, the public area ceilings are adorned with 24K gold leaf, and the murals feature maple wood relief carvings with gold accents – aesthetics that are certainly a product of their time [tears of joy emoji]. However, they've now added many art pieces to temper this 'bling' and enhance the elegance and scholarly vibe. Even the subtle classical jazz music and the light, delicate fragrance filling the air inject a fresh, youthful spirit into the overall ambiance. Yet, the common issues of older hotels persist: outdated facilities, bathtub design, and those unsightly large pillars… This leaves me feeling conflicted, both loving and hating it, and hesitant about whether I'd stay here again (especially with kids). What truly stood out was the check-in experience: the front desk gifted us fresh roses, a succulent potted plant, and a postcard as souvenirs. In the room, there was a handwritten card, red-billed gull biscuits, Yunnan small-bean coffee powder with a Moka pot. They even pre-arranged a bedtime dessert and a crib bumper. For welcome fruits, the housekeeping auntie knocked on our door with a basket, letting us choose our own! 😄 These interactions significantly elevated the stay, even adding a wonderful touch to my overall impression of this Yunnan trip. In summary, it has history but struggles with modernity; thankfully, the details, service, and quality are all excellent 👍. P.S. The room upgrade was successful, and my 'begging' for it went very smoothly.

The soundproofing was surprisingly good; I wasn't disturbed by any hallway noise at night. Dianchi Lake Scenic Area/ Sunac World Kunming|8.14km from city center
This hotel by Dianchi Lake is pretty good all-around. The environment, of course, is fantastic. The open-plan lobby is very grand, and the jewelry sold in the shops reflects its upscale positioning. I even tried some Pu'er tea at the tea shop, and it was rich and fragrant. The public areas are huge. I heard there are peacocks somewhere, but I asked several staff members, and they all said they didn't know where they were, which was a bit funny. Even though I stayed for three nights, I still didn't get a chance to use the hot springs. Breakfast was quite varied, but I actually started feeling a bit of altitude sickness and couldn't eat much. The restaurant itself was a bit hard to find; I walked around for a long time on the first day trying to locate it. It would be great if the signs along the way were more detailed. It's about a 20-minute walk to Haigeng Dam by Dianchi Lake, or even 10-15 minutes if you walk quickly. The scenery along the way is beautiful, perfect for a stroll and to aid digestion.

Nanping Pedestrian Street Kunming|0.72km from city center
My main purpose for visiting Kunming this time was to escape the summer heat, relax, and explore the local food scene, so I chose a hotel right next to Kunming Old Street. It's an established five-star hotel, showing its age a bit, but that also gives it a reassuring sense of reliability. The rooms are standard, nothing fancy, but the blue skies and white clouds outside the window were beautiful every day. The complimentary welcome fruits and snacks were plentiful and even included lollipops, which made me feel like the hotel puts a special emphasis on families with children. There's a kids' play area on the floor, and the buffet restaurant even has a dedicated children's dining section. The breakfast was the biggest highlight – rich, delicious, and featuring many Yunnan specialty dishes. Just be sure to avoid peak times. The hotel's location is unbeatable. Nanping Walking Street, Nanqiang Street, and Jinma Biji Archway are all within walking distance, and ride-sharing services are readily available, with pickups almost instantaneous.

Dian Chi Exhibition Center Kunming|6.74km from city center
My family and I recently stayed at the Kunming Hailibinya Hotel, and it was a fantastic experience that I highly recommend to everyone. The hotel's architectural style is brimming with a rich Thai ambiance. Upon entering, it feels like stepping into a Southeast Asian garden, which is incredibly pleasant. The large hot spring performance stage pool in the atrium is a major highlight of the hotel. Every evening, there are wonderful shows, and you can enjoy them right from your room's balcony, like having a private box at a grand theater. The room facilities are also excellent. Our room was spacious and bright, and the balcony even thoughtfully included a drying rack for clothes. The bathroom had a wet and dry separation, and the German bathroom products were very comfortable to use. The independent LCD TV allowed us to enjoy entertainment while taking a bath. The hotel's service is particularly commendable. The front desk staff were warm and friendly, and both check-in and check-out were handled very quickly and efficiently. Throughout the hotel, whether in the hot spring area or other areas, the staff always had a smile on their faces and were eager to help, which made us feel very welcome. The hot springs are a special feature of the hotel. The water quality is clean, and after a soak, our skin felt smooth. The hot spring area has multiple pools, as well as facilities like a kids' play area pool and water slides, which kept the children entertained. Furthermore, the hotel's buffet was also very rich, with a wide variety of Chinese and Western delicacies, as well as local specialties, all tasting great. However, the hotel does have a few minor drawbacks. For example, the surrounding amenities still need improvement; if you go out at night, there aren't many options. Additionally, some value-added services at the hotel, such as body scrubs, are relatively expensive. But overall, these minor flaws do not detract from our overall positive impression of the hotel. The next time we come to Kunming, we will still choose to stay at the Hailibinya Hotel.

Let's cut to the chase: this hotel is absolutely fantastic, hands down. For its price range, it's one of the best choices out there. It's only 400 meters from the train station, so even if you sleep in and only have 30 minutes to catch your high-speed train, you'll still make it with time to spare. If you're not specifically looking for trendy aesthetics or only staying in newly opened hotels (this one looks like it's been around for a while, and some in-room facilities are a bit dated, though generally clean and tidy), then this place is an exceptionally good option. (I'm not sure if it's the Jinjiang Group I remember from way back when.) The hotel really nails the details across the board, from the front desk welcome to the attitude of staff encountered in the hallways and even room service. They manage to make guests feel comfortable without intruding on their private space. Every staff member has an excellent attitude. They provide a fruit plate in the room and even bring complimentary tremella soup, thoughtfully indicating the best time to drink it. The hairdryer is a Philips, the disposable slippers are cotton with an extra layer of foam cushioning, and there are apparently six types of pillows to choose from... These are amenities usually found in higher-priced hotels (including the real flowers in the room). I was pleasantly surprised that this hotel treats all guests equally; they didn't skimp on service just because my room type was cheaper. They even gave me a free upgrade (around 30 square meters, very comfortable for two people). It's excellent. Besides the slightly older facilities, there's really not much to complain about. When leaving, they even gave us fresh flower cakes (which both my girlfriend and I thought were delicious). The staff's etiquette upon departure was also spot-on. Many hotels these days have forgotten these basic courtesies that used to be standard for hosts, so it's impressive that this hotel still maintains such high standards and a great service atmosphere. My trip to Kunming overall was not very satisfying, and I don't have much affection for the city, but this hotel, truly, is superb. It was the most satisfying part of my entire journey. Finally, here are a few photos of the seagulls I took. The seagull season at Dianchi Lake is definitely worth a visit and makes for great pictures. If there are no seagulls, you might want to reconsider. (Addition: The luggage storage at this hotel is also one of the most thoughtful I've encountered in its price range. They tie multiple pieces of luggage together, secure them with red ropes and poles, and even have a bell to call for assistance, haha! Key takeaway: Discussing service without considering the price is pointless. To receive such excellent service at an affordable price is truly invaluable in today's society. If I come back next time, I will definitely choose this hotel again.)

Hotel is really close to the airport. Very convenient pick up and drop off service from the hotel. The rooms are large and clean, free water, coffee, tea. Breakfast said to be included but I did not see any, perhaps too early. Slept well had good shower and was in the airline lounge within an hour from waking up.

The room layout is well-designed, the ambiance is great, and it has a very stylish feel. The service is also very attentive. The hotel's location right in the city center makes it convenient to go anywhere. The cafe on the third floor is perfect for photos – if you're lazy to go out but love taking pictures, you should definitely check it out. They also offer a variety of drinks and snacks, making this a hidden gem of a hotel where you can eat and stay. The only downside is that, due to its specific style, the lighting isn't very strong, so if you prefer bright rooms, you might want to consider other options!

This hotel is wonderfully located right in the center of Kunming city, making it perfect for exploring local attractions, shopping, and dining. We especially loved that it’s close to halal food options, which made meals very convenient and enjoyable. The hotel itself is well-maintained and comfortable, with lovely rooms and a relaxing atmosphere. The staff were professional, dedicated, and always willing to help with any request, their service truly stood out. The view from the hotel is beautiful, adding an extra touch to our stay. Overall, a fantastic experience. Highly recommended, and we would definitely come back again!

Nanping Pedestrian Street Kunming|0.4km from city center
The location is fantastic, nestled in the middle of an alley, offering a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle. To the right, it's just a few minutes walk across the street to Jinma Biji Square. To the left, a few minutes takes you to Wangfujing Department Store and the subway station. Across the street from the subway station is the old town. Subway Line 3 gets you directly to Xishan Park in less than half an hour. Going the other direction, you can reach the Eastern Bus Station (the terminus), transfer to Line 6, and in 40 minutes for 6 RMB, you're at Changshui Airport. Line 5 goes to Dianchi Lake. If you head out to the right, turn left at the intersection, bus route 90 takes three stops to Zhuanxin Market, and the terminus is Daguan Park. Although the room furniture isn't as new as some chain hotels, the room was clean, and the service was excellent. They even gave us complimentary flower cakes upon check-in and two lovely small towels when we checked out. The price was also very reasonable. Highly recommended!

Yunnan University of Finance and Economics Area Kunming|10.63km from city center
The hotel is in a good location, very close to Kunming Botanical Garden and next to Yunnan Agricultural University. The environment of the Agricultural University is not inferior to that of the Botanical Garden, with green trees and a good place for walking. Although the hotel is a certain age, it is well maintained and does not feel old at all. It is clean and tidy. The flower arrangements and landscape shapes everywhere are very artistic. The service is also very good. Every employee I met greeted me with a smile. I especially want to praise the housekeeper Xiao Yang. The thoughtful service left us a good impression. He arranged fruit yogurt on time every day and kept asking us if we needed anything. After a day, we seemed to have become old friends. We couldn't help but greet each other enthusiastically when we met, because I felt that Xiao Yang wanted to provide us with better service from the bottom of his heart. This sincerity is something I have never felt in other hotels. In addition, the hotel restaurant is really delicious and highly recommended. For this reason, we stayed for another day.

Incredible breakfast with dozens of things to choose from in a beautiful dining room with large glass windows overlooking a garden. Staff were very eager to help, though only the concierge spoke good English. The room was very large with a good bed and large bathroom. Very clean and comfortable. As with other hotels we visited in China, we occasionally smelled some cigarette/cigar smoke in the (non-smoking) room or in the hallway outside the room.

My family went on a trip, and my colleagues recommended this hotel. It is really worth staying in! The hotel is located in the business district, so you don't have to worry about eating, drinking, and playing. You can get there in a few steps. It is also very convenient to travel around. You can get a taxi at the door of the hotel. It is a 10-minute drive from Dianchi Lake and surrounding scenic spots. The service is also very good. They will greet you when they meet, and respond to your needs in a timely manner. There is a self-service laundry room on the 2nd floor, which can be used for drying. It is very convenient to wash clothes, and the breakfast is delicious! The room is comfortable and I will choose this hotel next time

The location of the hotel is away from the city, if that what you are looking for, its quiet and very green. The rooms are large and well supplied but a bit dated. The breakfast is good and is at the top of the hill with a great view. In room massage service was a highlight of our stay and very reasonably priced and excellent. It is a great choice if you don't mind a 40 -50 min ride into the city center.

Nanping Pedestrian Street Kunming|1.04km from city center
Overall, the stay was highly satisfying and definitely worth recommending. We were initially drawn by the ethnic characteristics of the hotel when booking, and after checking in, we were truly impressed by the warm and professional service, well-equipped rooms, and convenient location. Given that we were traveling as a family with elderly members, the staff patiently helped us upgrade and adjust our room type until we were completely satisfied. The breakfast offered a nutritious and varied selection—the traditional pot milk tea comes highly recommended. The hotel also provides a complimentary ethnic photo experience, which aligns perfectly with its cultural theme. Its location is another advantage, within walking distance to several city attractions, and the lively atmosphere downstairs adds a touch of local charm, somewhat making up for the minor drawbacks of being housed in an older building (such as sharing the elevator with neighboring businesses).

👍 Introduction: This hotel is upscale and grand, clean and hygienic. For breakfast, I had rice noodles. The room has a projector to watch movies, and it's relatively quiet. It offers good value for money, and overall, I was quite satisfied with my stay. 🌟 Suggestions: Add a floor-standing clothes rack for drying clothes and include welcome fruits like Hami melon and watermelon. 🚗 Transportation: Taxis are very convenient (though it's a bit of a walk inside and a little hard to find, next to a hot pot restaurant).

I was quite hesitant when booking a hotel, but I figured Howard Johnson would be a safe bet, and it certainly didn't let us down. The hotel isn't far from Dianchi Lake, and the surroundings are very pleasant and quiet. It's convenient to get around, whether by car or shared electric scooter. There are many hotels in the vicinity, including some more upscale options, but I think Howard Johnson offers pretty good value for money. Our room even came with a terrace, which was a lovely touch. The only slight downside was that some of the facilities felt a bit dated, but otherwise, everything else was great.

South Asia Feature No. 1 City Kunming|2.4km from city center
The Vienna Hotel is as reassuring as ever, and the deluxe double room is upgraded for free. The price is still OK. The waiter and the front desk are very intimate, the room size is about 25 square meters, and there are tatami mats near the window. The items are still sitting down and resting. There are places that will not appear very cramped. This is especially satisfactory. The most comfortable is the Vienna mattress, and the same feeling as at home, whether it is a business trip or a trip, Vienna is the first choice.
