Chongqing Weather at a Glance

Chongqing Weather at a Glance

Chongqing is warm for most of the year and punishing for two months of it. July and August average highs of 33 to 34°C with humidity that makes them feel worse, and the city has recorded above 42°C in recent years, so those two months are best avoided unless you are heading for the mountains. Autumn is the pick of the year, winter is mild but damp, and sunshine is scarce in almost every month.

  • Best months: late September to November, then March to May
  • Hottest: July and August, peaking above 42°C
  • Coldest: January, averaging 8.1°C, snow rare
  • Wettest: June, around 212 mm
  • Humidity and light: 70 to 84 per cent year-round, about 983 sunshine hours a year
  • Fog: roughly 100 days a year, mostly November to February

Best Time to Visit Chongqing - Weather by Month

Two patterns are worth carrying with you: the city gets progressively hotter and rainier from March to August, then cools sharply through October and November, and the sunshine figures bear almost no relationship to how pleasant a month is.

January in Chongqing

TemperaturePrecipitationSunlight
🌡️ 6°C to 10°C
Feels like: 4°C to 8°C
🌧️ 20mm over 9 days
🌫️ Dense river fog
☀️ 1-2 hours daily
🌇 6:10pm sunsets

January is Chongqing's coldest month, yet temperatures almost never fall below freezing in the city itself. This is peak season for Chongqing's famous fog: thick mist rolls off the Yangtze and Jialing rivers and can swallow the skyscrapers along the banks until late morning, giving the city its long-standing nickname of the Fog Capital.

The cold here is a damp, penetrating chill rather than a dry freeze, so buildings without central heating often feel colder than the thermometer suggests. Crowds are at their lightest of the year, which means short queues for the Yangtze River Cableway, empty lanes in Ciqikou Old Town, and a front-row seat for the night lights of Hongya Cave.

Thermal base layers and a waterproof shell matter more than a heavy coat in Chongqing's damp cold, and shoes with grip are essential for the city's stone staircases when they are wet. Fog can delay river cruises and cableway rides, so keep morning plans flexible. A bubbling hot pot is the local answer to January weather, and indoor stops such as the Three Gorges Museum and the wartime sites of Shapingba fill a foggy afternoon perfectly.

February in Chongqing

TemperaturePrecipitationSunlight
🌡️ 7°C to 12°C
Feels like: 5°C to 10°C
🌧️ 22mm over 9 days
🌦️ First spring drizzle
☀️ 2 hours daily
🌇 6:35pm sunsets

February loosens winter's grip only slightly, with bright, mild afternoons appearing more often toward the end of the month. Chinese New Year frequently falls in February, when the whole city turns red with lanterns: Hongya Cave glows for the holiday, Jiefangbei fills with shoppers, and the Yangtze embankments host fireworks.

Spring announcements arrive quietly - plum blossoms open in Eling Park, early camellias appear on the Nanshan hills, and the tea houses around Ciqikou come back to life. The holiday also reshuffles the city: many family-run hot pot restaurants and small noodle shops close for up to a week, while museums and shopping districts stay open.

If you travel during Chinese New Year, book hotels and intercity trains weeks ahead, and expect some favourite restaurants to be shut for the holiday. The evening lights along the two rivers are the highlight of a February visit, so plan a night walk from Chaotianmen to Hongya Cave. Fog still rules the mornings, and the mist usually lifts by early afternoon, making later starts the smarter choice.

March in Chongqing

TemperaturePrecipitationSunlight
🌡️ 11°C to 17°C
Feels like: 9°C to 15°C
🌧️ 37mm over 12 days
🌦️ Light night rain
☀️ 2-3 hours daily
🌇 7:00pm sunsets

March is Chongqing's gentlest month: temperatures climb into the mid-teens, the hillsides turn green, and the city re-emerges from its foggy hibernation. This is the season of night rain, the drizzle that falls after dark and leaves the mornings washed and quiet - the very weather that inspired centuries of poetry about the mountains around the Sichuan Basin.

Blossom chasers head out of town: rapeseed fields turn the districts around Tongnan and Nanchuan gold, while peach and cherry blossom line the slopes of Nanshan. Warmer days make the old town of Ciqikou, the riverside boardwalks and the slow cableway ride across the Yangtze genuinely pleasant again.

Pack a compact umbrella and shoes with good grip, because March rain makes Chongqing's steep stone lanes and stairways slick. Mornings are the best time for viewpoint stops such as the Nanshan One Tree platform before the haze builds. If you have a spare day, the rapeseed fields and tea terraces outside the city are at their peak in mid to late March.

April in Chongqing

TemperaturePrecipitationSunlight
🌡️ 16°C to 22°C
Feels like: 15°C to 21°C
🌧️ 100mm over 15 days
🌧️ Steady spring rains
☀️ 3-4 hours daily
🌇 7:25pm sunsets

April is one of the wettest months of the Chongqing year, with soft, persistent rain that keeps the surrounding karst hills a deep, saturated green. Between showers the air is fresh and the temperature sits in the comfortable low twenties, ideal for walking the city's layered streets, bridges and escalators.

Qingming Festival in early April brings families out to the hills for tomb-sweeping and spring outings, and day trips to Wulong's Three Natural Bridges or the Dazu rock carvings are at their most atmospheric now, with mist drifting between the limestone arches and cliffs.

Waterproof footwear and a light rain jacket are worth the luggage space, because April showers arrive without much warning and the city's famous multi-level streets are unforgiving when wet. Rain is also a gift for photography: Hongya Cave's lights reflect off the wet pavements, and the rivers exchange their usual haze for moody low cloud.

May in Chongqing

TemperaturePrecipitationSunlight
🌡️ 20°C to 26°C
Feels like: 21°C to 28°C
🌧️ 145mm over 16 days
⛈️ Afternoon thunderstorms
☀️ 4-5 hours daily
🌇 7:50pm sunsets

May is the last genuinely comfortable month before Chongqing's furnace summer arrives. Days are warm and humid, greenery is at its densest, and the long evenings stretch past eight o'clock, perfect for night views from the Nanshan hills or a slow drink on a rooftop above the Jialing River.

The month also brings the year's first heavy thunderstorms, brief but dramatic downpours that clear the air and send water sheeting down the city's staircases. Beware the Labor Day holiday in the first week of May, when Hongya Cave, Ciqikou and the Yangtze River Cableway draw enormous domestic crowds.

Try to avoid the May 1 to 5 national holiday unless you enjoy queueing, and if you do visit then, book cableway and cruise tickets online and start sightseeing before 8am. Build your day around the afternoon storms: outdoor sights in the morning, museums, teahouses and hot pot restaurants while the rain passes, and river views after it clears.

June in Chongqing

TemperaturePrecipitationSunlight
🌡️ 23°C to 29°C
Feels like: 25°C to 33°C
🌧️ 190mm over 16 days
🌧️ Wettest month of the year
☀️ 4-5 hours daily
🌇 8:00pm sunsets

June is the rainiest month in Chongqing, and heat arrives with the humidity, so the city starts to feel like a steam room between downpours. Rain here tends to come in intense bursts rather than all-day drizzle, which means bright, sticky intervals alternate with sudden curtains of water.

The Dragon Boat Festival usually falls in June, and Chongqing celebrates it in style, with dragon boat races on the Jialing and Yangtze and zongzi - sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves - sold on every street corner. The rivers run high and fast, giving the confluence at Chaotianmen a powerful, muddy-brown energy.

Keep a rain jacket and a dry bag for electronics on you at all times, and check river conditions before booking a Yangtze cruise, as high water can cancel sailings. When the rain wins, retreat into the city's indoor layers: the Three Gorges Museum, the monorail gliding through the Liziba apartment block, and an air-conditioned hot pot restaurant are all classic rainy-day Chongqing.

July in Chongqing

TemperaturePrecipitationSunlight
🌡️ 26°C to 34°C
Feels like: 30°C to 40°C
🌧️ 150mm over 12 days
⛈️ Sudden violent storms
☀️ 5-6 hours daily
🌇 7:55pm sunsets

July is when Chongqing lives up to its nickname as one of China's furnace cities. Daytime highs sit in the mid-thirties, heat waves push past 38°C, and nights often stay above 28°C with humidity that makes the air feel thick enough to lean on.

Locals deal with it the traditional way: by leaving. Families head for the high country at Jinfo Mountain in Nanchuan or Fairy Mountain in Wulong, where temperatures drop by ten degrees or more. In the city, life shifts to the evening, when the riverside promenades, night markets and the lit-up skyline along Hongya Cave finally become bearable.

Start any walking route before 8am and plan a long indoor break between noon and 4pm - the metro and the monorail are reliably air-conditioned escapes. Drink far more water than you think you need, watch for heatstroke, and cool down with local iced desserts such as bingfen and liangxia. If the heat overwhelms you, book a night or two in the Wulong or Jinfo mountains.

August in Chongqing

TemperaturePrecipitationSunlight
🌡️ 26°C to 34°C
Feels like: 30°C to 41°C
🌧️ 125mm over 11 days
🌩️ Brief intense storms
☀️ 6 hours daily
🌇 7:30pm sunsets

August is statistically the hottest month in Chongqing, and heat waves can settle over the basin for two or three weeks without a break. The combination of high temperatures, still air and near-saturated humidity is why the city's summer is often described as a sauna rather than a furnace.

Paradoxically, August also delivers some of the clearest skies of the year, with brilliant blue afternoons that show the skyline at its sharpest - though you will want to admire them from an air-conditioned window. The mountains remain the great escape, and cooler evenings on the Nanshan hills above the Yangtze draw crowds for the night panorama.

Treat midday like the middle of winter elsewhere and stay indoors: museums, malls and the underground metro are your allies between 11am and 4pm. Do your sightseeing at dawn and after sunset, when the two rivers and the floodlit Hongya Cave are at their most photogenic. Keep a flexible itinerary so you can move a mountain day trip forward if a heat wave peaks.

September in Chongqing

TemperaturePrecipitationSunlight
🌡️ 22°C to 28°C
Feels like: 23°C to 31°C
🌧️ 140mm over 13 days
🌧️ Autumn rains set in
☀️ 4 hours daily
🌇 6:55pm sunsets

September finally breaks the summer, usually in the second half of the month, when a cool front sweeps the basin and temperatures fall through the twenties. That relief comes with rain: the West China autumn rains arrive as steady, gentle drizzle that can last for days at a time.

The Mid-Autumn Festival often lands in September, filling bakeries with mooncakes and courtyards with lanterns. Clear festival nights are prized for moon viewing over the rivers, and the sweet scent of osmanthus begins to drift through the city's parks and older lanes.

Late September is one of the best-value windows of the Chongqing year: summer crowds have gone, temperatures are friendly, and hotel rates dip before the October holiday. Bring a light rain layer, keep an eye on the Mid-Autumn holiday dates, and save your river cruise or cableway ride for a morning when the clouds break.

October in Chongqing

TemperaturePrecipitationSunlight
🌡️ 17°C to 22°C
Feels like: 16°C to 21°C
🌧️ 95mm over 15 days
🌧️ Lingering autumn drizzle
☀️ 3 hours daily
🌇 6:20pm sunsets

October in Chongqing is mild, damp and quietly beautiful. The autumn rains continue on and off, humidity stays high, and the hills around the city shift from deep green to gold. Osmanthus is in full bloom this month, scenting parks, temple courtyards and older residential streets.

The National Day holiday in the first week of October is the busiest travel period of the Chinese year, and Chongqing - now one of the country's most popular destinations - feels it keenly at Hongya Cave, Ciqikou, Liziba and the Yangtze River Cableway. From mid-month onward the city returns to a much gentler rhythm.

Avoid the first week of October if crowds bother you, or plan that week around early mornings and lesser-known neighbourhoods rather than headline sights. Mid to late October is arguably the sweet spot for walking the city, and it is also when hot pot season properly begins - a steaming, numbing and spicy pot is the perfect rainy-day dinner.

November in Chongqing

TemperaturePrecipitationSunlight
🌡️ 12°C to 17°C
Feels like: 10°C to 15°C
🌧️ 50mm over 11 days
🌫️ River fog returns
☀️ 2 hours daily
🌇 6:00pm sunsets

November eases Chongqing into winter, with comfortable afternoons early in the month giving way to grey, chilly days by the end. Autumn colour peaks in the surrounding mountains - the red maples and golden ginkgo of Jinfo Mountain are the star attraction, with Nanshan offering a closer, easier taste of the same palette.

The fog returns to the rivers this month, restoring the moody, mist-wrapped atmosphere that made Chongqing famous in film and literature. Tourist numbers drop sharply after the October holiday, which means shorter queues, cheaper rates and a calmer version of the city's famous night scenery.

Layer up for chill, damp days and add a windproof jacket for river crossings and cableway rides, where the damp air cuts deepest. This is prime hot spring weather: the mineral springs at Beibei and Tongjing are an easy half-day trip and a beloved local ritual. Expect some morning fog delays to flights and river cruises, and keep plans loose accordingly.

December in Chongqing

TemperaturePrecipitationSunlight
🌡️ 7°C to 11°C
Feels like: 5°C to 9°C
🌧️ 25mm over 10 days
🌫️ Heavy fog, rare sleet
☀️ 1-2 hours daily
🌇 5:55pm sunsets

December wraps Chongqing in its damp, grey winter. Snow is rare in the city itself - a fleeting flurry every few years is enough to make the news - but the surrounding mountains at Jinfo and Fairy Mountain regularly turn white, and both have ski slopes that fill with weekenders from the city.

December is also the foggiest stretch of the year, with mist hanging over the Yangtze and Jialing until midday and the skyline appearing and disappearing through the day. Indoors, the season is warm and convivial: hot pot restaurants are packed, hot springs steam in the hills, and Jiefangbei and the riverside districts light up for the year's end.

Pack thermal underwear, a waterproof outer layer and shoes that keep water out - Chongqing's winter damp is far more biting than the numbers suggest, and many buildings have little or no heating. That makes indoor attractions such as the Three Gorges Museum, Hongyan Revolution Memorial sites and the city's teahouses excellent fog-day options. If you want snow, plan a trip to Jinfo Mountain or Fairy Mountain rather than expecting it downtown.

Best Time to Visit Chongqing - Weather by Season

Best Time to Visit Chongqing - Weather by Season
Chongqing Seasonal Guide

Chongqing reinvents itself with every season - from steamy summer nights when the Yangtze glows with a million reflections to foggy winter mornings when the Mountain City disappears into mist.

Spring (March–May)

Mountain City Awakening

12-25°C (54-77°F) with a fast warm-up and frequent drizzle. March still feels raw and damp, while April brings sudden heat spikes and the thick river fog that earned Chongqing its "Fog Capital" nickname.

What to Wear

  • Grippy shoes for steep stone stairways that stay slick in the rain
  • Light layers - a tee under a thin jacket handles 15°C swings in one day
  • Compact umbrella, since spring delivers rain on roughly half the days

Spring Adventures

  • Wander Ciqikou Ancient Town's old lanes before the tour groups arrive
  • Ride the Yangtze River Cableway across the water as mist rolls over the banks
  • Photograph the night skyline from Eling Park or Nanshan One Tree

Pro Tip

Spring is the last comfortable window for climbing the city's endless stairs and hills. Start at 7am to beat both the crowds and the midday humidity, then save Hongyadong for after dark when its stilt houses light up.

Summer (June–August)

Furnace Season

28-40°C (82-104°F) with punishing humidity that keeps nights above 30°C. Chongqing is one of China's "furnace cities," and August afternoons regularly push past 40°C.

What to Wear

  • Breathable quick-dry clothing - you will sweat through more than one shirt
  • Lightweight shoes with grip for hot, uneven stairways and slopes
  • Sun hat, SPF 50+ and a refillable water bottle for daytime walks

Beat the Heat

  • See Hongyadong's illuminated stilt houses glowing over the Jialing River
  • Ride Metro Line 2 through Liziba station, where the monorail passes into an apartment block
  • Escape to the cool caves of Wulong's Three Natural Bridges or the forested slopes of Jinyun Mountain

Local Hack

Do what locals do: stay indoors from noon to 4pm, then head out after 6pm when the heat breaks and the whole city switches on its lights. Hotpot tastes best late at night, air-conditioning blasting.

Autumn (September–November)

Golden Season

Crisp 15-28°C (59-82°F) once the "autumn tiger" heat finally retreats. October delivers the year's clearest skies and the best walking weather in the city.

What to Wear

  • Comfortable walking shoes for a city built on hills and staircases
  • Light jacket for cool mornings and breezy riverside evenings
  • Camera with extra batteries for the sharp autumn light

Autumn Must-Dos

  • Hike Jinfo Mountain's ancient bamboo forest as the leaves turn gold
  • Watch the Jialing and Yangtze rivers meet at Chaotianmen, their waters two different colors
  • Climb the old Shibati stairway lanes for a glimpse of pre-war Chongqing

Heads Up

The National Day holiday (Oct 1-7) brings overwhelming crowds to Hongyadong, Ciqikou and every cableway - avoid this week if you can. Mid-October to mid-November is the sweet spot, before the winter fog settles in.

Winter (December–February)

Foggy Damp Chill

5-12°C (41-54°F) but the damp river air makes it feel far colder than the numbers suggest. Winter is the foggiest stretch in a city that logs over 100 foggy days a year.

What to Wear

  • Thermal base layers under a windproof, water-resistant outer shell
  • Shoes with solid grip for wet stone steps and steep alleys
  • Gloves and a scarf - indoor heating is rare, so you rarely take them off

Winter Activities

  • Soak in a hot spring at Ronghui or Tongjing after a day of walking
  • Head to Jinfo Mountain for snow and rime ice on the summit
  • Warm up over malatang and a bubbling nine-grid hotpot

Insider Note

Winter fog can swallow the skyline from the Raffles City or WFC observation decks, so check the forecast before paying for a view. The upside: fewer queues, cheaper hotels and prime hotpot season.

What Makes Chongqing's Weather Different

Four things shape every trip here.

  • The basin traps heat. Chongqing sits at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers, in a low river valley surrounded by hills. Hot air has nowhere to go, and the mountains block the airflow that would otherwise clear it. Locals call the city one of the Yangtze's traditional "three furnaces", and the nickname is earned rather than marketing.
  • Humidity is constant. Relative humidity runs between 70 and 84 per cent in every month of the year. That is what turns 34°C into something that feels considerably worse, and what makes winter feel colder than the thermometer suggests.
  • Sunshine is scarce. Roughly 983 hours a year, against more than 1,700 in Beijing. December averages 18 hours of sunshine across the whole month, which is under 40 minutes a day. If you are coming for blue skies and photographs, autumn is your window, not winter.
  • Fog is a feature, not an accident. Around 100 foggy days a year, most of them between November and February. It is why Chongqing is known as the fog capital, and it has a real effect on river views and cable car rides.

How Weather Affects Chongqing's Main Attractions

How Weather Affects Chongqing's Main Attractions

Chongqing is unusual in that most of its headline sights are either indoors or lit, which means bad weather rarely ruins a day outright. What weather does change is which sights are worth doing when, and whether a viewpoint or a river trip is worth the trip on a particular morning.

Chongqing Summer: What 42°C Actually Feels Like

Chongqing Summer: What 42°C Actually Feels Like

The numbers are not theoretical. In 2024, Shapingba recorded 77 days above 35°C across the year, a national record for a provincial-level city, including a run of 42 consecutive high-temperature days in August and September. September alone produced 25 such days. In 2025, the city recorded its longest summer since records began at 186 days, and Wuxi County hit 44.2°C on 4 August, the highest reading in its history. In July 2026, Shapingba logged 20 consecutive high-temperature days, a July record, with Beibei reaching 42.3°C.

What that means in practice:

  • Nights stay hot. Average lows in July and August sit around 25°C, and during heatwaves they often stay near 30°C. There is no cool window to recover.
  • Humidity makes it worse. At 70 to 79 per cent, the heat index runs well above the air temperature.
  • The middle of the day is unusable. Sightseeing between 11am and 5pm in July or August is not a challenge to be overcome; it is a bad plan.
  • If you are here in summer, go up. Xiannü Mountain in Wulong, Heishan Valley and Jinfo Mountain sit at altitude and run far cooler than the city. This is what locals do.

Chongqing Winter: Why 10°C Feels Colder Than It Sounds

Chongqing Winter: Why 10°C Feels Colder Than It Sounds

Chongqing lies south of China's Qinling-Huaihe heating line, which means there is no municipal central heating. Buildings are designed for a climate that is hot rather than cold, and indoor temperatures in an unheated space are often barely different from outdoors.

Add humidity above 80 per cent and the damp air conducts heat away from your body, so a 10°C day commonly feels like 5°C or lower. Two practical consequences for travellers:

  • Check how your hotel heats the room. Mid-range and upscale hotels use central or split air conditioning with a heating function, and the better ones have underfloor heating. Budget hotels and guesthouses usually rely on a wall-mounted air conditioner. Ask before you book, and ask whether the heating is actually working.
  • Air conditioning heat feels different from radiator heat. Warm air rises, so your head stays warm while your feet stay cold, and the air dries out. If you are sensitive to that, ask for an extra blanket, keep the room humidified, and pack socks you can sleep in.

Does the Chongqing Fog Ruin the Views?

Partly, and it depends what you came for. Chongqing averages around 100 foggy days a year, concentrated from November to February, and the fog is thick enough to hide the river and the skyline from the hillside viewpoints.

Three things to know. First, the fog is often at its worst in the morning and lifts or thins by afternoon, so a flexible daily plan helps. Second, the city's signature sights, Hongya Cave, the illuminated riverfront and the monorail threading through a building, work well in fog and mist because they are lit. Third, if clear panoramas are the point of your trip, come in autumn, when the summer haze has cleared and the fog has not yet arrived.

What to Pack for Chongqing

Two items matter here more than they would in most Chinese cities: shoes with real grip, because the city is a sequence of slopes and staircases that turn slippery in rain, and a folding umbrella, which is useful in every season except perhaps the height of summer. Everything else follows the season.

Season

Clothing

Do not forget

Spring (Mar to May)

Light layers, thin waterproof jacket, long trousers

Umbrella, grippy shoes for wet steps, light sunscreen

Summer (Jun to Aug)

Loose quick-dry clothing, shorts, breathable shirts

Sun hat, high-factor sunscreen, umbrella for storms, mosquito repellent, water bottle

Autumn (Sep to Nov)

Sweater, light jacket, long trousers

Waterproof layer for November, warm layer for river evenings

Winter (Dec to Feb)

Windproof and water-resistant outer, thermal base layers, warm socks

Umbrella, neck and ankle protection, slippers or thick socks for cold hotel floors

The hotel is located in Zijing Commercial Plaza, close to Ziwei Road, a popular online celebrity street, and within walking distance of Guanyin Bridge and Jiujie. It's also not far from Huangnibang Station on Line 6. The rooms are relatively new, most with floor-to-ceiling windows and brand-name mattresses. There's free parking and a self-service laundry room. For breakfast, you can enjoy authentic Chongqing noodles, and the soundproofing on higher floors is quite good.

People's Square Area Chongqing|0.88km from city center
Our flight was delayed, and we arrived at the hotel in the early morning. The male front desk staff on duty was fluent in English and very kind, which made our late check-in smooth. The hotel room furniture and amenities are a bit dated, but overall they were kept clean. However, we had a very unpleasant experience at the fitness center. After using the swimming pool, we tried to use the spin dryer in the changing room, but it didn't work. When we asked the fitness staff for help, they rudely dismissed the issue and bluntly said it was impossible without even checking. Fortunately, when we inquired at the 1st-floor lobby, a staff member named William helped us deal with this issue. He personally accompanied us back to the fitness center and thoughtfully arranged for us to use the staff dryer. We are deeply grateful for William’s professional and kind service. That being said, the hotel needs to address a few operational issues: The mini spin dryer in the changing room should be repaired or replaced promptly. The senior staff member at the fitness center showed a poor professional attitude —shirked responsibilities by pushing tasks onto a subordinate who claimed that day was her first day working at the hotel fitness center (believe it or not), and was impolite to guests. Service retraining for the fitness center staffs is strongly recommended.

Jiefangbei Area/Hong Ya Dong Chongqing|2.28km from city center
A pleasant surprise! I randomly picked this hotel on Ctrip and was very satisfied with my stay. The room was spacious, and we ended up staying two nights. The main highlight is the convenient location, right near Jiefangbei, with plenty of food and shopping options nearby. It's easy to get to all the attractions. There's even a pretty good hotpot restaurant (Li Enen Xiaoyuan Hotpot) diagonally across the street. My little one also enjoyed the hotel's pool, and we savored wine and city views from the executive lounge on the top floor. Highly recommend! I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit to Chongqing.

Location: Situated inside Chongqing's landmark 'Grand Sail' building, directly above Raffles City and with direct metro access. Within walking distance to Chaotianmen, Hongyadong, Jiefangbei, and the pier. There are three hotels in the 'Sail' building: InterContinental Raffles City, Hotel Indigo, and Ascott. Ascott is wholly owned by CapitaLand, the developer of Raffles City, so its quality is undoubtedly top-notch. Facilities: Positioned as a serviced apartment, the public areas are compact yet comfortable and practical. The lobby offers complimentary tea and fresh flowers. A significant portion of the public space is dedicated to guests. The gym is well-equipped with at least two treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes, as well as a full set of resistance machines. There's also a yoga room with river views, comparable to a small commercial gym. It provides hot/cold water, sanitizing wipes, towels, and even headphones with sterilized covers. The swimming pool was closed during our two-day stay, so we hope to check it out next time. Below the hotel is Raffles City's urban garden, leading directly to a river-view platform – a peaceful oasis amidst the bustle. Room: We were fortunate to be upgraded to a two-bedroom suite, so spacious it was astounding. It features two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a bathtub in the master. It includes a washer and dryer, perfect for families. The kitchen is fully equipped with a built-in microwave, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and range hood. A complete set of dishes and cookware is provided. The facilities are excellently maintained; the microwave and oven looked almost unused. The room offers a pillow menu and abundant storage space. Due to its unique location, Ascott's rooms offer either unbeatable river views, stunning city views, or like ours, views of both. Service: Special thanks to Miss Genny at the front desk, who was incredibly patient during our check-in, attentively asked about our needs, and efficiently arranged our room. We arrived early, intending only to store our luggage, but to our surprise, we received our room key immediately. We are very grateful. All hotel staff were exceptionally proactive, friendly, and helpful – carrying luggage, greeting us upon sight, making us feel right at home. The staff member on the ground floor was also wonderful, assisting with getting in and out of cars/moving luggage and patiently giving directions. Overall, a very satisfying stay.

Nanping Chongqing|3.26km from city center
The hotel is located in Nanping, which is actually quite convenient. It's just a taxi ride across the Yangtze River Bridge, or a 5-minute walk from Metro Line 3. It's an older hotel, but generally clean, though there is a slight musty smell. The suites come in two types: '20' offers a slight river view, while '10', which I initially got, had virtually no view. After speaking to the front desk, they moved me to a '20' suite on a higher floor the next day, which was excellent service. The room also had cute little bears. The hotel breakfast was just okay; for a picky eater like myself, a German brand hotel not offering pretzel bread for breakfast is something I think could be improved. The package also included a complimentary beer, which was very refreshing on a hot summer day. Overall, it offers great value for money. Plus, there's a super delicious beef noodle shop downstairs, which is definitely a bonus.

The environment is clean, and the breakfast is quite rich. This was my first time visiting Chongqing and I didn't know which hotel to book, so I just picked one randomly. To my surprise, it was excellent! The floor was great, and even though it's in a bustling area, it wasn't noisy at all. I slept very well at night.

My overall experience at Chongqing Yaqi Hotel (Jiefangbei Qixinggang Branch) was outstanding. The service was excellent; the front desk staff were friendly and efficient, and they responded promptly to my WeChat messages. They even returned an item I left behind after check-out, which was a thoughtful touch. As for the facilities, my river-view room had floor-to-ceiling windows directly facing the Yangtze River, complete with smart lighting and a scenic bathtub. The rooftop infinity pool offered clean water and a stunning city skyline backdrop – perfect for photos. The laundry room and complimentary parking were also very convenient. While the food wasn't a lavish feast, the authentic Chongqing noodles for breakfast were delicious. Paired with the clay pot dishes and the time-honored pea and minced pork noodles available nearby, it truly captured the vibrant street food culture of Chongqing. The hotel offers a quiet retreat in a bustling area, with direct subway access. It's an excellent choice for a stay in the city center that balances design and comfort.

This hotel is located right across from Bayi Square and is also close to the subway. Stepping out, you're on Bayi Road Food Street, where you can find all sorts of local specialty snacks. The staff were very warm and attentive. When we arrived, they immediately offered us refreshing lemon and plum juice from the hotel's self-service, which was incredibly crisp and tasty. Housekeeping was prompt; they even helped us with laundry while we were out exploring. Food delivery riders can bring orders directly to your room. Honestly, if it's not too hot, a short walk will get you to a ton of great food options. You can easily walk to Jiefangbei and Hongyadong from here, and to get to Liziba, you can take Line 2. Across the street from the hotel, you get a great mountain view, and you can even spot the Golden Eagle. I highly recommend this place for anyone who loves food and exploring!

This is an older five-star hotel, and my stay was just average. They strictly enforce the 3 PM check-in time. We arrived in Chongqing in the morning and couldn't check in, so we stored our luggage and went out. We came back around 1 PM, asked the front desk, but still couldn't check in. They said our deluxe suite had a late checkout and housekeeping hadn't finished cleaning it. We had to wait until 3 PM, so we had no choice but to wait in the hotel lobby. It felt quite rigid, without consideration for basic guest needs. After we checked in, one of the two bathrooms in the suite had a broken overhead shower. There were no welcome fruits, and the hotel didn't have a room service robot, so we had to go downstairs ourselves to pick up our takeout, which was inconvenient. I can only say its advantage is its excellent location; it's very convenient to get anywhere from the hotel. The doorman helped with our luggage once, so that's a plus.

I absolutely loved the decor style of the Sheraton Chongqing Hotel. It's elegantly European, and from the moment I stepped in, I felt like I'd entered a palace – luxurious and grand. The hotel's location is convenient; it only took 30 minutes to get there from the airport with no traffic, and getting around by taxi is very easy. The room decor is opulent. I read reviews saying the hotel was a bit old, but it's exceptionally well-maintained and looks like it's only 5 or 6 years old. The hotel service is excellent; the front desk staff are very warm and promptly followed up on all my check-in requests. Even for a guest like me with many demands, they were incredibly patient and helped arrange every single thing. This is highly commendable. The hotel's unbeatable river view is definitely something out-of-town friends should experience. Highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property.  Everyone was so nice and kind.  The service was top- notch.  The amenities were plenty and easy accessible.   A few extras that made everything worth it were the full- sized refrigerator, with freezer, the washing machine (for which they provided soap as well), dish washer, stove top, towel drier ( in the washroom) and full sized closet.  The view was so beautiful and calming as well.   Everything about this room was just so nice and exactly what I needed.     I didn’t realize how perfect the location was in relation to almost everything that I wanted to see.   When I figured that out, I just got up every day and walked to everything that I needed or wanted to see.   It was extremely close to a lot of restaurants, malls, local shops and smaller attractions.  I was less than a 10 -15 minute walk to Raffles City Shopping Center where there is a 5 story mall, Movie theatre, roof top attraction with the swing,  SKY WALK and also the river front park with amazing views.  Same distance for Hongyadong, the viewing platform, the Qiansemen Bridge- if you wanted to walk across the bridge at night- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!  There is so much to see and experience between the hotel and these attractions.  Your days will be filled with fun and adventure.    If ever I have the opportunity to come back to the city, I will very excited to repeat this experience.

I stayed at this hotel for six nights. It's a five-star hotel, and the lobby, hallways, and even the six elevators are quite grand. However, being over ten years old, it does show its age a bit. I stayed in a duplex room, which was very spacious and satisfying in terms of size. What surprised me though was that in a two-bathroom setup, the downstairs bathroom didn't have a shower. The upstairs bathroom had a good wet and dry separation. But the shower drain was very slow; the water would quickly rise above your ankles when showering. I even changed rooms because of this, but the new room had the same issue. The room provided welcome fruit and drinks, and there was also an afternoon tea. Breakfast was served until at least 10 AM, I think even until 12 PM. There was also a refrigerator in the room. The hotel breakfast wasn't lacking in variety, but I always felt the quality wasn't very high. The hot dishes in the hot food section were mostly vegetarian, with only an occasional dish like minced pork with long beans appearing daily.

However, the hotel shut down AC system at night because outdoor temperature is not hot enough, that leading to in room temperature went back to 27 degrees, I got totally sleepless. Understood the hotel tried to save money on electricity, but AC system is the one of basic amenity systems and should not shut down the mostly of the days. Moldy grout, moldy caulking are all around the shower, the picture attached. Non adjustable shower head with fixed holder need upgraded. That shows lack of the maintenance for rooms. If you like quiet places, August at South Hot Spring is a great choice! We left after work on Friday and arrived quite late. There's an underground garage, and you can also park on the surface, right at the lobby entrance. Front desk staffer Xiao Zhang provided excellent service, promptly helping us with any issues. 👍 Our room had a private hot spring, and we chose a king-size bed room. The overall room size was a bit smaller than I expected, but it had all the amenities. I personally felt the bedding was a bit damp, and the room was stuffy when we first entered. The air conditioning worked well, though it was quite loud, as it's a bit old. The room also came stocked with potato chips, instant coffee, tea bags, soda, and mineral water, and they thoughtfully provided mosquito repellent. There were helpful notices posted in various places in the bathroom, showing good attention to detail. Aside from a few too-few outlets and the room being small and compact, I think it's still quite good.

I was on a business trip to Chongqing and had a friend book a popular influencer hotel for me. I couldn't stand it after one night. I switched to this hotel, but only booked two days, worried about the same situation. However, after checking in, I found both the hotel environment and cleanliness to be excellent. The hotel gym, in particular, had new equipment and great service, making me want to work out every day. I ended up extending my stay for another two days. It's a very good hotel, and I'll consider staying here again next time I'm in Chongqing. I also want to mention that this hotel is next to Changjiang International, so the views are especially good, and the night view is also excellent. The key is that there are many young people checking in for photos, which is quite a sight to see every day when coming and going. The only downside is that the doormen in the lobby lack service awareness. There were no measures to store umbrellas on rainy days, and they didn't bother to help with food deliveries, just telling guests to find the front desk, as if it had nothing to do with them. I hope this can be improved next time I visit.

Choosing Niccolo Chongqing for my trip was absolutely the right decision; the happiness of the entire journey began the moment I stepped into the hotel. The high-altitude lobby instantly revealed the magical essence of the mountain city, while the floor-to-ceiling windows in the room felt like a living painting. By day, I watched the river and the stacked buildings, and at night, as the lights came on, the Two Rivers night view sparkled like a galaxy – I couldn't bear to draw the curtains even when just gazing out. The breakfast was also a pleasant surprise, offering a rich variety of both Chinese and Western options. The Chongqing noodles were spicy and fragrant, and there was a great selection of freshly baked bread, fruits, hot dishes, and desserts. After a satisfying meal, it was incredibly convenient to head out and explore IFS and Jiefangbei, given the hotel's excellent location. I especially want to thank Mia at the front desk! She was incredibly warm, had a kind smile, and was very efficient. She thoughtfully introduced the hotel facilities, breakfast times, and nearby attractions. The Huabang Hotel, located within Fairy Mountain National Forest Park, was our chosen destination for a late-summer getaway with my parents before school started. With classes resuming soon, the hotel wasn't overly crowded, and the booking price was quite reasonable, offering excellent value for money. **Environment:** This is one of the older hotels in Fairy Mountain, so the interior facilities in the rooms look a bit dated due to its age. However, the overall cleanliness is good, and the hotel is very quiet, making for a comfortable stay. Plus, the natural scenery around the hotel is fantastic, with attractions like Red Maple Stone Forest and grasslands. Guests staying at the hotel, as well as those from the adjacent Zhuoya Hotel, can access the vast grassland by swiping their room cards, which is very convenient. **Dining:** Since we only stayed one night, we mainly experienced the breakfast. The variety of dishes was quite rich, and the noodles were particularly delicious. **Service:** The staff were all very friendly and attentive to guests' needs, doing their best to accommodate requests. For our group of three, who booked a twin room, the front desk kindly arranged an extra breakfast portion for us. **Suggestions for Improvement:** When we went for breakfast and provided our room number, the staff checked and informed us that two people from our room number had already entered. This forced me to prove that we were indeed the legitimate guests of that room. The hotel could easily upgrade its system, perhaps by installing a machine to scan room cards for dining, which would avoid such awkward situations and simplify record-keeping. Also, we stayed in Building 1, and for some reason, possibly renovations, there was a knocking sound from construction work for both days we were there. Although they were careful with the timing, it was still a bit noisy for those who come to the mountain specifically to relax. The hotel might consider either not selling rooms in this building during the off-peak season to carry out renovations all at once or proactively inform guests about the times when construction noise might occur. **Overall Impression:** Overall, we were very satisfied, and my mom has already decided she wants to come back again. Just a few minor details could be improved upon.
