PacolongshaoMy parents brought their grandchildren to Macau Peninsula, and they wanted a hotel that offered shopping, dining, and easy access to UNESCO World Heritage sites. Grand Emperor Hotel Macau was undoubtedly a highly cost-effective choice. The hotel is situated in the heart of Avenida Comercial, boasting a grand and striking European palace-style exterior, with its crown emblem being instantly recognizable.
The hotel's location is its biggest asset. It's right next to New Yaohan Department Store, making shopping and buying souvenirs incredibly convenient. Within about a ten-minute walk, you can reach the shopping landmark of Senado Square (Sena Square). Grand Lisboa and Wynn Macau are also just a stone's throw away.
Objectively, the hotel has been open for a while, so some facilities show signs of age, and the decor is quite traditional. During peak times, the breakfast area can get crowded. However, these minor drawbacks don't overshadow its advantages. Its irreplaceable central location on the peninsula perfectly balances comfortable accommodation with excellent travel convenience.

Ningmeng-lemon-shuQuiet, casino-free, and sleep-friendly. This hotel doesn't have a casino, so there's no noisy crowds, smoke, or loud background music. It's a top choice for those who dislike casino atmospheres, families with children, business travelers, and early sleepers. The guest rooms consistently receive excellent reviews for soundproofing.

Guest UserThe environment is great, and the room is very clean, hygienic, and comfortable. It's fully equipped, even the toothpaste and toothbrushes are of good quality, and there are spare hangers. There's no strange smell in the room, and the windows are sparkling clean and bright. The lighting is good. It also has a security door and excellent Wi-Fi, plus a carpet.

It was our anniversary and Gary at reception offered us a lte check out since we arrived at the hotel quite late. We were also upgraded together with a free red wine as our gift and we were thrilled and we were further offered 2 complimentary breakfast althought we didn't use att the end. I found out that I didn't take my airpods with me at the time when I checked out and we went to lunch. I came back and then 2 receptionists helped me out and called the room to bring it back down even after checkout, I m so pleased by the services Ascott provided me and to us.
Thank you very much and I will for sure come again.
Btw the room we stayed was really nice spacious and comfortable.

ZuizuihoudemeihaoaThe room was quite spacious, and there were plenty of power outlets, which was very convenient as no adapters were needed. The hotel staff were all very enthusiastic and helpful. The location is excellent, just a short distance from the Grand Lisboa. We took a shuttle from Grand Lisboa Palace, where we had dinner and shopped, then caught another shuttle to Grand Lisboa, and it was just a 5-minute walk to the Metropark Hotel. There are restaurants next to the hotel, and on Rua de Outubro, behind the hotel, there's a bus that goes directly to the Border Gate, making transportation very convenient. It's also a leisurely 10-15 minute walk to the Ruins of St. Paul's. I haven't included internal photos as they are quite standard; the exterior shots provided were taken from inside the room, offering a wide, open view. The complimentary bottled water was a bit too small.

MeixiaimoliI had two separate bookings and forgot to request rooms on the same floor. The front desk staff were incredibly patient and helped me adjust the booking so we could be on the same floor. Our original check-in time was 3 PM, but we arrived at 2 PM, and they kindly allowed us to check in early. My kids even got to take a 1-hour nap at the hotel, which we really appreciated. The room was spacious, and the hotel's location is excellent. I'll definitely choose Hotel Rio again on my next trip to Macau.

DadadetuzixmThe room was very spacious and even had a bathtub, which the kids loved. It's really close to the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, making it super convenient to get to The Venetian, then head to The Parisian for photos of the Eiffel Tower, hit The Londoner for some Instagram-worthy shots, walk to Rua do Cunha for snacks, visit the Taipa Houses Museum for more photos, and finally, take the cable car at Wynn Palace in the evening to see the night view. Plus, you can catch a free shuttle from the StarWorld Hotel across the street! We had some rain this trip and missed out on a few sights, so we'll definitely have to come back again!

Anonymous UserThe hotel is located on a slope, so getting up and down is very steep and would be quite difficult for anyone with mobility issues. The bus stop is close to the hotel, but again, the climb is challenging. The room was spacious, and I was pleased to find an iron and ironing board. The hotel has a cozy, Portuguese style. There's a small pool, which the kids enjoyed. Breakfast was modest, with coffee in a thermos, but you won't go hungry. We walked to the sea to swim but decided against going in. The water was very murky, and there were dead fish floating around. Only a couple of Chinese tourists were on the beach. Housekeeping was very poor; all the towels and bedding should be replaced. Everything was old and worn out, and the duvet covers were synthetic. There was mold in the bathroom. And the icing on the cake – a huge, 5cm cockroach ran in and scared the children.

DerrickChong0613The hotel is within walking distance of the Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, which takes around 15–20 minutes even with luggage. There’s also a nearby public bus stop that provides convenient access to the Cotai area. The housekeeping staff were friendly as well.
Overall, the stay was good, although the design feels a bit old-school. The in-house casino has also ceased operations since November 2025.

Guest UserI found this hotel to be very old and run down; besides the location, everything else was surprisingly bad. I won't be staying here again. The room had a strange odor when I entered, and I suspect it was from previous Indian guests. The bathroom also smelled terrible, and the overall hygiene was very poor. After sleeping on the sheets, my body kept itching. When I checked out, I realized I had forgotten my facial cleanser in the bathroom, but when I contacted the hotel, they claimed they didn't find it, even though it was clearly there. I will never patronize this brand again; this hotel completely ruined its reputation for me.
