Likely one of the best hotels in Suzhou. Beautiful garden at the back and great atmosphere. However, I do have some complaints. First, the room given to me is facing directly in front of the pool. So it was very noisy all day long from the kids. The room was also very dark. Next, the laundry is a huge problem. There were too many people using the very few washer and dryers in the hotel. The dryer was not effective and the cloth remained wet after 3 hours. It was a terrible experience. I also have to complain about a young man working at the front. I asked him where the laundry room was and he completely ignored me and started to flirt with a young female staff. This was really really unprofessional. Unfortunately not much is expected to be done about this. If there is anything else to add, then please provide some sanitizing wet wipes for the gym. The benches were not sanitized at all between usage.FromUS$58

My partner and I specifically chose this Shangri-La hotel for our short getaway to Suzhou, and we have absolutely no regrets. The room was spacious and comfortable, with excellent soundproofing, providing a truly tranquil and relaxing environment. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options, balancing both sweet and savory, making for a fantastic dining experience. In our free time, we drove to Jinji Lake for a walk, and the clear lake views were incredibly therapeutic. I must commend Tina, one of the staff members, for her professional and warm service. She consistently anticipated our needs and handled everything with meticulous care. The hotel's heated pool and relaxation areas are well-maintained, and the cozy atmosphere combined with the attentive service made our trip together incredibly joyful.FromUS$71

This hotel is perfectly located on a main road in Suzhou, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. If you're driving, there's free underground parking, though you'll need to get a voucher from the front desk each time you leave. Pingjiang Road is right behind the hotel, just a few minutes' walk through the alleyways. Wyndham is a well-established five-star brand, and while the decor might be a bit dated, the hotel still maintains an impressive scale and elegance. You can tell the staff put a lot of effort into its upkeep. The rooms are quite spacious and clean, and the front desk staff are friendly. I was very satisfied with my stay. Stayed for two nights with my daughter for a concert. The hotel was excellent, right near Suzhou Center. The service was fantastic – they even noticed our gym clothes hanging to dry and brought over a drying rack, then helped us hang them up! The breakfast spread was very rich, and the afternoon tea and happy hour offerings at the executive lounge were exquisite. The gym and pool on the 27th floor offer great views. All in all, it's great value for money, and I'll definitely stay here again if I get the chance.FromUS$76

Came to Suzhou for a concert during the May Day holiday and brought the kids and my parents along for a trip. The hotel is just a few steps from the subway station. You need to transfer to get to the Olympic Sports Center, but it's very convenient, only about three stops in total. The three-bedroom suite we booked this time was perfect for a large family like ours. It also has three bathrooms and a large double-door refrigerator. However, someone had put durian in the fridge before, and it smelled awful, making it unusable for us. I hope the hotel can do a better job with cleaning and deodorizing! There's an oven, microwave, and induction hob, but no pots or pans were provided. Does that mean they expect guests to cook or not? We didn't need to cook, but it just felt a bit confusing. There are restaurants and convenience stores right across from the hotel.FromUS$89

The hotel boasts beautiful scenery, making it perfect for a vacation. We arrived quite late on the first night, but check-in was seamless. Our butlers, Cindy and Yoyo, were incredibly enthusiastic and helpful, and the shuttle service was always prompt. Breakfast was abundant; my only minor suggestion would be to improve the coffee beans. The staff in the activity room were also excellent, always responsive to our needs.
The room itself was spacious. We had a three-bedroom villa, and both the living areas and bedrooms were huge. It could easily accommodate three families for a home party. Outside, there's a private pool and a hot tub, which unfortunately we didn't get to use this time, but I'd definitely like to try them on a future visit.FromUS$233

It's probably been twenty years since I last stayed at Nanlin, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Garden Wing is still incredibly well-maintained.
The garden landscaping from the Mountain & Water Wing to the Garden Wing has become even more beautiful. In the morning, they even had mist spraying, creating a truly ethereal atmosphere.
A big thank you to Miss Wang Qin at the front desk yesterday for the upgrade, allowing me to try the pulsating massage bed – it was very comfortable. And just a little secret: friends with constipation should really try their colonic hydrotherapy; you'll come back to thank me.
Breakfast was good. The spicy and sour soup (Hula Tang) was fragrant, and initially not spicy, but adding a tiny bit of vinegar made it incredibly savory. The noodles in the red soup noodles were excellent, and today's stir-fried bamboo shoots and pork in the topping were very fresh. The goose meat, however, was a bit mediocre in some parts, and a few pieces were hard to distinguish between goose and braised pork.
Nanlin's location speaks for itself; it's surrounded by attractions and delicious food. Back in the nineties when I first started working, the intersection where the Avon direct sales store used to be (Shiquan Street and Fenghuang Road) was already lively. Later, with the opening of Tongdexing and various small shops, it just got more and more bustling.
Finally, the reason I first stayed at Nanlin many years ago was after reading Lu Wenfu's 'The Gourmet.' Those who know, know. He was one of the people who changed my perceptions and lifestyle.FromUS$45

The hotel was located at the lake with an amazing view. The rooms was really nice and super clean and the mattress was really comfortable to sleep very well. The facility of the hotel was nice and very stylish, all in white and modern. The hotel was really lovely. The only thing that is really not good organised, there is no food except breakfast and afternoon tea (in that case fruits). We needed to order from a delivery service (only Chinese food available and it's was not really good). This hotel has been around for a long time. I visited about a decade and a half ago, and back then, it felt very serene and secluded. However, I've noticed significant changes this time. It's clear they've kept up with the times, putting a lot of effort into various aspects like the environment, attention to detail, value-added services, and marketing. Overall, I found it to be pretty good value for money.
While the facilities aren't as new as those in recently built hotels, the rooms are completely free of any strange or musty smells, and the location is excellent. The hot spring pools are conveniently clustered together, making it perfect for families with children and seniors. My only slight disappointment was that the 'fish spa' pool didn't actually have any fish. The name ”Xiangxuehai” felt familiar to me, as it was a household name for a domestic refrigerator brand in the early days. This Xiangxuehai Hotel in Suzhou shares the same origins as the refrigerator brand, making it a well-established local brand. Based on my trust in old brands, I chose Xiangxuehai Hotel for my trip to Suzhou. The soundproofing at the hotel was surprisingly good; I slept soundly until morning. Getting around was also convenient, with a bus stop right next to the hotel, making it easy to visit attractions. For those driving, the hotel has a large parking lot, and you just need to show your room card to enter and exit. Even the security guards were very welcoming.
The floor we stayed on was newly renovated, with a simple yet practical design. I especially want to praise the bathroom facilities; the smart toilet was convenient, and the showerhead was the best and most comfortable I've ever used, with strong water pressure. The hotel was very thoughtful; the air conditioning was already on when we checked in, and the room was impeccably clean—I couldn't find a single flaw. Every detail reflected the hotel's professional management, and the room rate wasn't expensive, offering excellent value for money!
On the first day, we received dining vouchers and ate on the hotel's second floor. All the dishes we ordered were delicious and reasonably priced. It saved a lot of time to eat there and then head back to the room. We originally planned to stay for just one day, but since everyone was so satisfied with the hotel's dining and accommodation, and all the front desk staff were excellent, proactively introducing nearby attractions and travel routes, everyone wanted to extend our stay, haha. I'll definitely recommend this place to friends next time.FromUS$32

The environment is great, and the facilities are comprehensive. It seems to be an apartment hotel with a history and a good reputation. It's a one-bedroom, one-living room unit with a bathtub. You have to stand in the tub to shower, which I'm not used to – it's a bit narrow and inconvenient. I'm more accustomed to a dedicated shower box. The bedroom and living room are separated by sliding doors. There's no space for nightstands on either side of the large bed, which I also found inconvenient (although you can put things on the headboard). My feet kept hitting the sliding door when getting out of bed, which was annoying.

Facilities: The baby toys in the family room were well-designed, and the space was just right. The bathroom was spacious, allowing for plenty of movement. The only drawback was that the square table in the room was too large, making it unsafe for babies who might easily bump into its corners.
Cleanliness: Clean and hygienic.
Environment: The environment was elegant, with many shopping malls nearby. Located at the intersection of Metro Lines 1 and 8, dining and transportation were very convenient. It was about a ten-minute walk to Jinji Lake.

The facilities show their age, but they're well-maintained and quite clean. The surroundings boast a lake view with a large lawn and a lakeside boardwalk below, which would be lovely in spring and autumn. However, it's hard to spend extended time outdoors during summer. The hotel is located in the heart of Gusu District's old city, making it incredibly convenient to get to Hanshan Temple and Shantang Street by taxi. I was pleasantly surprised to find that booking a room even came with complimentary tickets to Hanshan Temple!
The lobby incorporates traditional Jiangnan design, and the charming Suzhou-style garden on the first floor is perfect for photos. 1. The hotel service was quite good. There were two bottles of water in the room, but only one box of tissues on the vanity. When I called for more water or tissues, they were delivered to the room very quickly. Early check-in and late check-out requests were also accommodated. The front desk staff, both ladies and gentlemen, were all smiling, friendly, and gentle with guests, especially the tall, fair-skinned young man whose name I don't know, but he was very patient.
2. The hotel room facilities were very simple, with 1990s decor. For over 1200 RMB a night, there was no smart technology at all. The curtains had to be pulled manually, and I found the back of the blackout curtains covered in dust.
3. For a room costing over 1200 RMB a night, the coffee provided was terrible. After brewing with hot water, it was impossible to swallow, tasting like coal ash water. I ended up pouring it all out.
4. The hygiene was acceptable at first glance, but couldn't withstand closer inspection. I used alcohol wipes to clean everything myself. The welcome snacks should ideally be packaged; without packaging, they're prone to dust, and you don't know how many hands have touched them. In any case, I didn't dare to eat them and threw them in the trash.
5. The location is decent, and the hotel is very quiet at night. Directly opposite the hotel are a Starbucks and a FamilyMart, which are convenient for breakfast and coffee. It's also close to a bookstore. The area around the hotel is full of shopping malls and office buildings, making shopping and dining very convenient, and the environment is relatively clean.
6. I suggest the hotel upgrade its room facilities and invest appropriately to be more genuine with guests, otherwise, it'll just be a one-time business. There were only a few items in the mini-fridge, yet they still wanted a deposit when I checked in, even though a guarantee had already been collected by Trip.com. I thought there would be some expensive liquor in the mini-fridge, but to charge a deposit for these cheap items is really low-class.
7. I recommend adding a small soap dish and a towel basket to the vanity. There was nowhere to put the soap, and nowhere for used towels. Also, provide a bath liner. These are basic necessities. And please put a tissue box on the bedside table; having only one box on the vanity means constantly moving it around. It's truly frustrating!
8. My review is objective and factual! I won't even mention the worse aspects. Business is tough these days. I wish Shangri-La Hotel prosperous business and that it becomes more like a five-star hotel!FromUS$104

1. **Great Location**: It's right outside Exit 5 of Metro Line 1. It's only 3 km from the Sports Center Stadium, so even after watching a 'Super League' match, it's less than an hour's walk back. Plus, it's right next to Suzhou Museum West, Shishan Grand Theatre, Shishan Park sunken plaza, Golden Eagle shopping mall, and Longfor Tianjie, making it super convenient for sightseeing, dining, and shopping.
