The room was clean and comfortable, not too hot and not too cold. I slept for a solid 8 hours, even better than at home! The hotel also thoughtfully provided a fruit plate. The front desk staff was very welcoming; they helped deliver our luggage to the room while we went out for dinner. The breakfast offered a great variety and was delicious, especially the pastries which were healthy and not overly sweet. It's very close to Cuihu Park, making morning exercise incredibly convenient. The gym on the 21st floor offers a fantastic 360-degree view! I'll definitely choose this place again when I come back to Kunming.

My check-in experience at Holiday Inn Kunming was very satisfying. The front desk staff were warm and attentive, and the check-in process was efficient and quick. The hotel's location is excellent, with convenient transportation access and close proximity to both the city center and major attractions. The room was clean and comfortable, well-equipped, and the bed was soft, ensuring a good night's sleep. The breakfast offered a rich variety, combining both Chinese and Western options to cater to different tastes. Overall, the experience was comfortable and convenient, making it a great choice for business trips or leisure vacations.

This is an old-school five-star hotel in Kunming, and I'd give it a solid four stars. The facilities are definitely showing their age, which is understandable given how long it's been open. The central AC is centrally controlled, so you can't adjust the temperature yourself, which made for a less comfortable stay. The breakfast selection was pretty standard, nothing to write home about. Service was also just okay, not quite what you'd expect from a true five-star establishment. The biggest plus is its excellent location, close to Kunming Railway Station and with a shopping street right downstairs, making getting around very convenient. It has a pool and gym, both quite spacious, but the pool looked a bit neglected and I wasn't entirely confident about the water quality. Overall, it's a decent, no-frills place that mostly wins out on its convenient location.

A huge thank you to Jenny from the front desk! She was incredibly attentive, adding me on WeChat beforehand to help prepare the room and even offered a complimentary breakfast for my child. She consistently followed up on my room during my stay, showing great dedication. In the evening, I also tried the hotel's Chinese restaurant set menu for two at 198 yuan, which was excellent value for money. The portions were generous, and the food tasted great (I've screenshot the menu for everyone). Out of the three hotels I tried in Kunming – Crowne Plaza Kunlun, Wanda Vista, and Sofitel – Crowne Plaza Kunlun and Wanda Vista both offered fantastic service. Sofitel, however, was a letdown; the previous guest's takeout was still in the room, and the staff's attitude was unpleasant. Crowne Plaza offered the best value for money, and Jenny's service was by far the most thoughtful. Just a small suggestion: the water pressure from the faucets in the room could be improved as it was a bit low. But this is a minor issue, and overall, I highly recommend this hotel.

Service: For our Chinese New Year trip, we chose Wanda Vista, and front desk staffer Xiao Xie was incredibly welcoming. Seeing that we were a family, she proactively helped us upgrade our room. When we asked about local food and attractions, she patiently offered recommendations, sending locations and photos. The breakfast was incredibly rich and well-balanced nutritionally – both the seniors and children were very happy with it! PS: On Chinese New Year's Eve, my child put two red envelopes under the pillow for 'good luck money' and we forgot to take them when we left the next day. We only found out when front desk staffer Chen Chen called us. Knowing we wouldn't be returning to Kunming, she went above and beyond to resolve the issue for us. She wrote an explanation and requested approval from her manager, and then Xiao Xie personally transferred the amount of the red packets to us. This was a truly delightful stay, and we'll definitely choose Wanda Vista again when we return to Kunming! A big thank you again to Xiao Xie and Chen Chen!

My husband and I have been traveling for many years, visiting most Chinese cities and staying in countless hotels. Jingbi Hall truly left a deep impression on me. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I felt the atmosphere I love – a beautiful Chinese style. The front desk lady was incredibly kind, helping us check in and showing us to our room. She even gave us an extra day's breakfast! If we ever come back to Kunming, we'll definitely choose to stay here again. And one last thing, the cleaning lady even folded all of my husband's clothes, which was so thoughtful 🥹

Great hotel location, very close to the old town, and everything nearby is super convenient. The room was spacious and clean, and the bathroom had a separate shower and tub, which made my child very happy to take a bath. It's not far from the attractions and easy to get a taxi. This place has some pretty noticeable pros and cons. First off, the decor and overall environment are great, and the public areas are quite spacious. There are even tables and chairs outside the rooms for working or relaxing, and balconies for drying clothes. The location is excellent, but that also comes with some noise; you might hear car horns around 7 AM. Also, the hotel is connected to a bar, and you have to walk through it to get to your room, which was a bit confusing to find the first time. The front desk staff wasn't particularly warm, and they didn't offer all the necessary amenities during my first stay, so I had to ask for them. What's more, for this price, if it's not your first stay, they actually charge for toothpaste and toothbrushes – something I've never encountered before, as they're usually complimentary. The towels are also compressed disposable ones, not the standard sanitized kind, and they charge for them after the first use.

I stayed at Cachet Boutique Hotel Kunming on 25–26 October and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is located a little away from the main pedestrian street, but the area around it has plenty of lively bars and cafés that attract a younger crowd — great if you enjoy a vibrant atmosphere. The hotel itself was clean, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully designed. I was really impressed by the stylish decor, quality amenities, and the spacious room layout. We were also pleasantly surprised to receive a free room upgrade, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Checking in/out was fast and hassle free. As an additional benefit, the hotel is located 10 minutes from the train station. Overall, it’s excellent value for money — I’d definitely recommend Cachet Boutique Hotel to anyone visiting Kunming who’s looking for comfort, style, and a touch of local charm.

This hotel is a favorite even among old Kunming locals! It's just across the road from Cuihu Lake. The service is excellent, and during the Spring Festival, the hotel had lots of festive decorations and activities like drawing red envelopes, rubbings, and sugar painting! When we checked out, they even gave us a souvenir – I especially loved the cute little custom-made seagull doll. Oh, and for breakfast, I highly recommend the chicken rice noodles and the 'xi dou fen' (pea powder soup) with fried dough sticks. Both are Yunnan specialties, and even if you can't handle spice, you'll enjoy them!

If you continue along Nanping Pedestrian Street, you'll reach Kunming Old Street (where Duyue Tower is). I recommend walking there and taking a taxi back to save energy. When I called for an extra comforter, it was delivered very quickly. Their service consciousness is truly excellent! We stayed in Building 8, which is a bit further out but very quiet! You can take the shuttle bus, but walking there is also quite pleasant. The concierge team picked us up at 6 AM to take us to the lobby, and they handled all our luggage from arrival to departure. Overall, the service was great! The breakfast selection was huge, and the coffee was good. It's a 10-minute walk to Dianchi Lake; remember to go via Haigeng Grand Auditorium. Early in the morning, around 8 AM, there are fewer people and more seagulls – it's lovely. We missed two breakfasts due to an early flight. This is a great hotel! While the decor is a bit dated, it's very well-maintained, and the rooms are spotless. The beds are super comfortable, and the large balcony is perfect for families. I ordered takeout, but the hotel doesn't allow the deliveryman to deliver to the room because it was inconvenient for me, so I asked the front desk for help, and it was delivered to the room very quickly. When I asked the reason, the front desk guy told me that it was for the safety of the guests that the deliveryman was not allowed to go upstairs. The hotel has trained guests that if they need takeout to the room, they can help deliver it. The overall feeling of the hotel is good, and the service attitude is very good. When I checked in, I asked about the surrounding attractions and routes, and they explained it very patiently. The room internet connection was very fast, and I asked the waiter, who told me that each room has an independent dedicated line. The room feels clean, and you can swim, exercise, and take a hot spring bath. Since I had a lot of fun, I didn't have time to take a few photos of the hotel. It is definitely more wedding venue, more local oriented, very nice territory around, good for photoshoot and stuff , nice and friendly staff helped me a lot, but it was a bit confusing in general, like i booked it cause of hotsprings and outdoor pool, turns out you cannot use the outdoor pool and from all hot things was working only one stone bath. So basically we ended up in a very strange situation when 3 groups of people have or to wait in line to that bath or seat on each other. However Indoor pool was nice, big and clean, but bring your towel. The room itself is ...let's say not cosy and a lot reminded a changing room, probably cause of sink right next to the bed. So sum up, good place to have fun, massage, spa say, nice photos and so on, but maybe not a best place to stay for tourist.

Came to Kunming for 3 days and 2 nights with my mom, and it was a perfect experience. I didn't have high expectations when booking the hotel, as I'd never been to Kunming before. It was only while chatting with the Didi driver that I found out it was a five-star hotel and located right in the city center. The hotel's thoughtful service began the moment we stepped out of the car – they proactively opened the door, asked if we needed assistance, and Ms. Luo at the reception center patiently answered all our questions. After checking in, we discovered that all the hotel facilities were comprehensive and still very new, including branded toiletries. The hotel also delivered fresh Yunnan fruits and snacks every day. The hotel's location is excellent, just 5 minutes from the airport, and they offer a shuttle service (if you don't see a shuttle upon arrival, you might need to call the hotel to send one). For such a great location, the price of just over 200 yuan is incredibly fair. The air conditioning was comfortable, and with the recent good weather in Kunming, it wasn't cold at all. What really stood out was the hotel's attentive service, especially the housekeeping staff. They were very prompt in helping with requests and always greeted guests with a smile. Although the hotel facilities have been around for a while, you can tell the maintenance and housekeeping teams put in a lot of effort to keep them well-maintained. (A small suggestion for the hotel: the drawer handles are a bit sharp and could cut your hand if you're not careful. I hope the hotel can either modify them or warn guests.)

Colorful Yunnan Paradise Kunming|29.69km from city center
We drove to Kunming and stayed at the Crowne Plaza Ancient Dian, which was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish – truly the most pleasant surprise of our trip! The hotel's location is superb, right in the heart of the Ancient Dian Resort, next to Happy World and Dian Lake, making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing and activities. Ella provided exceptional service, even calling us before check-in to confirm our preferences. As someone who drives, parking is always a concern, but here it was a non-issue. The hotel parking lot has ample, spacious spots that are easy to maneuver, and even includes EV charging stations, completely alleviating any range anxiety – so friendly for electric car owners. Before our arrival, the hotel proactively called to confirm our itinerary and needs, a small detail that truly showed their thoughtfulness and made us feel welcome even before we got there. During Chinese New Year, the hotel was buzzing with festive spirit, offering a wide array of activities that delighted both adults and children, creating a wonderfully vibrant holiday atmosphere. Our room was clean, tidy, spacious, and comfortable, with soft bedding and excellent soundproofing, ensuring a great night's sleep. The breakfast was particularly impressive, with a rich variety of fresh and delicious options, catering to both Western and Chinese tastes, and featuring a full selection of Yunnan local snacks. We started each day feeling energized. The service staff were warm, polite, and responsive, making the entire process from check-in to check-out smooth and efficient. Whether it's the facilities, the attentive service, the festive ambiance, or the dining quality, Crowne Plaza Ancient Dian truly excels in every aspect. It's perfectly suited for family trips and self-drive tours. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Kunming and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Ancient Dian!

It's quite rare to see Marriott's Delta Hotels in China. There's one in Baoshan, Shanghai, one in Xi'an, one in Jiuzhaigou, and this one in Kunming. Those who get to stay here are truly lucky, because the value for money is incredibly high. For instance, this Kunming Delta shares all public facilities with the Sheraton in the other tower, and you can even go swimming! Yet, the price is comparable to a budget hotel, and sometimes the service is even better than the Sheraton's (I just stayed there and experienced it firsthand; they share the same management team). Perhaps they realize that value-conscious guests are more discerning. Anyway, I had a very comfortable stay and honestly didn't want to leave until I ran out of clean clothes. (On this note, I hope the hotel can improve and consider long-term guests more. Or is Delta's positioning purely for business travelers?)

The room was comfortable and pleasant, offering great value for a five-star international hotel in Kunming. The hotel specially arranged a high-floor corner suite for us with fantastic views, featuring nearly 270° ultra-large floor-to-ceiling windows. We comfortably watched the Kunming city skyline illuminated by the sunset. Surprisingly, the shower area also had large floor-to-ceiling windows and an extra-large bathtub, which instantly elevated our emotional experience. The executive lounge service was also excellent, with a very comfortable dining environment. The food was decent, though the afternoon tea selection was a bit limited. Fortunately, the complimentary welcome fruit was quite generous. The hotel gym is large and well-equipped, sufficient for guests from both this hotel and the Delta Hotel, also a Marriott brand in the twin tower, to share the facilities. Oh, and the hotel's main entrance leads directly to the 3rd floor of Fucheng Shopping Mall, making shopping and dining incredibly convenient.

Incredible breakfast with dozens of things to choose from in a beautiful dining room with large glass windows overlooking a garden. Staff were very eager to help, though only the concierge spoke good English. The room was very large with a good bed and large bathroom. Very clean and comfortable. As with other hotels we visited in China, we occasionally smelled some cigarette/cigar smoke in the (non-smoking) room or in the hallway outside the room.

Unexpectedly, I randomly booked this hotel and it turned out to be amazing! It's newly renovated, but there's no lingering smell of renovation. The front desk lady was incredibly warm, thoughtful, and attentive. She even upgraded us to a deluxe standard room for free! The room was very clean, and the bedding was the white color I prefer, giving it a high-class feel, and it was super comfortable to lie on. The price was quite reasonable too, making it a hotel with excellent value for money. Highly recommend! Highly recommend!

This hotel is right outside where all the food is! If you love cheap street food, this hotel's location is top-notch! Nanqiang Street is close by, but it's too commercialized and not worth visiting. The room was very satisfying. We had four luggage pieces, and the front desk even helped us with them, bringing them up the stairs from the basement car park—I've never seen such service before! Thumbs up! The food was okay, but overall, I'm very satisfied! If there were 10 stars, I'd give it a 10/10. It's such a shame I only stayed one night 😭.

Overall, the stay was highly satisfying and definitely worth recommending. We were initially drawn by the ethnic characteristics of the hotel when booking, and after checking in, we were truly impressed by the warm and professional service, well-equipped rooms, and convenient location. Given that we were traveling as a family with elderly members, the staff patiently helped us upgrade and adjust our room type until we were completely satisfied. The breakfast offered a nutritious and varied selection—the traditional pot milk tea comes highly recommended. The hotel also provides a complimentary ethnic photo experience, which aligns perfectly with its cultural theme. Its location is another advantage, within walking distance to several city attractions, and the lively atmosphere downstairs adds a touch of local charm, somewhat making up for the minor drawbacks of being housed in an older building (such as sharing the elevator with neighboring businesses).

My stay at RAW Hotel was an absolutely fantastic experience, truly embracing that industrial-chic comfort. The red brick facade with metal accents immediately sets a stylish tone. Stepping inside, the high-ceilinged space feels incredibly bright and open. Amber glass lamps paired with a black iron staircase, accented with some greenery, add a touch of warmth to the cool, hard-edged style, preventing it from feeling at all oppressive. The copper bathtub in the room was a real highlight for me. Placed by the window, I could enjoy the view of the brick walls outside while soaking – so relaxing and picture-perfect. The white brick walls with warm yellow pendant lights showcase incredible attention to detail; every shot I took was Instagram-ready without needing any edits. The hotel also has its own little bar, which was super convenient for a drink downstairs in the evening, no need to go far. The front desk service was very attentive, proactively recommending local restaurants and photo-worthy spots. My entire stay was comfortable and full of novel experiences. Both the value for money and the overall experience were top-notch. I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit.

I was quite hesitant when booking a hotel, but I figured Howard Johnson would be a safe bet, and it certainly didn't let us down. The hotel isn't far from Dianchi Lake, and the surroundings are very pleasant and quiet. It's convenient to get around, whether by car or shared electric scooter. There are many hotels in the vicinity, including some more upscale options, but I think Howard Johnson offers pretty good value for money. Our room even came with a terrace, which was a lovely touch. The only slight downside was that some of the facilities felt a bit dated, but otherwise, everything else was great.
