Major JR Pass Tokyo Routes
There is a special JR Pass in Tokyo, known as the "JR Tokyo Wide Pass", which allows unlimited travel on JR East trains within a designated 3-day period, including in Tokyo and its surrounding areas. Coupled with the JR Pass, you can quickly, conveniently, and affordably shuttle around downtown Tokyo and nearby airports.
From Narita Airport to and from Tokyo Station
You can use the JR Narita Express (abbreviated as N'EX) to directly reach Tokyo Station from Narita Airport. The N'EX is a rapid train service specifically connecting Narita Airport with major stations in downtown Tokyo, including Tokyo Station. Using the JR Pass, the journey from Narita Airport to Tokyo Station takes about 53 minutes.
From Haneda Airport to and from Tokyo Station
Haneda Airport does not have a direct JR line, but you can take the Tokyo Monorail to Hamamatsucho Station and then switch to the JR Yamanote Line or the Keihin-Tohoku Line to reach Tokyo Station. The entire journey takes about 30 minutes. Please note that the Tokyo Monorail is not included in the JR Pass, but if you hold a JR Tokyo Wide Pass, you can ride for free.
From Haneda Airport to and from Narita Airport
This route requires you to first take the Tokyo Monorail from Haneda Airport to Hamamatsucho Station, then change to the JR Yamanote Line or the Keihin-Tohoku Line to reach Tokyo Station. At Tokyo Station, you need to switch to the Narita Express N'EX to directly reach Narita Airport. The entire journey involves multiple transfers, but if you hold a JR Pass or JR Tokyo Wide Pass, you can ride all JR trains except for the Tokyo Monorail for free. The entire journey takes about 90 minutes.
