If your suitcase is on the larger side, head to the JR East Travel Service Center inside Tokyo Station and use the staffed counter to store oversized luggage during business hours (8:30 AM–7:00 PM). Storing regular small items costs about 500–800 yen per item per day, while large items run 800–1,200 yen. Note that overnight storage isn’t available here, so plan to pick up your bags no later than 30 minutes before closing time.

Tokyo Station Staffed Baggage Storage #2 GRANSTA

If you need overnight storage, we highly recommend GRANSTA Luggage Storage, located in the GRANSTA shopping area. It’s open daily from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM, and you can store your luggage for up to 15 days! The fee is 1,400 yen per item. Since there are only 50 storage spots, we suggest reserving your space online in advance.

Tokyo Station Staffed Luggage Storage #3 — Sagawa Express TOKYO SERVICE CENTER

Sagawa Express TOKYO SERVICE CENTER is arguably the best bang-for-your-buck luggage storage option near Tokyo Station. It’s open from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and storing standard luggage costs just 800 yen per day. 2. After inserting the required amount, turn the key to lock it.
3. Keep the key safe—you’ll need this key to open the locker when you pick up your luggage.

IC card-operated lockers

1. Find an empty locker that fits your luggage and shows a green light, then place your luggage inside.
2. Jot down your locker number, then head to the nearby smart screen and enter your locker number. Pay by tapping your IC card (some machines also accept cash; after payment, a password receipt will be printed—be sure to keep it safe).
3. To retrieve your luggage, simply tap the same IC card again. If you have a password receipt, please enter the password on the smart screen.

Luggage Storage at Tokyo Station #1: Tokyo Metro Station

At Tokyo Station’s Marunouchi Line Central Exit and North Exit, you’ll find several coin-operated lockers. Most lockers here are small, with limited medium and large-sized options.

Tokyo Station Luggage Storage #2 JR Tokyo Station

Outside the JR Tokyo Station ticket gates, there are nearly 2,000 lockers. If you’re traveling with large luggage, head to the Yaesu Underground Central Gate—there are about 80 extra-large lockers in this area. Inside the JR Tokyo Station ticket gates, you’ll also find close to 3,000 locker spaces; in particular, the Sobu Line transfer passage alone has nearly 1,800 spaces. Note that most lockers here are key-operated and coin-only, so be sure to have some change ready.

Shinjuku Station Luggage Storage #1 Shinjuku Subway Station

Shinjuku subway station doesn’t have many lockers—most are clustered near the east-side ticket gates. There are about 170 storage spaces in total, and only 3 extra-large luggage lockers.

If you need extra-large luggage storage, head to the area near Platform 17 inside the Central Ticket Gate. There are nearly 40 extra-large luggage lockers there.
