Also known as "The Land of the Gods", Bali is a breathtaking Indonesian island. Not only does it have beautiful beaches, but it also has lush rainforests. It's easy to see why so many people book vacations to Bali.
You might want to go for a tropical getaway yourself - but to do that, you'll need to find out what the travel restrictions are. And if you're eligible to visit, we've got great suggestions for your trip!
Travel Restrictions for Bali
The good news is all foreign passport holders are allowed to visit Bali. They're also allowed to fly in directly! You must be fully vaccinated to visit, as well as any children you're bringing that are older than 12. Children under 12 must show a negative PCR test. If you've had a single-dose vaccine, you must quarantine for 2 days longer (more information below).
As of February 14, 2022, Indonesia is planning on relaxing its COVID-19 restrictions. From February 21 onward, all people flying into the country will need to quarantine for 3 days instead of 5, given that they've had their booster shot. There are 5 hotels available for quarantine.
PCR testing requirements will stay the same as before. Incoming travelers will need to have a negative PCR test that's no older than 48 hours and was taken before departure.
Make sure you take out medical insurance that covers COVID-related expenses, as it's mandatory. The minimum coverage needed is $30,000. You also need proof of booking and paying for mandatory quarantine accommodations.
Indonesia is also considering lifting all quarantine requirements for incoming travelers in April.
Transportation in Bali
There are flights to Bali, although only 2 airlines are serving travelers with direct flights so far. Singapore Airlines will start daily flights to Bali from February 16 and Garuda Indonesia is providing flights between Japan and Bali.
If you want to fly in from places outside of these airlines' reach, then you'll have to make transfers. There are some airlines that may start offering flights into Bali, but these flights can be canceled if there aren't enough bookings.
The only airport in Bali is Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, which is where you'll be flying into.
Once you arrive, the best transportation method here is by hiring a car and driver. Driving on your own isn't recommended because there's lots of traffic and bad drivers on the road. Otherwise, for short trips, consider renting a bike.
Attractions and Activities in Bali
You can always choose to just relax in your hotel room and soak in the sights from there. But if you want to explore Bali, here are some attractions and activities you shouldn't miss out on.
Ubud Palace
Ubud Palace was constructed in the early 1800s, which gives you a glimpse into life in Bali centuries ago. But that's not all; you'll get to see a grand palace and admire Balinese architecture.
In addition, there are plenty of beautiful gardens with lush plants and flowers surrounding Ubud Palace. And inside Puri Saren Agung (the building complex), there are many cultural dance evenings you can witness.
Bali Swing
If you're adventurous, then don't miss out on the Bali Swing. This is one of the top attractions in Bali and gives you a unique view of the dense vegetation in the area.
Climb onto a rope and wood swing and kick your legs to get your blood pumping. Have someone ready to take plenty of photos, which will definitely be Instagram-worthy.
Tanah Lot Temple
Just seeing a temple can be a wondrous thing, as you're looking at what people from centuries ago built. But Tanah Lot Temple is even more spectacular, as it's built on a stunning shoreline.
This temple is located in the village of Beraban. Not only can you visit Tanah Lot Temple itself, but you can also go to the cultural park. Here, you can view traditional dance performances.
Make sure you stick around for the sunset, as it creates a magical experience you won't get anywhere else.
Jimbaran Beach
Jimbaran Beach is the very definition of paradise. There's soft white sand to lie on, and clear and calm blue waters to swim in. You can even surf if you wish. It's perfect for a nice family day out!
There are many beachside cafes where you can fill your belly with fresh grilled seafood. Grab a seat and have dinner while the sun sets for a romantic meal.
