What is the Indian Arrival Card?

What is the Indian Arrival Card?

Source: India Visa Online

The Indian Arrival Card is the official entry declaration form used by India’s immigration to verify traveler identity, travel details, and purpose of visit. Traditionally a paper card distributed on flights or at ports of entry, it has been fully digitized and replaced by the e‑Arrival Card system. This digital document is linked to your passport and must be submitted in advance; it is not a visa, but a compulsory pre-arrival requirement for all non‑Indian citizens entering India.

Do I need an Arrival Card to enter India?

Yes, for all foreign nationals and OCI holders. Only Indian citizens holding a valid Indian passport are exempt.
Transit passengers who remain in the international transit area and do not pass through immigration are also exempt. Anyone clearing immigration (including short layovers over 24 hours) must submit the e‑Arrival Card.

Who must complete the India e‑Arrival Card?

  • All international tourists, business visitors, students, medical travelers, and family visitors
  • OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cardholders
  • Foreign passport holders entering by air, sea, or land port
  • Transit passengers undergoing immigration clearance
Exempt: Indian citizens, passengers remaining in the transit zone without entering India

How to fill out the e‑Arrival Card for India

How to fill out the e‑Arrival Card for India

The e‑Arrival Card is completed exclusively through official government websites — no third‑party agents are required, and no fee is charged.

Step 1: Access the official portal

Use the official Bureau of Immigration or Indian Visa Online portal:

Step 2: Prepare your information

Have your passport info (number, issue/expiry), flight number, arrival date/airport, travel purpose, Indian accommodation address, email, phone, and emergency contact ready.

Step 3: Complete and submit

Fill the form accurately (match passport/visa exactly), review and submit, then save the QR code confirmation (digital or print backup).

Step 4: At immigration

Show the QR code at check‑in and immigration; no paper forms needed, as immigration verifies your digital record electronically.

When should I fill out India e‑Arrival Card?

You may submit the e‑Arrival Card between 72 hours and 24 hours before your scheduled arrival in India.
Submission too early (more than 72 hours before) or too late (less than 24 hours before) may result in system rejection or verification delays. Airlines may check completion during check‑in.

I recently stayed at The Lalit New Delhi and had a fantastic experience. I chose this hotel primarily for its location, as it is incredibly convenient for attending events at the Indira Gandhi Arena. It saved me a lot of travel time and hassle. The property itself is grand and very well-maintained. The room was spacious, clean, and offered a great view of the city—it felt like a proper luxury experience. I was also impressed with the breakfast spread; there were plenty of delicious vegetarian options, which I really appreciated. The staff were courteous and efficient during check-in and check-out. Overall, it was a comfortable and hassle-free stay. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for luxury in central Delhi.

The room was quite small. I've always stayed at the Imperial Hotel before, and this place clearly falls a notch below in terms of facilities and service. Plus, there's always a scammer by the entrance, pretending to read a newspaper. Every time we step out to catch a taxi, he tries to pull various tricks on us, even driving away our cab and insisting we go to a specific shopping spot. If you're just on a layover, you'd be better off staying at a hotel near the airport.

My wife and I had a short stay at this hotel. We ordered room service and Shalini, the person who took our order on the phone was very accommodative to our specic requirements at 10pm. Then came the most impressive Room Service ever experienced by both of us. Aditya, took so much of personal pride to layout the food and served us. Typically we are delivered a trolley with food inside and are expected to serve ourselves. But this wonderful young *** made our late dinner extra special. We skipped breakfast but had their buffet lunch. What a huge and appetising spread.... Once again, the service was as good as the food. Both exceptional !! Chef Sandeep specially attended to us. He saw that we had taken Saag (spinach) so he came around and said you must hv Makki Di Roti with your Saag. Within minutes, we had freshly made Makki Di Roti at our table. The person who served us at the Del restaurant was Nikhil. Very attentive, friendly and quick to serve us. Kudos to the hotel for infusing such a deep sense of good service and superb food quality. Well done ji 🙏

This hotel was great, Overpriced for what it is, and service is responsive and great. facilities and such are hard to understand how they work, but people are usually very helpful, food was good, breakfast was good, however when trying to modify bookings, one day later, or checking out earlier, they will NOT budge at all even if told in advance and reject any online booking request to modify it. That's my only gripe, however its good, location is good but not the best. Great stay overall, little things were off about it.

My stay at the Ambassador Hotel in New Delhi was a very special and welcoming experience.  The location of the hotel is right next to the “Khan Market” metro station, in a central area but yet quiet and peaceful. The room and facilities are of a high standard, and the breakfast offers a wide variety, including Indian specialties as well as Western options. As it is my first time visiting India, I had many inquiries, the front office team (Wasi, Tashi, Nipaisn, Kishan, Vansh, and the Front Office Manager Lakshay Nirvla) were very patient and helped me navigate in Delhi. Furthermore, after checking out, I had difficulty booking trains for my next destination, but they all helped. Thanks to them, I had all my journey arranged, including taxi drivers and train tickets.   I usually don’t write reviews of my hotel stays, but this wonderful experience and the warm-hearted people I met here truly made the difference. I warmly recommend this hotel for its location, facilities, food, and, most of all, its amazing team.

I stayed here for two nights - one at the beginning of a two week India adventure and one at the end. Absolutely lovely room on both occasions, spotlessly clean and with a great selection of complimentary tea, coffee, water. Choice of snacks in a minibar which were really cheap too. Huge bed, very comfortable, great air on. The staff and the service they provided were excellent - I’m pretty sure they don’t earn a great deal and they work so hard - so it’s nice to be able to tip generously! Restaurant is lovely with an amazing breakfast buffet - or they’ll pack you up a breakfast to go bag if you ask at reception. The hotel will also provide a driver and car for airport runs (a bargain at 1100 rupees - so leave a generous tip!). Great little coffee shop/cake section too which was great to sit and people watch on an evening - again, soooo cheap but lovely. Thank you Pride Plaza!!!

Stayed at Hyatt Regency Delhi recently. The hotel has a classic luxury feel with spacious, well-maintained rooms and comfortable beds. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide variety of options. Service was professional and attentive. The location is convenient for both business and sightseeing, though traffic in Delhi can be challenging. The hotel is just a short walk from Aerocity station, which is on the metro line to Delhi Airport. From the front lobby to the guest rooms, everything was of a high standard, ensuring a very comfortable stay. The breakfast offered a wide variety of options, including authentic Indian dishes, which was very enjoyable. Currently, there's construction on the south side of the property, so south-facing rooms have a view of a construction site. However, through the gaps, you can still catch glimpses of the city in the distance and planes taking off and landing.

The bed is really comfortable, the breakfast is delicious, there is no smell, the area is close to embassies so it is safe, and above all, there is no need to bring a shower filter (I brought one but it did not leak and the filter was not dirty at all). The downside is that there is no mall or supermarket nearby.

The service is top-notch, breakfasts are good, and housekeeping is excellent. The hotel is old, and the furniture in the rooms is dated, but it's kept very clean. The service definitely earns 5 stars, even if the room itself doesn't quite live up to that. However, compared to other hotels in India, this one is quite good. Of course, for this price in another country, you'd get a completely different room, but here, you're probably paying a premium for safety, a clean lobby, safe food, and clean water. A drawback is the restaurant prices; the food is unreasonably expensive. Since it's not safe to go outside the hotel, you're forced to eat there, which I assume the hotel counts on. I also dislike the pushy assistants who are always expecting tips.

About 25 mins drive from the airport in good traffic. The hotel is huge, grand and luxurious. There are 2 flights of stairs to navigate from the entrance to the lobby level. Something to note for those with physical disabilities. The room is a little small for 2 pax, though the bathroom and shower area is a good size with all amenities provided. Water pressure in the shower is good. Bed and pillows are way too soft for my liking, never a fan of beds that sink in. Breakfast at the Capital Kitchen is a standard spread. A small selection of cold cuts, typical buffet line of American breakfast staples of sausages, baked beans and potatoes. Live station for eggs and Indian staples. Service was excellent and friendly. Overall a comfortable stay but I do think they can go easy with the scent / perfuming, it was so strong (and pungent for me) that it gave me a bad headache.

The only reason the stay was good because the room was very clean and housekeeping was done everyday. Otherwise, the toilet flush had problem, the safe box didn't work and the promise to get it replaced never came. Sometimes the lifts have some issues closing which leave the guests leaving the lift and waiting for another. It would have been good to have more breakfast variety being a 5 star hotel. The service recovery duration is pretty slow and need to call them a few times to chase. Above all, it would be great if the staffs at the reception area are more welcoming and have a smile on their face. Each time I approach them they hardly have a smile on their face and they give a very monotonous reply. I had high expectations on this hotel being a 5 star rating but it was quite disappointing.

Room Very clean! Bed and pillows are comfortable. I chose one that’s far away from the lift, and on high floor with a city view. It was very quiet, and nice natural light! Shower and toilet were very clean. Strong powerful shower with very hot water available. Amenities Impressive that there’s a cafe that’s opened 24/7 downstairs that serves coffee, pastries and cakes. Gave a very good option in the middle of the night, and early morning should you need to grab something fast for an early morning flight. The coffee was good. Lovely swimming pool, meant to try it out. Location Excellent location only about 7 mins walk from the main shopping complex and restaurants. Very decent restaurants available there and the food court provides wide variety. I tried out a restaurant this time and it was lovely. Service House keeping - was very good. Early evening the team knocked on my door, very pleasant, and asked if I had any needs. Very thoughtful, and they tried best to make me comfortable. I had an enquiry about the smart tv functions. The gentleman came promptly, and was very helpful. Airport pick up Raju was very prompt, polite and friendly. Thank you! Especially appreciated that the pick up arrangement just had a sign of the hotel, vs having your name displayed on a big sign, which isn’t the case with many other hotels. Very thoughtful. (Others: Don’t really need two tables in the room. If it can be replaced with a couch/ sofa would even be better.) Overall: very comfortable stay, friendly staff, and will come again. Thank you!

The best hotel I have ever stayed in. From the airport pick-up to departure, everything was perfect. It's rare to get such an impression. Situated in a colonial-style building, long corridors and art galleries. From the photos, I was afraid that the rooms were more ”tired” than they are, but everything was great. Great big pool and jacuzzi and amazing spa. We were met at 4am, quickly settled in, presented with flowers and a cake in honor of our anniversary. The reception staff always tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible, explained all the nuances, answered absolutely all questions. More than likely the best luxury hotel in New Delhi, the food is as good advertised, the staff are doing all they coukd within the small room Taj hierarchy allows them. As I finally got the minibar deposit back, I have to give it the deserved 5/5 algorithmic vote for the 2nd night. The overpriced Minibar Scam I don't drink Sugar which is even more irritating. That said I know the price of an unhealthy soda can...which is literally sold for 10% the rpice 50 meters away with the same barcode. The overpriced common soda aka Minibar scam, is no longer acceptable. Hotels that insist on insulting their guests with over priced Soda Cans will no longer be Luxury hotels...make a note of this, all new Luxury Resorts offer free minibar and depositless instant checkin...self checkout...because they want guests to remember the stay...systematic harassment at checkout is not Luxury at all, hotels that can't change outdated and malignant policies will be left behind, the minibar overpiced sodacan makes guests assume the restaurant and rooms are also 10 times overpriced...the overpriced Soda Can is the diagnostic marker that any guest can easily identify with confidence. If a Hotel can't afford a Free Minibar it is not a Luxury Hotel. All High-End Luxury hotels offer Free Minibar as it costs little to nothing; it projects opulence and true Luxury. Guests don't question the price of their restaurants or accommodation as they no longer have an overpriced Soda Can to serve as their reference point of Value. Once Taj confirms they made it a brand policy to get rid of the Minibar scam, they will benefit greatly from fast checkin and prompt checkout & unnecessary deposits...there will be less adversial intepersonal energy with the guests, nobody wants to feel taken advantage of...getting rid of the outdated pre-internet Minibar scam is how the best Luxury Distinguish themselves from the lower class scam establishments

I stayed in Room 121 (2nd floor), which has a window facing the main street. The window is sealed and cannot be opened, so the noise level wasn't as high as I'd feared. It was fascinating to be able to watch the chaotic hustle and bustle of the city. Renovations are ongoing inside the hotel from morning until late at night, and construction tools are scattered throughout the hallway. A small cockroach appeared in the room on my first day. I caught it and put it out in the hallway. I haven't seen it since. The shower has a ceiling-mounted rain shower and a bottom-mounted faucet. The water flow is good. However, the shower is only available from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 8:00 PM to midnight, which can be inconvenient and requires caution. The water temperature barely rises after 10:00 PM. It feels like it's just water. Maybe it ran out of hot water? There was plenty of hot water in the morning. There's a TV and refrigerator. There's a powerful air conditioner and ceiling fan. I was also given extra bottled water. Amenities are minimal. There's a power outlet near the bed. Breakfast is served late, from 7:30 AM, and there are days when there is no buffet and you have to order. The custom-made holy basil poori was delicious. Shigeta Travel is located in the lobby area. They speak Japanese and have a good exchange rate. Tour arrangements are also reasonably priced. A fare to the airport is 600 rp. Laundry is available and will be done on the same day. The staff are all very friendly.
