- Terminals 1, 2, and 3: These older structures are completely closed to commercial passenger traffic and have been permanently repurposed for cargo distribution, logistics hubs, and secondary airport administrative operations.

Transportation Options from Ürümqi Airport to Downtown
Getting from the airport into the city center is convenient, with multiple municipal and private transport networks operating directly out of Terminal 4.
Transit Mode | Average Cost (CNY / USD) | Travel Time | Operating Hours | Key Advantage |
Metro Line 1 | 5–7 CNY ($0.74–$1.03 USD) | 40–45 minutes | 07:40 – 23:30 | Bypasses peak highway congestion completely. |
Airport Shuttle Bus | 15 CNY ($2.20 USD) | 30–40 minutes | Matches flight arrivals | Direct transit to central city drop-off hubs. |
Taxi / Ride-Hailing | 30–50 CNY ($4.40–$7.35 USD) | 20–30 minutes | 24 hours / 7 days | Direct door-to-door transit to local hotels. |
Private Airport Transfer | 150–250 CNY ($22.00–$35.00 USD) | 20–30 minutes | 24/7 (Pre-booked) | Personalized meet-and-greet in the Arrivals hall. |
Car Rental Options | 160–240 CNY ($24.00–$35.00 USD) per day | Varies by route | Dependent on provider | Total travel autonomy for regional exploration. |
1. Ürümqi Airport Metro Line 1
Ürümqi Metro Line 1 terminates directly underneath the facility at the International Airport Station. The underground transit hall integrates seamlessly into the lower arrivals level of Terminal 4. This connection allows travelers to bypass peak-hour urban traffic congestion safely and predictably for a minimal fee. It connects you directly to core downtown stations like Hongshan and the Ürümqi South Railway Station network.
2. Official Airport Shuttle Bus Services
Express airport shuttle buses depart regularly from the ground transportation lane outside the Terminal 4 arrivals hall. The lines are dynamically synchronized with incoming flight schedules. The most popular route runs directly to central urban drop-off nodes (such as the Hongshan check-point). This option is highly suited for travelers carrying standard luggage who prefer not to navigate subway transfers.
3. Traditional Taxi Ranks and App-Based Ride-Hailing
For a direct door-to-door route to your hotel, follow the terminal signage to the designated Ground Transportation Center (GTC) taxi rank. Taxis operating within this queue run strictly via electronic meters. Alternatively, you can use domestic ride-hailing applications like Didi to secure a driver. App-based pick-up zones are located within the short-term parking structures connected to Terminal 4.
4. Pre-Booked Private Airport Transfer Services
If you prefer to eliminate transit wait times altogether, you can arrange private airport transfer services prior to arrival through international booking platforms like Trip.com airport tranfer. A professional driver will meet you directly at the Terminal 4 arrivals gate exit holding a customized name sign. They will assist with your luggage and provide a private, comfortable vehicle ride directly to your destination. This service operates 24/7, making it a reliable choice for late-night international arrivals or group travel.
5. On-Site Car Rental Options at Terminal 4
For travelers planning an extensive road trip across Xinjiang's vast scenic highways, global booking networks like Trip.com car rental (may not have xinjiang options yet, please check other cities) coordinate with prominent domestic car rental agencies (such as Ehi and China Auto Rental) operating directly at URC Airport. Dedicated rental service counters can be accessed near the Terminal 4 terminal hub or other spots (check car rental detailed pages).
Important Requirement: To rent and operate a self-drive vehicle in mainland China, foreign travelers generally need a valid passport, a registered credit card for a security deposit, and a valid Chinese Driving License (temporary driving permits can frequently be processed at municipal traffic hubs with an International Driving Permit and a certified translation of your home country's license).
Ürümqi Airport Arrival Procedures and Security Checkpoints
Security standards are exceptionally thorough at Ürümqi Tianshan International Airport. Travelers must allocate extra time to navigate the multiple check structures efficiently.
1.Pre-Terminal Security Screening: Allow 10 minutes.
Before walking into the main ticketing and check-in hall of Terminal 4, all travelers must pass through an initial baggage X-ray screening and identity verification check right at the outer building entrances.
2.Check-In and Baggage Drop: Allow 30–45 minutes.
Locate your operating airline's assigned check-in counter island. Ensure any liquids, knives, or restricted items are safely packed in your checked bags. Note that portable power banks cannot be checked and must remain in your carry-on luggage.
3.Security and Immigration Clearance: Allow 45–60 minutes.
Proceed through the main central security checkpoint. For international flights, you will clear customs and border protection gates before entering the gate security lines. Expect manual inspection of laptops, cameras, and external batteries.
4.Arrival and Luggage Claim: Allow 20–30 minutes.
Upon landing, follow the arrival pathways down to the lower baggage claim hall. For international arrivals, all checked bags must pass through a final customs luggage scan before you exit into the public arrivals greeting lounge.
Late-Night and Midnight Transportation from Ürümqi Airport
If your flight lands after midnight, public urban trains are no longer accessible, shifting transport options to the ground roads.
- Official Metered Taxis: Taxis run continuously 24/7. Follow the clear indoor signs to the designated Ground Transportation Center (GTC) taxi rank. Avoid independent, unofficial drivers soliciting flat rates in the arrivals corridor, as they frequently overcharge. Official queue taxis operate strictly by the taxi meter.
- Ride-Hailing Services: Apps like Didi operate normally across the airport property. Dedicated ride-hailing pickup points are clearly numbered and located within the short-term parking garages directly attached to Terminal 4.
Ürümqi Airport Terminal Facilities, Wi-Fi, and Amenities
Terminal 4 features an array of modern infrastructure built to accommodate long layovers and international transits comfortably.
- International Service Center: Positioned directly within the main Arrivals hall. This service counter assists foreign passport holders with purchasing local SIM cards, exchanging foreign currencies, and configuring mobile payment applications (like Alipay and WeChat Pay).
- Dining Options: The terminal hosts a diverse selection of international fast-food chains alongside authentic local Xinjiang restaurants serving standard regional specialties, such as hand-pulled noodles (Lagman) and baked mutton savory pies (Samsa).
- Device Charging & Wi-Fi: Power outlets and standard USB charging blocks are integrated directly into the seating rows across all departure gate lounges. Free airport Wi-Fi is accessible throughout Terminal 4; it requires a valid mobile number to receive a secure SMS registration code.

Hongshan Park/Nanhu Urumqi|1.48km from city center
The location is a bit out of the way, right next to a wholesale market. It's easy to get confused with two entrances; you need to use the uphill one at the back. It's an old five-star hotel, and indeed, it feels very dated. Both the room facilities and the restaurant's tableware show their age. The only service we really encountered was at the front desk during check-in and for parking validation; we didn't see much service otherwise. The Uyghur young man at the front desk spoke excellent Mandarin and processed our check-in very quickly. The in-room amenities were not kid-friendly at all; there were no children's slippers or toiletries. Although there was a wide variety of food, it wasn't refined at all, and we even found hair in it, which is completely unacceptable. We stayed in a suite, which was quite spacious. Fortunately, the hotel's price was significantly lower than the Conrad's, so we had to just put up with it. Parking was convenient, in an open-air lot.FromUS$43

🌟[A Super Five-Star Experience! Miramar Hotel Urumqi Completed Our Family Trip]🌟
It was my first time traveling with my parents to Urumqi, Xinjiang, and we chose the Miramar Hotel for a four-night stay. The experience far exceeded our expectations! My parents were raving about it the entire time! ✨
🏨[Safe and Private · Private Elevator]
The hotel features a private access control elevator system, requiring a card to access the floors, ensuring complete privacy and safety for guests! It's especially reassuring when traveling with elderly or children, without having to worry about unauthorized access.
📍[Prime Location · Perfect for Travel]
The location is incredible! Just a 10-minute taxi ride takes you to the Grand Bazaar (a must-see!), Hotan Street (a foodie paradise), and Consul Alley (an exotic destination). It's even right next to Urumqi's bustling clothing street! Evening strolls offer a true sense of the city's atmosphere, and my parents had a blast!
🍽️[Breakfast is Amazing! Heartwarming Service]
Breakfast! There are dozens of dishes, including Chinese, Western, and Xinjiang specialties. Yogurt pancakes, hand-pulled rice, and freshly brewed milk tea are all amazing! Even more touching was the restaurant manager, Mr. Wang! Seeing we were bringing our parents, he proactively helped us arrange meals, recommended easy-to-digest meals, and greeted us warmly every day. My parents praised us as ”feeling like having a new Xinjiang relative.” 😭
👉 The lunch buffet is also incredibly cost-effective, perfect for grabbing a meal when you're too lazy to go out. The beef and mutton are incredibly high quality!
🧹[Room Service - Perfect Details]
The housekeeper cleaned the room promptly and thoroughly every day, neatly folding towels and robes. She even helped put away my parents' skincare products. The room was always spotless, and fresh fruit and snacks were delivered to the room every day. 👍

The Xinjiang Museum/Youhao Road Urumqi|2.27km from city center
My biggest impression from this stay at the Conrad Urumqi was how effortless the entire trip felt. The hotel's location is incredibly convenient for getting around, whether it's for dining, shopping, or planning a day's itinerary. Upon returning, I could quickly switch into a calm and relaxed state. I really appreciate this balance of 'lively and serene.'
What truly stood out to me this time was the overall service at the hotel. The staff were all very enthusiastic and efficient. Any request was usually met and resolved quickly, and the service experience wasn't negatively impacted by a large number of guests.
During my stay, Kevin from the concierge team helped me many times. Whether it was retrieving and transporting luggage or later needing help with sending a package, he was very patient and handled everything with diligence and efficiency. He was always friendly and welcoming whenever we met, which made me feel very comfortable. While many of these tasks might seem small, having someone readily available to assist during a trip truly makes things much easier.
I also want to extend a big thank you to Russel. Since I had his WeChat contact from a previous stay, I primarily communicated with him directly for anything I needed during this visit. He always responded to messages promptly and diligently followed up on every matter, big or small. Any coordination or arrangements needed were handled perfectly, making the entire check-in process much smoother. This kind of service, where you can always reach someone and receive prompt, effective assistance, is a huge plus for guests.
Overall, my entire experience, from check-in to check-out, was very smooth. The hotel's facilities are high-quality, and the team's service is warm and efficient. I particularly want to thank Kevin and Russel for their help and care over the past few days, which added a wonderful lodging experience to my trip to Urumqi.FromUS$139

I've stayed at many hotels during my travels, but the front desk here truly made a great impression. They were quick to respond, pleasant to communicate with, and actively helped with any requests without making excuses, especially Rizliya and Nur, the supervisors. They significantly elevated the overall stay, and I highly recommend it. The breakfast was also quite good, and being on a high floor, it was very quiet. A flawless journey, thanks to the impeccable service at Haitong Five-Star Hotel – special thanks to Manager Zhao!
Choosing the Haitong Five-Star Hotel for my trip to Urumqi was, without a doubt, the best decision I made. The hotel exceeded my expectations in every aspect, from its hardware facilities to its software services. Manager Zhao at the front desk, in particular, provided incredibly attentive service that added immeasurable warmth and convenience to our entire trip. She absolutely deserves a special five-star review!
**I. Impeccable Location**
The hotel's location is truly outstanding. Situated in the bustling city center, it boasts excellent transport links. Whether you're heading to the Grand Bazaar, Red Hill Park, or the museum to experience historical culture, travel times are very short, significantly saving us time on the road. For both business travelers and tourists, this is a perfect starting point. The surrounding area has a vibrant commercial atmosphere, with large shopping centers, specialty restaurants, banks, and other amenities readily available. Even for an evening stroll to enjoy authentic local snacks, it's extremely convenient and safe.
**II. Excellent and Convenient Location & Transportation**
Speaking specifically about the hotel's location and transport, it's equally satisfying. The hotel entrance is grand and easy to spot. Right outside, there are bus stops and multiple taxi stands, so whether you plan to use public transport or easily hail a taxi, there's no waiting. For first-time visitors like us, Manager Zhao proactively provided a detailed city transportation guide upon check-in, patiently marking the best routes to major attractions. She even helped us book reliable taxis. This proactive and thoughtful consideration made us feel incredibly at ease.
**III. Elegant and Comfortable Interior Environment**
Stepping into the hotel, the interior environment immediately impressed. The lobby is spacious and bright, with elegant and tasteful decor that blends modern style with ethnic elements, instantly conveying a sense of high quality. The guest rooms are generously sized and well-laid out, with bright, clean windows. The bedding is soft and comfortable, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep until morning. The soundproofing is also excellent; despite being in the city center, the room remained tranquil, completely undisturbed by outside noise, guaranteeing a high-quality rest.
**IV. Spotless Hygiene**
The hotel's hygiene can be described as ”spotless.” From the public areas of the lobby to the guest rooms, strict management standards were evident everywhere. The floors gleamed, and the bathroom facilities sparkled clean, without any water stains or grime. The bed linen, duvet covers, and towels were white and soft, exuding a fresh, sun-kissed scent. Every time we returned to the room and saw our belongings neatly organized, it brought a special sense of comfort, demonstrating the meticulous and efficient work of the housekeeping team.
Finally, I must once again highlight Manager Zhao. From booking confirmation to check-in and check-out, she consistently provided professional, enthusiastic, and smiling service. Upon learning it was our first time in Urumqi, she proactively shared many local dining spots known only to residents and tips to avoid common tourist pitfalls. When we encountered a minor issue, she coordinated a solution immediately, with high efficiency and genuine sincerity, making us feel cared for and valued like family. This kind of above-and-beyond personalized service was fantastic. All in all, I would unhesitatingly recommend this hotel to all my friends. Next time I visit, this will definitely be my only choice!FromUS$41

I went to travel in southern Xinjiang and checked into this hotel when I arrived in Urumqi. Since I felt good, I stayed in this hotel again when I returned to Urumqi from southern Xinjiang. The hotel is in a good location, with convenient dining and shopping around. It is very close to the subway station. It costs 4 yuan to take 7 subway stops to the airport, which is very convenient. The hotel has free parking, which is convenient for self-driving. The hotel management is relatively standardized, the front desk staff has a good attitude, the room area is relatively large, and the hygiene is also good. Except that the shower door and the toilet door affect each other, everything else is fine. The hotel's breakfast is great, with a wide variety and good quality. There are fresh fruits and freshly ground coffee. The restaurant environment is clean and hygienic. The restaurant staff also pays attention to hygiene and has a good service attitude. I will definitely stay at Ruihao International Hotel when I come to Urumqi again.FromUS$54

We stayed at this hotel twice during our trip to Xinjiang, both upon arrival and before departure, experiencing different room types.
The rooms were very spacious, comfortable, and cozy, with unique decor. All amenities were complete, including an excellent humidifier. Every detail was meticulously taken care of. The cleanliness was impeccable. They even thoughtfully provided some special Xinjiang snacks. The overall experience was superb!
Every staff member at the hotel was incredibly friendly and helpful. They responded promptly to any issues and resolved them diligently. They were very understanding and positive when guests had special requests, showing great humanity. A sincere thank you to them!
The buffet breakfast offered a rich variety of dishes, especially the distinctive savory milk tea and yogurt, both of which were delicious.
We also ordered lunch from the hotel's 3rd-floor restaurant, which was delivered directly to our room via a food cart. This allowed us to enjoy specialty cuisine without leaving our room. The stewed lamb chops were incredibly tender and fragrant, with no hint of ***** taste, and perfectly complemented by vegetables like radish and corn, making it nutritious and delicious. The broth was light and had a subtle sweetness – I ended up having two large bowls! The king oyster mushroom and beef tenderloin was a generous portion, and my daughter and I nearly finished it all. Other specialties like stir-fried eggs with saussurea were also very tasty. Unfortunately, my family had some inflammation and sore throats, so we didn't dare order spicy dishes and missed the chance to try specialties like the 'Lao Gong Ji' (husband chicken). Next time we visit, I'll definitely come back to try other signature dishes.
The 'Ma Jia Yuan' restaurant on the first floor served excellent beef knife-cut noodles and clear broth beef noodles. The noodles were smooth and springy, and the broth was rich. The environment was spacious and clean, with various small side dishes. The complimentary health tea was also very good.
The hotel's facilities were also comprehensive, with a gym and laundry room on the third floor.
The hotel's location is excellent, right next to Baoneng City and just a few minutes' walk from Wanda Plaza. The surrounding area is very convenient, with mini-marts, restaurants, dessert shops, bubble tea places, and even local specialty stores. There's also a lively night market in the evenings. However, the hotel itself has excellent soundproofing, and the night market isn't directly downstairs, so the hotel and rooms remained very quiet and peaceful.FromUS$50

The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area. It's close to the Urumqi Museum in Xinjiang, within walking distance. The room window is fixed and cannot be opened; the only noise throughout the night is the sound of fresh air being circulated. This is probably due to security concerns for higher floors. Urumqi has been experiencing high temperatures these past few days, so the air conditioning wasn't working properly. In the long river of time, travel is like a bright star, embellishing our ordinary life. And every perfect trip is inseparable from an excellent hotel, which is like a warm harbor on the journey, giving us physical and mental comfort. Recently, I had the honor of encountering an excellent hotel-Xinjiang Zunemao Yindu Hotel, which added a touch of brilliant color to my journey and left indelible beautiful memories.
When I arrived at the hotel with a tired body, the first thing that caught my eye was the hotel's magnificent and unique architectural appearance. It cleverly combines modern and traditional elements, showing a fashionable atmosphere without losing cultural heritage. Entering the hotel lobby, the luxury and atmosphere instantly make people fall in love with it. The high ceiling is hung with dazzling crystal chandeliers, like twinkling stars, illuminating the entire space. The floor is paved with mirror-like marble, reflecting everything around, creating a dreamy atmosphere. In the center of the lobby is a group of exquisite sofas, soft and comfortable, as if opening a warm embrace to every tired traveler.
The front desk staff greeted me with an extremely warm smile. Their service was professional and efficient, and they quickly checked me in. Manager Ma Tao also carefully introduced the hotel's facilities and services to me, which made me look forward to the upcoming stay.
After getting the room card, I couldn't wait to go to the room. The moment I opened the door, a fresh fragrance came to my face, instantly dispelling my travel fatigue. The layout of the room is warm and elegant, and every detail shows the hotel's care and quality. The spacious space is reasonably laid out and the lighting is excellent. The sun shines through the window onto the soft carpet, forming patches of warm light. The oversized bed is simply synonymous with comfort. The mattress has just the right hardness, which not only gives the body enough support, but also makes people feel as if they are lying on clouds. The bedding is made of high-quality fabrics, which are delicate to the touch, skin-friendly and breathable, allowing me to enjoy the ultimate sleep experience every night.
The facilities in the room are all available, and they are all carefully selected high-end brands. The HD smart TV has clear pictures and bright colors, allowing me to enjoy the audio-visual feast in my spare time. The free high-speed wireless network signal is stable, whether it is browsing the web, watching videos or video calls with family and friends, there is no lag. The setting of the safe allows me to store valuables without any worries.
The design of the bathroom is even more eye-catching. The spacious and bright space is equipped with a luxurious bathtub and a separate shower room to meet my different bathing needs. The washbasin is neatly arranged with toiletries of high quality, from shampoo, shower gel to toothpaste and toothbrush, each exudes a faint fragrance. Moreover, the cleaning work of the bathroom is done very well, spotless, making people feel extremely comfortable and assured.
Speaking of the hotel's catering, it makes me praise it even more. The variety of breakfast is dazzling, from Chinese soy milk, whistle noodles, buns, to Western bread, breakfast sausage, tomato baked beans, everything is available. There are also a variety of fresh fruits, vegetable salads and exquisite pastries, with balanced nutrition, which greatly increases people's appetite. The restaurant has an elegant and peaceful environment, and the waiters are warm and thoughtful, always able to meet the needs of guests at the first time. They will add drinks to guests in time and clean the table, making people feel meticulous care.
The hotel's Chinese restaurant also left a deep impression on me. The chefs here are skilled and can perfectly combine local specialty ingredients with traditional cooking methods to create delicious dishes. Whether it is the fresh and spicy Sichuan cuisine or the light and delicious Cantonese cuisine, every dish is delicious and memorable. The Western restaurant is full of romantic atmosphere, with swaying candlelight and melodious music. The dishes combine the flavors of various countries, from classic French steak to Chinese hot pot, every bite can bring me a new taste enjoyment.
The hotel's location is also very advantageous. It is located in the bustling area of the city center, with convenient transportation around it. It is close to the subway station and bus station, which is convenient for me to travel. Moreover, there are many shopping malls, supermarkets and restaurants around the hotel, so I can easily meet my shopping and food needs. At the same time, the hotel is not far from the famous local attractions, and I can easily visit various attractions and feel the unique charm of this city.
In short, I am extremely satisfied with my stay at Xinjiang Luxemon Yindu Hotel. It not only provides me with comfortable accommodation, delicious food and rich entertainment facilities, but also makes me feel the warmth and care of home. I believe that in future trips, I will definitely choose this hotel again and will not hesitate to recommend it to my friends.
